Rabid Dog was hand-picked by one of the Ten Dons. The Troupe even commented on how surprising it was that he was able to tear through Uvogin's iron skin and said they were pretty good. Then Machi notes that if he used a lethal venom instead of paralyzing, Uvogin would be dead already. I don't particularly like him, but he's the only one that legit seemed unfair lol.

Yes but it meant that he forgot his fundamentals of nen such as gyo and general enhancement, so he was a pretty big failure overall

@@TheAKD56 Yes, he was a beast, and no, he wasn’t weak. However, he squandered his otherwise insane potential while simultaneously not dedicating as hard as someone like netero. So, while not weak, he’s almost definitely much weaker than he’d have been as a pure enhancer.
The clone had an ego, it just wasn't perfect. Kastro had to partially manipulate it.

Kastro's whole point in existence was to explain the ladder of Nen's ability.
Kastro and Netero's powers uses the same application of conjuration and manipulation.
Kastro tries to brute force it, whereas Netero has a restriction of conjuring and manipulating his statue through prayer.
It suits Netero's personality of choosing the hardest path possible
Choosing the hardest path possible is to make the restriction even more powerful. Harder the cost the more aura you get. Plus the real cost is being only in one spot after activation, which is how he manipulates the statue. The prayer is the cost to conjure.
Netero's statue is actually emission, which is closer to his enhancer affinity. it makes no sense to be conjuration since its a creation of his own and not taken after a real object

and you are correct, the manipulation part of the ability is under heavy restrictions to make up for the disadvantage of manipulation for Netero. Basically the hands can move only by following his real hands and that is it.
Being an enhancer also helps Netero with the necessary speed required to achieve his prayer position/stance mid combat, since it is a physical action.
I feel like Kastro is greatly underappreciated, yes he created a skill that doesn't match his enhancer affinity, but it's still an incredibly powerful Hatsu. It caught Killua, a trained assassin, off guard, and made Hisoka struggle to understand the ability, going as far as sacrificing his limbs and using heavy deception to be able to defeat him. That HAS to count for something
It would likely have been more effective if he had some restrictions in place to boost it. Many nen users have powerful abilities that use affinities far from their natural one but they also have restrictions to keep them balanced.
Hisoka didn't struggle, he toyed with him until he got bored
Killua was a begginer nen user, which is all that mattered.
@@r.ipeter6445 Nah, he didn't understand his Hatsu at first and got hit a couple of times, he took some risks and it paid off. But he did struggle at first. Hisoka is of course superior but Kastro deserves some credit

Netero picking his most difficult affinities to base his ability on is such a Netero thing to do. Making things extra hard and challenging to see if he could beat it so in character.
I think ikalgo being an enhancer is a fantastic choice. His most dangerous ability is his sniping which primarily utilizes his lungs. He needs to compress air in his head as much as possible. The more tension he can withstand the faster the bullet goes.
He’s 60% effective with living dead dolls and as such he’s been identified as a fake every single time he’s used the ability. It ties into his character really well. He wants to be seen as a squid but he’s always instantly clocked as an octopus. His personality also matches a lot of enhancers much more imo but that’s hard to argue objectively. He reminds me of gon a lot tho.
Many of ikalgo’s bullets are made from his body and hardened into metal: That’s transmutation. The poison that stops blood clotting is also transmutation. The fleas themselves as well as their twitching are probably conjuration but that’s as far as his conjuration goes.

You know this is a pretty good rationalization of his ability except for the living dolls thing as I don’t remember if he used it a lot for most people to identify it as fake but the king thing I can absolutely see
If anything I could see the buletts as emission since he is an enhancer so basically it is his second best ability, and the blood clotting as you said as transmutation
Just as Komugi Enhances her brain, i think maybe Palm enhances her eyes to be able to see beyond regular sight and the crystal ball she looks through is a limitation set to make it stronger/possible? + her dedication to stalking whoever she is infatuated with at a given time
I don't think so mate. Everyone could play gungi at varying levels of skill so Komugi is enhancing a preexisting ability to extreme levels but nobody can see stuff they aren't looking at but you can see stuff at much farther away with a camera and what can a camera do receive information and send that information to another device like a screen. Also with merman clairvoyance and Wink Blue Palm has that crystal ball thing that I believe to be the screen the thing receiving the data. I think this technique uses emission to receive the visual information but maybe also to imbue aura into a target to gather information in the first place. Basically Komugi enhances what she can already do while Palm is clearly not doing that and giving herself a new ability.
I agree with you. I never thought the ability was as confusing as people make it out to be.
I mean, what if it's not palms ability, she has to use the merman thing so what if she used some form of enhancement on that to do the clairvoyance.
That would explain why as an ant hybrid she has scales, she was a merman ant hybrid

@@_Stray So you are suggesting that she is enhancing the innate abilities of the Merman that may be the case but if it was why would it need blood and for it to be so specific nonetheless but it could be like gas and a car. I could also see an Enhancer boosting a computer's abilities. Yeah I think you may have convinced me a bit but I think the crystal ball is the thing with the magic and the merman statue is how it gets powered.
To be honest Ikalgo being an enhancer does make sense if we look at his biological structure as a Chimera Ant Octopus.
Firsly changing body shape.. Ikalgo is an octopus and octopi are known to change their body texture, color and shape to camouflage. Here Ikalgo would use Enhancement to push his physiology into extreme shape shifting, such as making guns out of his body.
Secondly, possessing other bodies. Octopi also possess the shells of dead animals or even plants by slighly changing their body and fitting into the said shells. So he could enhanc his physiological ability to change shape to such a degree that he can freely fit and use anyone's body.
We humans have rigid bodies that cannot change/alter properties like shape and texture, hence we would need Transmutation/Conjuration (or even Manipulation in case of Illumi). But as an Octopus, enhancing his shape shifting ability is to Ikalgo what enhancing physical strength is to any Human Enhancer.

Wing said that Enhancers are strong enough to not even need an ability. Having one is just an add-on at that point. So honestly, if you’re an enhancer, I don’t see why you wouldn’t create an ability around other affinities to add-on to your already insane offensive and defensive capabilities. Also, as an enhancer, you’re blessed with almost perfect placement on the Nen Chart, as none of your worst affinities fall below 60%, which is still a lot. Add a few restrictions here and there and you can make even something like conjuration work very well. All this to say Kastro isn’t necessarily wrong in his choice to use his worst affinities, because his worst is still better than every other affinities worst; rather, he’s wrong because what he chose to conjure was fucking dog shit for something that took an endless amount of work to pull-off. I could see it working if it wasn’t for combat and instead espionage or something, but the fact that something as simple as dirt brought the downfall of his entire scheme is honestly ridiculous.

And it’s because of this people have a common misconception that enhancers are the strongest Nen users or types
Physically the strongest but enhancers usually have very simple techniques than can be worked around or countered with non physical force
Chrollo said it best: an enhanced like Uvo is so powerful that it’s almost impossible to overpower him
Thus the best ways to beat him were a conjuror that can match his raw power with their own item or a Manipulator to simply end the battle once conditions are met
@Ace Clover well the strongest human nen user feats wise have both been Enhancers(Netero and Gon-san)
I think the biggest reason why enhancers don’t add extra abilities that involve congoration or manipulation is because 60% is still aura intensive and thus the men that they have to enhance with will be lesser thus it is best to make an ability that matches there type or at least is not aura intensive

Many do not use the 60% categories unless its a part of their main Hatsu. NOt their main Hatsu
That was Kastro’s mistake, pushing for a 60% efficiency main Hatsu instead of focusing mainly on his Tiger Bite Fist
In my mind, the Cimera ants are just so stupidly powerful that it actually doesn't matter if they choose different nen types from their natural ability. It just makes them a normal nen user when compared to humans.
After learning Bill's ability was to speed up the growth of things I can't help but think about if he uses his nen ability on Prince Woble
My favourite enhancer also uses conjuration. He conjures hunter x hunter content straight in to my youtube feed. But in a very enhanced form.

I genuinely love Bill. I can't pinpoint exactly why, but he is definitely one of my favorite characters this arc. I think I just enjoy the idea of Bill and Kurapika joint-fathering baby Woble.
I will maintain that Merman Clairvoyance and Wink Blue is likely some strange form of Emission. I think she sends an invisible bit of aura to act as a portal to see through, which is feasible since teleportation in a thing. Whether or not the statue is Conjured and just always maintained is a different story (it could be a condition), but so definitely think it is some sort of emissive ability.

Since she was revealed to be an enhancer I thought she might enhance her natural human prediction capability, making her an oracle of sorts fitting the ability's theme
My headcanon is that it's Conjured because Palm went into the Palace without it, and she had a different one randomly in her head as an Ant hybrid. In the Manga we technically do not see her pull it out, it's just a panel of her having it between her hands. It's a stretch but it makes a lot more sense than it being anything else imo.
Technically kastro could've made his whole gimmick work if he went through the anime training arc that netero did surpassing human limits and gaining massive amounts of aura to use in his techniques. I doubt he would've done any of that if he did survive but hey it's theoretically possible.

I think Ikalgo’s enhancement comes from his ability to change his tentacles into guns. Since Enhancement is the change of the ‘body’s’ physical properties, like Ramoot enhancing his feathers into blades or Youpi’ using metamorphosis
That's conjuration. The only thing Ikalgo does that might be enhancement is inflating to fire the bullets through compressed air.
think changing body was confirmed to be conjuration ajecent look at the old woman butler for example. ramoot makes his feathers as sharp as blades but not actual blades and youpis transformation seems to be a natural part of his magical beast so hard to say what affinity that is.
I think ikalgos enhancement comes from being able to enhance normal things an octopus can do as they are seen to puppet dead bodies in the ocean he enhanced that into an actual hatsu.
Kastro was able to sever hisokas arm while using his two worst nen types at the same time he's pretty skilled
But technically it's not like Hisoka was trying to dodge it, he just let him do it so he can show off his card trick.
I think it's more of a crazy-clown flex of 'haha I get beat you without having my hands... literally' rather than Kastro actually doing anything.
Palm could use emission to project her sight and view distant locations and just add in a few restrictions and you get a very efficient ability

I kind of assume with the latest doorway portal buff to emission that palms wink blue is an emission technique that opens a portal at a 3rd person perspective of whoever she is watching. It’s the only feasible way to not call it specialization I think, however probably due to the distance restraints it can only be used to watch someone, not interact with them
9:13 I think the point about Palm is pretty interesting so here are my two cents
If you ask me Palm's clairvoyance ability makes a lot of sense and could easily be an application of Manipulation, Emission, or both. The Hatsu including Emission in some way is the most likely since Emission is one of the categories next to Enhancement on the nen chart. There is also a precedent for Manipulation and Emission having Clairvoyant or info gathering abilities. The most obvious example of this we have in the manga is Sayird's Little Eye Hatsu from the manga. It is a Hatsu that makes use of Emission and Manipulation and allows the user to gain control over a small creature and allows him to gain the knowledge of anything the manipulated animal sees or hears. Which is similar to a clairvoyance in that it allows the user to perceive things from a distance. Similarly, Kalluto's Paper Doll Hatsu only makes use of manipulation and allows him here anything said within the vicinity of a person after he makes a paper doll version of said target and attatches a piece of confetti to them. Shalnark's Black Voice, which makes use of manipulation, seemingly allows him to see some sort of video or pov from a person he is manipulating via his phone. Knuckle's Hakoware utilizes emission and manipulation and while its main gimmick is its debt and interest feature it does also allow him to track the general location of anybody that's effected. As far as more Emission related stuff goes there's the "ultrasound" ability Ging used where he releases aura in pulses that allows him to detect living things or potentially abnormalities in the human body through walls and other such physical boundaries and areas. Emission also seems capable of teleportation and making portals, as seen with one of the random pirate boxers at greed island. Allowing things to pass through it. I could easily see someone using emission to create some sort of portal or similar equivalent to watch people through. This could be especially effective if one mixed manipulation with it in order to somehow mark a target. It is always possible that the ability makes use of specialization, like she becomes a specialist while using the Hatsu, but this is extremely unlikely and is literally like 0.0001% because she is an Enhancer. If I had to speculate, I would assume the ability makes use of Emission to allow her to observe things from a distance. With the crystal ball, the blood offering and the fact that she has to physically have seen the person with her own eyes acting as limitations. Interestingly when she becomes a chimera and her new clairvoyance ability, Wink Blue, only allows her to be able to see the last three people she's gazed upon with her right eye, and the oldest target is displaced whenever she looks at someone else. This version of the ability seems more convenient but also with a huge limitation on who she can observe. So, I assume the scrying orb was probably not conjured and was probably a physical object. Although, I guess the possibility that this object is infused with nen in some way to allow for someone else like Palm to use it is not impossible, and it is also possible that the orb is even someone else's hatsu, I find it unlikely sense Wink Blue seems to be some sort of take on the Hatsu and might have taken its place.
My personal conclusion is that while Palm's ability is extremely unexplored and in theory could be just about anything I think that it is a nen ability that is totally plausible by making use of what we know about Emission and Manipulation and while mysterious I don't think it is as confusing or nonsensical as a lot of people make it out to be(but my opinion may change if we ever get a confirmation on how it works).
I think my dream would be having you able to discuss all your thoughts of HXH with Togashi so he could clean up loose ends and inconsistencies.
OK, QUESTION: With Palm (prior to the transformation), I've always wondered if Merman Clairvoyance was less of an ability and the merman corpse was more of a Nen infused artifact that she happened to own or find and figure out how to use. The Seed Urn in the succession war is what got me thinking about that. The same way Greed Island cards work. Could anyone come up and drop their blood in the artifact and see targets they stalk, or perhaps even a different reaction based on the users personality. Thoughts?
Definitely not anybody Knov called Palm's blood a precious resource in regard to her Merman Clairvoyance hatsu but if someone had that special stuff that Palm's got in her own blood I don't see why they couldn't use it. The corpse could have been conjured one of two ways the Crazy Slots way of the Texture Surprise way. In other words complete fabrication or object alteration.
About *Ikalgo,* I think his "Enhancement" and Palm's original clairvoyance share an aspect of Enhancement that I don't think a lot of people realize exists: They enhance corpses to use their abilities after death. Palm's crystal ball is actually powered by the statue that she feeds her blood to. This hideous statue is actually called a "mermaid" and is probably the corpse of a magical beast.

I think uvo is in his own tier. Below netero and maha and above S. He was able to spit a part of a skull through an enhancers defense. Kurapika was in emperors time and doing no damage to him with his hits. Then said his enhanced fist is slightly stronger than uvos natural physical strength. Because of the kurapika fight he isn’t given enough credit for how powerful he is.
No one downplays Uvo in his fight with Kurapika except for idiots

Kurapika only won due to three major factors:
Chain jail
1v1 in a secluded area
A plan of action before the battle took place
@@aceclover758Four: Emperor time. Uvo landed multiple hits that only an enhancer "should" have been able to recover from. If Kurapika wasn't basically hacking with his enchantment and conjuration techniques at 100 I would see Uvo taking the dub almost every time.

Emperor time maxes out his categories for a conjuror (80% adjacent, 60% next furthest and 40% for oppposite)

It maxes him out for what a natural conjuror can achieve. So he can use all categories to his maximum potential without any extra training
I think Uvogin should have his own category between S and God. He is someone who uses enhancement 100% and is extremely powerful in terms of aura output.

@@anon2427 kurapika designed the chains with the sole purpose of beating the spiders. It is more a merit for him than a demerit for Uvo. And he still says that the fight with Uvo would be a test because, despite being a absolute beast, his skills were simple and so was his fighting style.
I say that as someone who fought before on amateur muay thai. Sometimes even if your opponent is way more athletic than you, if you have the tools and the skills/fight IQ, you can beat pretty much anyone.

Here’s a thought experiment to see if Uvo is on Netero’s level, if Netero was a member of the troupe and fought kurapika, do you really think pika is walking away from that fight? I believe Palm's ability relies on emission.
If emission can teleport you, I don't see why it couldn't teleport your ability to see. It's also possible this is an emission/enhancement ability, that strengthens your sight and visual processing before transmitting it elsewhere.

I've always wondered what kind of nen ability Tompa would have. You would think manipulation, but Hisoka's personality test could peg him as a transmuter because he lies all the time and has no loyalties.

Palm possibly through her hyperfixation on a target can focus, through nen, all of her attention on them to and channel that info through her tool maybe.
Okay, so here's ym headcanon on Palms ability: The mermaid corpse/crystal ball is an artifact that has (weak)clairvoyant abilities, Palm uses her aura to enhance the artifacts abilities, with blood as its condition for activation.
The shadow beats had simple but strong abilities for their characteristics
Even the Troupe admitted for the beasts only to use “hair and teeth” to pierce Uvo’s skin, they were strong Nen users
Machi (feitan in the 1999) said if they used lethal toxin on Uvo, they would’ve won.

I think Bill is important for the DC more for research and maybe food purposes. He can be used to study all the developmental stages of a plant and some animals. Also probably helping with farming on any colony they set up on the DC. There are 200 beyond.
Ikalgo self-heals to make bullets. He doesn't conjure them. He transforms the tips of his tentacles into bullets and splits them from his body then regenerates his tips. I think he's more Razor/Morel than Kastro in that he dips into every category without skipping Emission&Transmutation. He might only be able to use the ability of controlled bodies from having a lot of aura from enhancement.
Kastro's actual Enhancer ability was powerful. His issue is he stunted his potential but he's basically so strong he thought he could get away with an sub-optimal ability.
I thought Liam knew/did a video about the proper translation on Netero vs Maha? It just means that they are the only people from their generation who used to scrap who are still around. If Don Chinjao and Garp were the last survivors of the Garp/Roger/WB gen he'd be used to talk about how Garp's age.
Palm enhances the item she uses to scout with her blood. Ant form directly feeds it blood/her life-force. Sometimes the simplest explanation is what works best like with Ikalgo instead of always jumping it makes no sense. Like with Knov our mistake was focusing mostly on the Mansion and not the portals to the mansion.
Kastro had incredible potential. He also landed hits on Hisoka and apparently the only one until Gon does.
Netero mastered enhancement when he got to the mountain. His prayer session was decades of enhancing his base abilities that his weakness spawned an ability that was intertwined between the two types of nen.

9:39 Ik what the chart says. But personally I’ve always looked at the 0% Specialist capability for Enhances, Emitters and Transmuters as due to rounding. By this I mean, possible, but so rare and enough standard deviations away from average that after rounding it’s easier to simply say zero. Even if we never get clarity on this, I’d put money on it without hesitation.
Heyyy Kastro’s Tiger Bite Fist was actually a good application of Enhancement. Had he chose to improve it or tapped into Emission (Flying Tiger Bite Fist,anyone?) he could’ve been something special.

I still think Nobunaga has an automatic hatsu. In York New I got the sense that when he told the man not to move that it was cause he couldn't stop the slash. Like a hatsu that automatically attacks any movement within his radius.

but the time it takes to get there is crazy especially in a 1v1
As we can see phinx can throw giant pillars like it's nothing without activating his nen. That means without rolling his arm he can one shot any normal person. Now imagine if he rolls it just twice how destructive his punch is. I think its like a trump card move, disengage, roll up couple times, strike the oppenent at the right moment to kill. Would've have been quite usefull in the zoldyck fight. Chrollo had to keep alot of disengagement in that fight. Imagine if he had phinks ability. Zeno couldn't have grabbed him because his punch would kill him instantly.
People forget how nen is still a tactical mechanism. Even phinx knows that. His power might look simple but in battle its really versatile to keep your enemy at distance or just one shot them at the right moment

I saw some idea somewhere on the internet that they don’t believe Ikago is an Enhancer. I think Ikago is Kastro of the ants.

I honestly think Kastro is being undersold here. He went up against Hisoka and gave him a pretty good fight (possibly the worst shape Hisoka has been in until his Chrollo fight). In fact, if he had better mental, or just used his initial advantage to the fullest, he could potentially have killed Hisoka. Like Hisoka was genuinely confused at the start, and if Kastro used this window to just tiger bite fist Hisoka's head instead of toying with his arms, he could have just... won? Yes, his ability is a bit counterproductive to enhancement, but it's a rather nasty trick when unrevealed and even after the reveal, he can still use it as an "enhancement" of sorts by doubling his attack power (two tiger bite fists). He doesn't really need to disguise the clone per se, he just needs to attack simultaneously with it, giving him two angles of offense, which is a weird but potentially effective way to overwhelm opponents.
Think about this, though. 6:48 - Had his ultimate Nen ability taken his base nen-affinity into account, maybe he could have survived his encounter with a colony of ants.
I feel like Uvogin is really underrated because of his fight with Kurapika he is still one of the strongest characters ever in hunter x hunter it's just Kurapika was prepared very prepared his abilities were specifically designed to defeat the Troupe I am really upset at the fact we'll never see his true power and potential as well as the other members hopefully there will be a phantom troupe spinoff
I would guess Palm’s Merman Clairvoyance would fall into Emission if it’s explicitly not Specialization. If teleportation is Emission, I think viewing far away things would also work through Emission.
judging from Killuas assessment , I would Put Palm in Stier maybe. or atleast roughly in the same Tier as Nobunaga and Phinks (id put all 3 in like A Tier probably personally)
To be fair, kastro had that tiger slash using enhancer ability, but since he lost to hisoka, he tried to use a creative strategy to outsmart or overrun his opponent but requiring manipulation and conjugation using the doppelganger or double techniques while he should have enhanced his enhancer technique to a larger scale line the big bang level of uvo and/or worked on the next affinities transmutation &/or Emission instead of depleting his potential and aura reserves.

Maybe Merman Clairvoyance is using Enhancement with the restrictions of the Merman Corpse and Crystal Ball to allow Emmission and Manipulation of Aura to far away targets and see those areas. Heavy restrictions since it isn't a typical ability, but definitely makes sense. Basically Enhancing her own Nen use to allow long range useage of other affinities

@@joelsanchez9998 Having Aura leave your body over a range is Emmission, yes, but to strengthen it, you either need more Aura or Enhancement. Thus it can be tied to Enhancement through the conditions put in place to make the other elements of the Technique what they are

I feel like netero being such a strong nen user his manipulation doesnt matter is some kind of setup for Ging/Pariston like there is some secret to nen that not many ppl have realized except at its highest level
I always thought that netero as an Enhancer made sense cuz he enhanced his reflexes and bound the manipulation/emission to be restricted by his own speed and having to do these specific hand movements
What I like is Maha's name in malay is associated to godly properties. Like "Maha kuasa" would translate to "All-Powerful" or "Maha mengetahui" to "All-Knowing" so he might very well deserve that spot.

imo Netero's statue is an emission ability. It looks like a nen beast which does not have an independence as other nen beasts produced by natural emitters which would make sense since Netero is an enhancer and may not have such level of skill to produce such nen beasts which if he try to do so would most likely suffer from a Kastro case. That is also why the statue just appear and disappear and not permanently present which also gives the ability it's advantage but just stay stagnant behind him which is a disadvantage. He most likely not controlling the statue in a way that a natural manipulator does but rather he designed it to mimic his movements instead which is also quite limited. Then the statue's zero hand is a transmuter ability which makes his aura mimic light. All of his abilities does not go too far from his natural enhancement affinity. Imo, he just maximized the range of his natural affinity limit of emission and transmutation.

So Palm has used an an ability which utilized her hair. Enhancement is quite fitting in that regard. She has also been (albeit jokingly) portrayed with strange hair before being turned into a chimera ant.
Her clairvoyance ability could be an application of conjuring in combination with enhancement, I guess. It has a lot of restrictions and perquisites, one being her own blood (pre chimera ant) and blood is symbolically often compared to life force, so that may amp up her conjuration of a present vision 🤷🏽
Just an idea. Her chimera ant form restricts herself with sight of one eye, so that might be impactful in regards to nen abilities...
The Maha one was a mistranslation. Iirc, it means that Netero was the only person whom Maha fought who's still alive today. It mostly speaks to how old Netero is since Maha is probably Zeno's grandfather.
I'm pretty sure ikalgo used his hosts' nen abilities, so that would probably make him a specialist too

Most people gotta remember that netero still uses enhancement on the statue. Conjuration, then manipulation of movement to enhancement of attacks. Remember the netero himself can do the same things that his statue can do, this just is more versatile and leaves less danger for the user.
I think palms ability is that she enhances her blood to be special so that she can watch somebody. Knob said to palm that she has special blood and she uses hatsu a lot as seen with the cup scene so maybe she enhances her blood
I always saw the ability of Palm before she become an Ant as coming from the artefact and not from her. Afterwards, the ability of the item somehow was integrated to her. But the hair thing is surely enhancement and manipulation.
couldn't one argue ikalgo took the best part of his nen ability in enhancing the nen bullets and his frame to fire the projectiles at his enemies. as a enhanced small octoant isnt as strong as a killua, and suits his calculative yet timid nature? id put him in C atleast.

i think the points made by other commenters about Ikalgo's nen abilities are a little aside the point and convoluted. Regardless of biology every other major nen-based body transformation we've seen (bisky, tsubone) have been done through extremely talented and specific uses of transmutation. Being a natural enhancer, wouldn't it be more likely that his transformative abilities are from his neighboring category of transmutation?
I would offer that it's MUCH more likely that Togashi's inclusion of Ikalgo on this memo is very intentional and moderately well-thought out. This is the same expo where Togashi revealed his rating system for nen users & abilities, and he was very intentional about who he included on this list. He even went so-far as to deliberately leave Ging in the diagram without indicating his affinity to make a point about his affinity being unknown to us. In the same way he used Kastro & Cheetu to make a point about improper nen application, I think his inclusion of Ikalgo here is to demonstrate that his ability just plain kinda sucks. His distribution is only 2% emission with a 98% lean towards enhancement and its unlikely that he's enhancing the fleadom ability very much. As a chimera ant, Ikalgo is likely to have a high amount of natural aura reserves, and we don't see his emission abilities as being very devastating.
All of the chimera ants are relatively unskilled with nen and don't put much thought into their abilities or typing. Ikalgo's rifle using the fleas is actually a pretty big restriction due to the specificity. instead of using this restriction and genuinely applying it to improve his enhancement or emission, Ikalgo just relies on what appears to be a perfectly non-nen pneumatic cannon combined with emission. If he used any of his likely high aura reserves to enhance the ability, he would have devastating power which we just don't see. It's off memory but I can't recall a time when Ikalgo did significant damage akin to something that a similar ability from franklin or even bloster could do.
It's possible that the enhancement leaning was shown to show us that Ikalgo COULD have had a more devastating ability but chose not to because he's not a killer. Idk its just very like togashi to make intentional critiques of his character's abilities to add intrigue to the world, but its also very like togashi to just forget shit and be weird so who knows
