I've never tried the Blue Devil branded stuff, but I had success with K-Seal head gasket repair on a beater 2003 Hyundai Elantra a couple years back. It had the typical white cloud out the exhaust, the oil looked like a chocolate milkshake, pulled the spark plugs out of it and number 3 was soaked and the gap was completely closed with goo. It was a car I paid 1500 bucks for and used as a winter beater for 7 years, it wasn't worth my time or money to fix it the correct way, I figured I'd give the $30 fix a try before hauling the car in for scrap. I drove it back and forth to work for few days afterwards, put like 75 miles on it and it stopped smoking and the misfire cleared up. I gave the car to my 16 year old nephew, told him it would probably get him around for awhile as he saved up for something nicer, that was 3 years ago and he's still driving the thing... It's survived all the standard issue neglect and complete lack of maintenance that comes along with being a teenage boys first car, so I imagine it'd be fine for most normal functioning adults.

This Stuff truly works guys. I had a blown head gasket in a 2004 Nissan maxima. I put it in and didn't flush it and thought that it didn't work. I did notice a difference but wasn't sure. Someone posted that this stuff needs a flash point to truly hardened and worked. They also said to for better results to us blue devil flush and use distilled water. After doing this I drove my car a little high than normal hwy speeds and got the motor hot but not crack the heads hot but just a high temperature like water boiling temp. Once i did that and stop and let the car sit and cool. Afterwards OMG did it work and with a rock solid seal. Not everyone will have to do it this way but it worked for me. Flushing the engine first seem to help once i did that and started over.. I have tested it and yess it totally fix. Air conditioner runs with no engine over heating.

Worked for 2009 Chevy Equinox. You MUST remove the thermostat! And you must pour the whole bottle directly into the thermostat housing NOT the reservoir. It will work! You must be careful. If it doesn't work the first go at a cold start do it again and again. Took me 3 full cold starts to fully seal the leak! Yes took me nearly 2 days of cold starts for it to work but after the 3rd start the exhaust finally came out clean and the car never overheated again!

I came back here just to make this comment and say Blue Devil works. I'm in southern Ontario, Canada and perhaps estimates will vary depending on geographic location. My check engine light came on and I had a code for a cylinder misfire in cylinder #4. After replacing coil, spark plug and fuel injector the check engine light was still coming on. I took my van to the Ford dealer. I have a 2010 Ford E250 4.6L with 199,000km on the odometer. They confirm it's got a blown head gasket and quoted $6,534.00 to fully repair.
I followed the directions for Blue Devil exactly. I bought the Blue Devil radiator flush and followed that also. My van needed 2 bottles of Blue Devil and 2 bottles of their radiator flush based on its capacity and just followed everything. On the second day after completing the process my check engine light went off by itself (did not code clear with the code reader) and its been off ever since.
I have since drove the van about 1000kms. It works. So if you have a blown head gasket you should use this and I can only attest to it working if you follow it 100%. But it seems like many people have success with just pouring it and forgetting it.

Hi Herb- enjoyed your video. I had the same issue with a 93 Toyota Corolla. I don't want to break your heart or spoil your expectations. Blue Devil/Bars Stop Leak/ and other sealers usually last (if you are lucky) around a year. What happens is that your head gasket will simply start leaking in another area. I suggest you use the "Pour n' Go" by Blue Devil after a year if it shows loss or not. Unfortunately, sealers do "not get along" with antifreeze and your problem will resurface at any given time. Sealers are a "Band-Aid" to head gasket repairs but I can see your point in your vehicle where the motor must be removed. As far as my Toyota was concerned, I had a severe head gasket leak and I used the "Bars Block Seal" which required the same procedure as yours did with the sealing. I was able to drive the vehicle for another three years by adding sealers annually before I retired the vehicle at 280 thousand miles.

No I did not. The "pour n go" first, which did not completely rid me of my issue, then the "Bars Block Seal" which required multiple steps and allowing it to dry overnight. The Bars got me through another year, but again, the gasket leaked in a different area and ruined my engine. @@marylamb6063

@@HerbOMatic Or just actually replace the head gasket - it's not THAT bad of a job [checks calendar] - wait, I've been working on this for how many weeks now??? 6 weeks tomorrow?? And mine are easy to get to / get out (though they are cast iron heads, so they weigh a lot and I used an engine hoist to get them out/back in again). I'd be very skeptical of the sealers working on a diesel though... compression ratio is a LOT higher!

Super tech oil is actually very good oil they tested it with a bunch of other oils on the farm channel I can't remember the whole name of the channel but super tech did very good against the other oils
I use it in my vehicles for many years keeps my engine clean runs great.

Hey, when does the thermostat get put back into the block?
I’m getting ready to use this stuff on my Jeep and I think that after running it for a day or so I can drain off a couple gallons, replace the thermostat and refill with the Blue Devil mix I drained off. I assume I will get higher temperatures that way.
Does this make sense? Or will this cause this stuff to try and do it’s thing in the hotter block and thermostat thereby gumming up everything?
So I want to know when it is best to install the thermostat. I’m wondering if it is best to do the thermostat after draining and filling with coolant. My understanding (?) is that you want to end up with a mix of Blue Devil and antifreeze to run on until you get to time for your next flush or at least until you forget that stuff is in there.

SuperTech isn't bad stuff, it's made by the same people who make Kirkland Signature, Amazon Basics, and Meijer brand oils (possibly more too.) I believe the manufacturer is Warren Distribution, you should be able to find that on the back of the bottle's label somewhere.
