The Acolyte Episode 5 Review

- This episode shows Mae not exactly sure what she wants to do as the Acolyte that has trained for so many years to get revenge and suddenly changes her mind. The supporting cast shines in this somewhat decent show filled with lightsabers and bad dialogue.
Mae: I'm going to change sides, but I'll tell this guy who's on the dark side just because...
No, bish. You keep smiling and then, when the opportunity presents itself, you stab him in the back and leave.
If you're going to betray someone, do that job properly.
This episode reminded me of when my nephew is done playing with his legos, he destroyes the stuff he build with an old he-man, then just throws the pieces in the bucket.
The acolyte is dumb, everybody just got killed and now whats left is just getting tossed.
Yeah it’s bad. Unbelievably bad.

This is an era when the Jedi where basically the space cops of the republic and they NEVER faced off against a lightsaber wielding opponent. So butts got handed out. I 100% agree with "Mae...what you doin?" and "cut his mutha effin head off" He killed like 8 Jedi bruh!
That makes a lot of sense
it makes sense when it's over. it's supposed to be a mystery. she isn't switching sides, she's trying to survive. the Jedi think she killed Kelnacca too. her plans keep changing because the situation keeps changing. people aren't even trying to figure things out.
But then why would she change when she landed on the planet to kill the wookie? She didn’t know the Jedi were on the planet at the time. Absolutely nothing had changed between the time she landed and changed her mind. MAKES NO SENSE.
💯 People say they want new stories but can't quite handle new stories.
Mae is like Little Red Riding Hood running through the forest with the wolf (Qimir; there's a reason his mask has teeth) after her ass. She gets to the grandmother's (Kelnacca's) house only to find her eaten. Then the huntsman shows up and starts shooting arrows at HER.
She's trying to survive by any means necessary at this point. That's her motivation.

I love this. This is exactly how I felt about the episode
They want us to wait until the 2nd flashback reveal episode to explain many of the main characters actions and motivations but haven't given us any reason to care about these characters enough to be willing to wait until episode 6,7 or 8. We are 5 in and still asking why are they making these bad and strange decisions. Could the payoff possibly justify the price at this point? Who can we identify with when we don't know anyone? Sol's incompetence has lead to the death of 9 Jedi so far. He may or may not share responsibility for the deaths of the Witch coven. He might be tainted by the dark side. Doe's anyone really even care anymore? Even characters that could have been developed like Jecki and Yord because they were not even there aren't but we are supposed to care when they die? Why, they contributed nothing substantial to the plot and we don't even know them? Most people can't even remember the names of the characters. It is very telling that 5 episodes in, people have to look up on IMDB what the hell their names are or just make one up. This could have been executed so much better .

@@smittyssnippets1358 Yord and Osha were Padawans together but lets not explore their relationship. Yord seems to mistrust and dislike her, why? Doesn't mater he's dead now. Jecki is there to be Osha's love interest and to belittle Yord. Why? She is dead now too so doesn't matter. Sol is supposed to be her beloved former master but she was happy to go hit on Jecki one last time and leave without even saying goodbye. Mae is the Jedi's problem now, I am out of here. Why? They can't even explore these relationships, even when they would not negatively effect their overall story arc. It's just bad writing. And then the space bugs will come and carry the misunderstood maybe Sith away. Exit stage left. How are people still defending this garbage?
I think whats going on with Mae is extremely poor writing to show she's "conflicted" and then they'll retcon the castle fire

I love your commitment to the Acolyte. I have not gotten past S1 E1. 💫💫💫💫💫 for the effort. Can the Foundation fans are waiting for S1E7. One dude up against 6 Jedi? Is that even possible? Did the direct / writer even see Star Wars? Clearly not.
I know I gotta get that foundation review out. I was like “she’s gonna get me”. I will get it done.
Smitty, we're on the same page when it comes to this show. Here's my question, when Mae shot at the Sith character, why did she used the stun setting? Why not set the gun on full power? Why only squeeze the trigger once? Double, triple tap that dude. Oh I know, because the Plot say's so. What was I thinking? Mae can take down a Master Jedi, but not a padawan?

Mae-Osha is a hot mess but it's almost done. Curious where this is going. My guess is the Sith are being retconned to establish the Knights of Ren as their heirs. Also more to do with witches throughout the galaxy and what their belief systems are based on.
I just down know why at this point they have not made a new story. They keep getting themselves in trouble trying to match what has already come out

They just deleted two of the 3 good actors on the show. It’s up to Squid Game now. But hey, Manny just upped his game substantially

I stopped watching after episode 2, I think. The plot holes were simply ludicrous! Judging from your rants about the series, Ididn'tr miss much and your rants a more entertaining than any episonde of Acolyte I've seen! Sad when a series is not bad enough to hate watch like Invasion or Another Life!

I hear the show is pirated a lot less than other shows.
I tried. I hung in but after episode 5 I'm done. I tuned it off halfway through the episode. I eventually went back and finished the episode but I won't finish this show. It's just terrible.
Is this the dumbest Star Wars series? I think so, even in the face of some really stiff competition.
I have to agree with you. When they start making the story the most important thing then maybe this BS will get better. But yeah right now it’s the worst.
It's really fun to watch this series... It's unintended comedy! It's just as bad as Obi Wan, Mandalorian S3, Ahsoka or Book of Boba Fett. Disni... (I sadly disagree, I find coreographies kinda stupid too).
