Are you going to do it anyways?

This was very informative. My floors are suitable for a screen job. No damage or major issues.

Great video and great advice. You are spot on with this. I have been doing hardwood floors for 40 years and this is what I tell the customer when they ask about recoat instead of sanding back to the bare wood. Thanks again and I will tell customers about your info on youtube.

This video and your comment helped me. I am a big DIYer and our floors were refinished about 15 years ago - sanded and 3 coated of poly. No shoes ever in the house. Floors are in very good shape but losing some of the poly in a few spots. I lightly took some 100 grit to it and nothing flaked so I think I’m in good shape. One question - What poly do you recommend? Thank you in advance for your response!

Hello and thanks for the video. Ive just recently considered offering screen and recoats for woodflooring as I'm in the carpet cleaning business and carpet is diminishing. After watching your video I have more question than answers lol. I'm doing what most do these days as a starting point and that is watching you tube and Ive seen a lot of guys doing a stripping process 1st if there is a topical coating or wax. I know you mentioned cleaning wont help but does stripping the floor make it a canidate to continue with screen and recoat? Or are these guys in the videos asking for trouble? I know the floors look good to me (the untrained eye) but who knows how it holds up.
My next question is about knowing which type of polyurethane to put down after the screen and recoat. Before doing any research I assumed you didnt want to go back and forth between oil and water based polyuerthanes but was told different depending who I asked. So I was wondering your take on what to use and what not to use when doing this process? Is there a general rule to follow or heck do you have a place you know of where i can this info?? Or do you offer any training? I just feel your info in this video was more in depth than most and I was hoping there was a place i could dig in a little more.
    Thanks for your time!!
    Kevin

The floor on the house I just moved in was coated with a clear coat without sanding just for show better as open house. I don’t know what kind of coat was applied. After walking around by many people and moving furnitures, coat on some areas starts to peel off and it looks awful. i have to peel them by my hand😅 it’s very satisfied and frustrated if you know what I mean. Now the floor is pretty back on its original status without coat- with many scratches on dull and old floor.I know it needs to be finished again but I don’t want the same clear coat peeled off is applied again. I don’t know what to do next without sanding.
