Thank you for this recording. What a treasure! I'd love to talk to anyone who ever heard Berryman give a reading or met the man. He's my second favorite poet (after Lowell, obviously . . . I assume Lowell is the other writer Berryman refers to along with Saul Bellow). Thanks again.
Man I loved the way this guy talked.
Mr. Bones; by most who believe the end was a long time coming, but did willfully decide not to end, we may never have met you John Berryman.
Thanks for putting this up
My pleasure. Enjoy.
The poem starts at 6:50.
And the first 6:49 is Berryman gold w/ his hilarious self-introduction!
Thank you for this! I've only just discovered this man and I'm blown away.
thank you so much for posting! :D
this is so precious. I really wish the audio was better, but that in no way means I am not grateful

Thanks again, added to a playlist...
Indeed.
When I worked at UIowa's library, they had a 78 record of red vinyl with Berryman reading. Unsure if it's the same reading or not. 8 years passed now-
Drunk I imagine but a bit of a genius. I feel sad listening to it to be honest
Was he referring to Delmore?
he was very drunk
No, they don't.
Cringeworthy.
