10th January 1982 - Continuity & adverts around a cartoon followed by the film The Italian Job. Sadly the recording doesn't last long enough to show whether the Granada logo slides off screen altogether...
6:36 - Because I lived down South during this time, there was a cultural variation. Instead of the Signal toothpaste ad saying 'Tea', it said 'Supper'.
I guess folk outside the NW must have that same WTF moment, when Holimarine comes on that I get when I see an ad for some mad shop we didn't get, like Neebs, lol.
What makes me laugh is the guy at the ad agency who picked Jimmy as “suitable” to do a british rail campaign seemed really proud that he managed to get Jimmy to do it, it was in a documentary on the history of british rail on BBC four before the scandal about him was outed in 2011!!!!
Jesus 16+% APR for saving £500, yes please. The inflation rate was 8.6% in 1982 too, so it like 10% higher now, and you're lucky to get 2% on savings today. £500 is about £2250 in today's money BTW.

Such a great upload, many thanks!

Very retro classic boxes on that Bassetts advert
"Pinch more than an inch" is one of those everlasting taglines that you remember more than the product it was coined for!
A really top notch selection of ads...apart from one :-/
Duncan Preston in the Special K advert and I'm sure that was Gorden Kaye and Mickey Pearce from Only Fools and Horses in the Zanussi one.
Mark Turpin Yes its Gorden Kaye in the Zanussi advert
And Poison Pearce from London's Burning in the Twix ad.
And the brought "Savvo" in by train. Certainly the age of naivety not just the train.
I remember most of these adverts from my HTV West days
Mickey Pearce from Only Fools And Horses in the Zanussi advert and Kevin The Teenager's dad in the Kellogg's Special K one too :)
have you got any Granada continuity stuff from Malcolm brown.
Oh God, the Kandym- oh, Mr. Bassett! Sorry, I wasn't prepared.
"The Age Of The Train" was too old for Jimmy Savile.
This is the age of consent!!!!

Can you imagine sharing a train with that nonce? Dear God! 0_0
I feel bad saying this but young Chris Tarrant looks awfully like Savile....
so you should...
