I'm shocked that sleep texting is possible. The fact that people can unlock their phones, navigate to their messaging apps, select a conversation, and start typing (and even send images?!?!) shows how remarkable our brains are.
I once cooked dinner for five people while sleeping, went back to bed, and was completely baffled when one of them thanked me the next day. So yeah. The brain is an amazing and fearfully weird slab of meatstuff.

I take heavy meds at night and whilst I was paralyzed (or having a seizure, IDK till this day) I spam texted my mom panicked gibberish and I managed to call her, I faceplanted on the ground until I was able to move myself fully... shit was terrifying, luckily there weren't any spontaneous knives facing upright.
My mom recently sleep-texted me a recipe for Japanese fried chicken while she was at a chemotherapy appointment. I thought it looked delicious from the pictures, so I texted her asking if she would make it. She had no recollection of ever sending it to me, but we tried it anyways and absolutely loved it.
That is not the ending I expected. But it is a wholesome one. I hope the chemo works. Similar kept my mum going, without suffering or side-effects, for many years. I hope for full remission for your mum.💜

I think that it exists in two forms: 1. Falling asleep while your phone's open and accidentally using the keyboard or 2. Being mostly asleep but awake enough to do stuff and wanting to inform someone about something that happened in a dream or is on your mind, I've done this one a few times to my partner lol

I started a journal of funny things my husband says when he takes ambien. My two favorites are “Wait, are you my wife?” and “I declare this day, September 28, a holy day of hilarity.”
Oh god, Ambien. My mama took Ambien for years. One time she knocked on my door at like 4am and opened the door to see me sitting in my room with the lights on, sitting up in a chair, reading a book. I put my book down and said "Hey, you okay? You need anything?" after which she squinted at me for a very long time with a very confused look on her face and whispered "are you awake???" the way you do when you dont want to speak too loudly in case the person really is asleep. I looked at her and sarcastically said "Oh yeah, I just have really gotten into reading books in my sleep lately. You know how it is." And she 100% seriously said "Okay sorry I love you I'll let you sleep" and left. I cried laughing at that.

It would never in a a hundred years have occurred to me that sleep texting is a thing.
I think that it exists in two forms: 1. Falling asleep while your phone's open and accidentally using the keyboard or 2. Being mostly asleep but awake enough to do stuff and wanting to inform someone about something that happened in a dream or is on your mind, I've done this one a few times to my partner lol

I started a journal of funny things my husband says when he takes ambien. My two favorites are “Wait, are you my wife?” and “I declare this day, September 28, a holy day of hilarity.”
Oh god, Ambien. My mama took Ambien for years. One time she knocked on my door at like 4am and opened the door to see me sitting in my room with the lights on, sitting up in a chair, reading a book. I put my book down and said "Hey, you okay? You need anything?" after which she squinted at me for a very long time with a very confused look on her face and whispered "are you awake???" the way you do when you dont want to speak too loudly in case the person really is asleep. I looked at her and sarcastically said "Oh yeah, I just have really gotten into reading books in my sleep lately. You know how it is." And she 100% seriously said "Okay sorry I love you I'll let you sleep" and left. I cried laughing at that.
There's also Muscimol which is found in the Amanita Muscaria mushroom, which is basically the precursor to Ambien. It even works on the same receptors in the brain. That one had me thinking that mirrors had time limits and that the moon was the eye of James May.
