One question. Are you going to leave the butter on the counter or put it in the fridge? If leaving out, maybe should have concave the bottom of the butter dish.

Good question, Was thinking on the counter, just reviewed the video and failed to mention the top of the base is only sanded with 40 grit; however, I do like the concave idea!

@@chrischase6731 where I live it will be okay as it doesn’t get that hot except for one or two days out of the year, so another good point for a concave bottom...

I wonder if these would sell. Haven't seen one in years. Might catch people's fancy. (I don't sell but am interested in good gifts. )
I'm new at the table saw. Did be that kickback happen because of the thin piece, or did you pinch the blade with your pushstick? That seemed awkward pushing it through.

Not sure if they would sell or not, I honestly don’t try to sale items anymore and keep this as a hobby not a job. The kickback took place because of the width between the blade and fence and my lack of push stick behind it. If I were to do it all over again, I would use masking tape to cover the blade well so that I could have the push stick behind the piece at all times and not have a piece drop in or kick back.

@Clever Woodworks thank you so much for the reply. Now I'm more confused than ever. I really am new at the table saw. What do you mean by masking tape to cover the blade? I have not noticed anyone cutting from the open side of the blade, usually I see people standing behind their fence. And I didn't know that a pushstick behind the piece being cut would stop kick back? I thought that was caused by the blade being pinched on the far side where the cut piece and offcut exit the cut, allowing the saw blade to grab on and throw it backwards, or stumpy nubs channel recently had another kick back they caught on camera where the offcut piece was mistakenly nudged/twisted into the front of the blade as the person followed through the cut with their push block.

Oh! Are you talking about using masking tape or duct tape to make a zero clearance insert? So the thin piece wouldn't drop in. I got that part of it now!

@@rwind656 I touched on the masking tape in the latest video how to make a table nest 3/3 th-cam.com/video/uYdVOy1Ss44/w-d-xo.html. As for this it is not truly kick back as it is not pinched and thrown backwards, it’s just thrown backwards because there is nothing holding it as the push stick wasn’t behind it. Here is an article that has some great aspects to keep in mind www.woodmagazine.com/woodworking-tips/techniques/safety/tablesaw-safety. Moreover, please keep in mind to keep your cool and do not rush things.

@@CleverWoodworks Thanks, took me a ponder to understand what you were saying about no push stick behind.
It's very kind of you to send the link. It's a good list. We are trying hard to have safety as number one priority. I only use the table saw supervised for now by someone experienced, and we are setting more stringent rules like those in the list. We already had a shorter checklist before making a cut.
In return, I'll pass along a different type list you might not have seen, in case you can then pass it to another in future. (Or maybe a future reader will benefit.)
      www.woodworking.org/AccidentSurvey/search.htm
It's a collection of accident reports self-reported by woodworkers, organized by tool.
"Below are the 800+ accident reports we've collected over the last 13 years. They're arranged by tool in PDF files. Some will inform you and some will make you wince.
Some of the advice may or may not be helpful, so use your own judgement. Bandsaw, Belt/Disc Sander, Belt Sander, ... (snip)... Reciprocating Saw, Router, Scrollsaw, Shaper,
Tablesaw, Thickness Sander, Others Not Listed "
It's good reading. Sobering reading. After awhile, the similarities in reports for a particular tool starts coming home. In fact, I thought one of the tools I'd used with imagined impunity for years around here would be hard to hurt yourself with compared to others, and reading the accident reports opened my eyes to dangers I had no clue about. Worth reading imo.
