No one sings Gospel as good as Elvis. Unbelievable, touching
Piece of Magic!
Elvis rappin' here... Before there was such a thing!👑👍
Love this jumpy and rhythmic gospel song..... Elvis and his gospel are still the most selling today. His voice is always distinctive and uniquely wonderful 💯⚡❤️
Elvis’s three Gospel albums are all so beautiful. One can tell he loved this type of music with all his heart. JD and others said after his concerts they would stay up for hrs afterwards singing Gospel. Thank you.
Splendid
One of my favorites.. the King
I love Elvis gospel albums! He's sooo good doing these songs.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Elvis and gospel go hand in hand 🎵💙🎶
Elvis! One name... 👌
One
Of
My favorites! Hope you’re well.
There's a movie clip from The Trouble with Girls of Elvis singing this. He looks sooo good in it!
Loved the song but then Elvis makes everything his! I loved that it was upbeat. Gospel doesn't have to slow and and serious. God wants us to be joyful and you can hear this with Elvis.
Elvis made any song his own.
Que máximo 😍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
By 1966 Elvis was getting pretty fed up with making the formulaic movies by all accounts and the only way of getting him to the recording studio was to make a gospel album, gospel being his favourite type of music. This album actually won one of his only three (shockingly few!) Grammys. I'm not particularly religious myself but Elvis singing gospel is truly divine ❤
So true, shockingly few
Good old fashioned Southern Gospel. Elvis did a great version. Such true lyrics!
Elvis makes me really love this song a lot more than I probably would if not for him! Loved your reaction as well, as always ☺
FTD: "Follow that Dream"
I love the super fast, staccato delivery of Elvis, almost like a machine gun, and perfectly delivered.
Never heard the alternate version, slower, but easier to understand the lyrics.
You can tell it's an old song, "Midnight rider" isn't just referring to criminals but was also used to describe the Klan.
"Parker"- never occurred to me but yeah, LOL.
Excellent review.
Hi Nick,
Great Analogy of the Rhythm of the song, being like a Train going down the Tracks. ☺️👍❤
FTD stands for follow that dream
Finally Elvis Sunday❤❤
He pushed his voice each year and the thickness of the vocal chords and strength increased which changed his range and tone
I loved both versions I love his gospel songs
Elvis' voice is perfection! His Gospel is absolutely amazing! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥! Thank you so much for continuing your Elvis Journey!! Love your Elvis Reactions!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤!
Perfection as always thanks nick gospel belongs to elvis ❤👑👑👌
I love that song Happy Sunday Nick and God bless you and your family
Oh my goodness. I absolutely love this song.
"Run On" reminds me of "Joshua Fought The Battle Of Jericho." Similar in instrumentation and tempo. Great song, great reaction. Thanks much.
Elvis singing the music that made him happy....how sweet it is ❤ I can't stop smiling...a great way to start my day !! Thank you Nick for reacting to this gem 💎. I always look forward to Elvis Sunday with you. So special for all of us.🌻
Thank you as always 🙏🙏🙏
Your spot on Nick!
100% Elvis put his stamp on every song he sang.
This song is such a mood lifter..
Soulful and fast-paced
Another fantastic Elvis Sunday 😊 thank you ❤
'Clean up your own backyard'
is a song you should react to. It's from the movie The trouble with girls, so there's a performance to watch too.
Thanks!🙏
Fascinating comment from his mother that Elvis could carry a tune when he was still too young to know the words. imho music was his essence. In some performances, he would have a sheet to remind him of the words, but he apparently remembered tunes more readily
Elvis was his most happiest when signing gospel. I think it also brought him some peace. It was said that @ very end of his life he started talking about doing a gospel tour; I don't know if it was true but it came from someone in his inner circle. Have a nice week. Oh, maybe you can do the '72 version of "How Great Thou Art" (Hampton Roads) th-cam.com/video/S2v4iOV6Ph0/w-d-xo.html.
Hello Nick. Run On with its fast, upbeat listing of sins is a disguise, you might say, for the fear man feels when anticipating judgement day. I believe that this song epitomizes the angst that Elvis felt everyday of his life. He had traveled so far from Tubelo (even though it was a few miles from Graceland) but it was there that as a young member of a congregation, he knew only a life centered around God. Elvis later became God like to so many and existed in such a highly altered reality that afforded the ability to command at will. By all accounts, he seemed to both love and hate this glory bestowed upon him for he was heard many times saying “I am just a man”. I believe there was an epic battle between devil and angels that raged for his soul. Don’t ask me why we all know that the angels won…we just do.
As always Nick, your exploration of this one-of-a-kind man is so very warm and caring.❤️
THANK YOU LOVED IT ❤❤❤
One of my favorite gospel songs, the song is top notch in every aspect. Unfortunately he never sang this live, why I never know but that's the wonders of him.
I came to think of another one of my favorite Elvis gospels, "I'm Saved", it's included in his gospel medley from his 68 comeback show. Have you seen his gospel medley from the 68 C.B.? If not put it in your forthcoming reaction list. There's also a studio recording of I'm Saved that's even better as a double reaction.
I’ve seen the whole 68 show, but so long ago that, that would definitely be worth a revisit.
Hello from Australia I'm pretty sure I requested this?, Another Rockin Gospel by Elvis is called, I JOHN. You'll love it, stay safe, AUSTRALIA.
Hi from another Elvis fan from Australia
Thanks! 🙏
The beard was probably during the time he was filming “Charro” He is magical 🥰🥰🥰
Johnny Cash covered this song but it is titled “God’s Gonna Cut You Down”.
If you've never seen Elvis with a beard that means you haven't seen his movie 'Charro'. It's a western and it's the only film he made where the only song he sings is the title song at the beginning over the opening credits th-cam.com/video/1KInSnntbHw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=THzINgk_xJqS_flS
In the picture you saw he was growing a beard in preparation for making this movie.
I have to catch up on a lot of his movies 😊
O yes i liked it, gospel and Elvis, fantastic, can't you do one day more, PLEASE NICK
anyway thank you for this one, have a nice Sunday, greetings from Belgium
😂😂 Would that I could. Between day job/ family and TH-cam my time is full 😉
@@PopularTripeNick 😞😞😞
I think that version you were talking about is Johnny Cash's version called "God's Gonna Cut You Down", which is the same song just a different name :)
It’s likely you are correct with that!!
Love this! I couldn't find an appropriate place to ask this. But do you have a video about your background. All your videos and movie pieces behind you on the shelves. I think it would be interesting to be "introduced" to your collections!
Ah thank you 🙏 It has been something I’ve been looking at doing for a while now, what you see behind me is about 10-15% of my collection 🤦🏻♂️ everything else is boxed up in any spare space/dark corner of the house - but I will need to take the time out and go through it all as I’ll need to offload a lot I think, as there’s no room for anything else! Might as well switch a camera on while I do it 😂
Have you seen the gospel part from the 68 comeback special? If not, please do.
I’ve seen the whole show, but so long ago that, that would definitely be worth a revisit 😉
I found that alternative takes never really match up to the original that was released. Or could be much the same or not as good.
FTD stands for Follow That Dream, a “label” for very special releases of full Elvis recording sessions with all the takes of all the songs from the session. They are very limited editions and expensive. These releases are great for hearing how Elvis constructed the song and built up to the master take.
Hi again Nick. I just listened to the versions of Run On before Elvis’ version. There’s no doubt that the version by the Golden Gate Quartet influenced Elvis’ version the most. This one of Elvis’ most favourite gospel groups and he recorded many songs previously recorded by them like Swing Down Sweet Chariot and Joshua Fit The Battle
