I have many veterans in my family - Dad and an uncle were Airforce, another uncle was US Navy, oldest uncle was US Army in WWII and Korea. I myself served two hitches - four years Airforce and six years US Navy. Today has a lot of meaning for me.

I'm a Veteran as well, Mark, the only one I my family to ever serve. Memorial Day is always a hard one for me for those I lost 😔 Sending prayers to everyone who lost a loved one who's sacrifice kept us safe and free 🙏🫡

Amen. Nearly all of the men on my Dads side of the family served. Dad is a wounded Viet Nam Vet Marine. My Uncles and cousins all served in either the Army or Marines. Myself and one of my younger brothers served in the USAF. My Mom had an Uncle, my Great-Uncle, who paid the ultimate price aboard the USS Indianapolis. After reading Kevin Wooldridge's post, I offer my condolences to you and your wife. I had no idea. Peace and love Brother.

Both my grandfather's fought in WW2, my father in-law fought 2 tours in Vietnam. We lost him five years ago. I have a nephew that is currently serving in the US Coast Guard. And in the next few years I'll have my son serving our great country in the US Air Force. I have a lot of love and respect for our veterans and first responders. They're always in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you to those that gave their lives for our freedom and to their families as well. And thank you for those that are currently serving! May our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ bless them, this great nation, it's people and other nations that are seeking for freedom. ❤

Very well said and very moving. I had two uncles fight in Guadalcanal, four uncles in Korea, two cousins and many, many friend in Vietnam. They all returned home safe, but were never the same again. The action and the atrocities they saw and apparently did, were, and are with them to this day. But each and everyone says the same thing, even two of my very good buddies who are struggling from the effects of agent orange. I would volunteer to do it all over again. God bless them and all others who serve and/or served this country and protected our liberty and our freedom. God bless them all.

Thank you Mark, my dad was a korean vet in the Air Force in Pusan south Korea, he went home to be with the Jesus 2 yrs ago, and freedom is not free,my brother and myself were in the AirForceROTC back in the late 80"s,so let"s thank all the vets and GOD for the freedom that we have

Thanks Mark, what a great reminder of why we should never take our God given freedoms for granted, Old Glory waves on their last breaths as they paid for our right to be free. I'm reminded of the (anonymous) quote - Only two persons have died to secure your freedom, the U.S. Soldier and Jesus Christ, both shed their blood for your freedom. Our freedoms as U.S. Citizens came with a price paid since the first patriot laid down his life for freedom and eachone thereafter. Jesus Christ, paid for your citizenship in heaven, all for believing and asking, it may be "free on our part", he gave his all doing his part to purchase our right to be called sons & daughters of the most high God! #NeverForget
