    This video is not sponsored in any way and I don't have any relationship with vendors mentioned in the video. Also, there are no affiliate links so I don't benefit of any subsequent purchases of any of these models.

    👋 hi, I do like the way you have chapters within this video. Surprising times when we think nearly £200 is good value for a single simple model lol

    • @EuviRail
      @EuviRail  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's all relative I guess but ~ £150-£160 for DCC Ready model is a threshold for me for more complex diesels (Bachmann, Accurascale). Simpler or legacy models (most of the Hornby diesels, many of the Dapol) should be more in the £100-£130 bracket yet they tend to be £40-£50 more even when discounted. It is crazy.

    Hattons also had pre-owned APTs for around £250 so I was able to pick one up (its much less without VAT for overseas) what a steal!

    Some great bargains you highlighted there. Especially the class 58 at 99.99!!!! I picked up a Bachmann Rail freight Grey Class 20 DCC sound for £180 from Kernow this time last year. Probably the best bargain I’ve managed to get

    For Steam enthusiasts I'd recommend the re-tooled Hornby A1 in LNER green @ £124 from TMC, which is half price.
    That Bachmann 1st gen DMU looks excellent VFM.
    Also, I'd recommend visiting your local model shop, as they often have offers that beat those online.

  • @StormmyStormmy

    Hi, great review of some very good bargains, the Hornby HST set is excellent value for money, be careful of the noisy roof fans! I asked Hornby if I could but a new fan unit for my 21 pin dummy car, they want me to send my dummy car to them to have a look at, I seen too many videos of customers who have sent their models in and get them back with more damage and things not be repaired properly, hats off to those who got items repaired at didn’t get additional damage etc, I have an immaculate hst set and I want it to stay that way, sorry if I sound untrustworthy of Hornby and postal services, I just want a new unit that I can fit myself, I’m not the only customer with noisy roof fan units, I won’t buy another HST set from them again, thanks for sharing.

    • @EuviRail
      @EuviRail  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks. for that. There does appear to be a clearance issue with the fans which I neglected to mention in the review. I had to take the scalpel out to resolve when I go the set initially. Sorry to hear of repair return issues.

    I purchased the bachmann 108 about 2 weeks ago with a extra 10% offered. so 134, which was amazing value even given how old the tooling is. problem was the motor failed after 20 laps of my 14.5x10.5ft layout running in, luckily TMC are dealing with it, so hopefully the new one will be OK!
    PS just bought the DCC ready 24 from Kernow for 157 too, so a real bargain!

    • @EuviRail
      @EuviRail  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's an early life failure for sure which I guess you can get from time to time. Hopefully it's not an endemic problem. TMC should sort you out alright and price wise that was excellent. Yeah, the 24s are very tempting. Again, can't complain on the price front. Thanks for sharing.

      Hi Alan, I will for sure. I have a number of variants on pre-order. I'm not sure IRM would want to give me an early release given some past criticism I've voiced on some of their models! I'm a huge IRM supporter but I have to call out issues when I find them.

    After being a tad bitten by revenue and the Royal Mail how much extra can be added to the eventual cost, of Delivery to Ireland.

    • @EuviRail
      @EuviRail  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Derek,
      The first thing is to ensure the retailer is willing to ship to Ireland. TMC, Hattons, Kernow and Rails all do but Model Railways Direct do not. The next thing is whether they are registered for Irish VAT or not. Hattons are (and so are Hornby themselves) so what you pay them is inclusive of Irish VAT and their package should sail to you door without interruption or added cost. It doesn't always happen but the vendor will sort you out if you do get charged VAT here. For the others, the VAT is deducted at source so you receive the notice from the carrier that VAT is due when they arrive in country plus a handling charge which can vary by carrier. Unfortunately eBay has become effectively a no go from the UK as even Rails on their eBay site can't handle the deduction of UK VAT so you end up paying Irish VAT on top of the UK VAT. I hope this helps.

    Do we really think that £99 without lighting is good value? 😂 Surely in 2023 this should be as standard, and fireboxes on steam

    • @EuviRail
      @EuviRail  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I assume you're referring to the £99 EFE Rail Class 58? This does have directional lighting but no cab lighting however. A £99 model like some of the Hornby Railroad range with no lighting definitely doesn't cut it, 100%.
