Brian I agree with you, in watched some of your bear hunting videos and decided I want to do that. Got off my ass started eating better, hiking more lost 30 pounds and have never looked back. I now love my backcountry hunts.
Good for you man similar boat over here spent the last 8 months alcohol free, in the gym 5 days a week and lost almost 70lbs life has turned 180 for me. I’ve always backpack hunted I just got tired of making it harder on myself year after year. It’s on this year. Good luck this year
Been elk hunting for 30 plus years and I still learn about new gear that will help. It’s how we learn and pass it on. I don’t recommend the same gear that I would have 10 years ago . Thanks for all the hard work.
Great conversation! As an East Coast hunter that travels west every other year to chase elk solo for 10-15 days off my back, you're spot on that there are not many people that can do that. On Cliff's channel he talked about this. I had a few people reach out to me, asking if they could go hunting with me, and most people are tapping out between day 5-7. Assuming they are treating themselves good with food, mental fortitude, not afraid of the dark, and the like. Regarding trying to hunt with more seasoned hunters, I have a saying that you are the average of your friends. This is applicable to school, work, sports, hunting and the like.
As always, great show. Cliff is awesome and his channel is great! Every episode I pick something new up that helps me get a little better. Thanks for sharing!
Ive never heard anyone else ever talk about how you can surpass the people you start hunting with and them still seeing you the same. I have definitely noticed that with one of my friends. They just assume that all my success is "Luck" when im literally living and breathing this shit and all they are doing is paying to go on a guided hunt every 2 or 3 yrs. Im always trying to talk "shop" with them about new gear or tactics and they are still back in the 90s getting all their info from hunting magazines.
Years back started my learning curve with gritty. Expanded knowledge much faster then time could give. Over last 2-3 years, Cliff has been the man! He has taken the 101 classes to the 401. Our small hunt group just sits around fire and beers discussing episodes, tactics, and hunting goals...We appreciate both of your time and effort.
Dear Brian keep up the good work!!!! Very good conversation between the 2 of you!!!!!! I have not been interested in Cliff stuff. Will be adding him to my list. You saying that you still watch his material speaks Highly!!!!!!! I live back east and don't have the need for mountain gear so much. But I also can't afford 2 sets of gear. So I'm purchasing some of your mentioned gear that I can use Herr first or heavy use stuff.
I've been watching Cliff for a few years after 8 yrs of no elk shot a bull 4 yrs in a row. Watching Gritty, first year hunting bears, found 6 bears. All good stuff, good guys, good information.
I have been listening to you since shortly after you started. I’ve watched you grow and change over time. I haven’t always agreed with everything you say and do yet I still respect what you bring to the table. You’ve had my ear for hours episode after episode.
Great podcast and info on both you guys as always. The gear and listeners conversation was funny. I think viewers honestly watch out for guys like yourselves gear so intent because you do hunt so much more than the average guy they can use your work and knowledge on gear to hopefully buy once save a lot of money in this industry of a billion products and have confidence in the gear. myself and my hunting group do this too alongside with a bit of our own research but living in Canada and not being able to see most this gear or feel it and having to blind order it we do rely pretty heavy on American hard core hunters word on it lol it is what it is. That said any gear you guys have actually reviewed or endorced/suggested that we have bought (there has been a lot) we are super happy with so thanks.
Either of you have a product idea you want designed modified made I'm trying to break away from the corporate world and follow in the gritty footsteps. I'm open to anything you can come up with
Cliff is awesome. Brian, regarding the conversation around time 55ish I think sometimes people can relate to folks who are better then they are, but who are not on the level of a god. I find that people who have recently struggled at something can often be better teachers even if they don't know as much as a "god" person especially if the "god" person is a natural at it. So maybe you were only just a Moses back then rather than a "god".
Don’t discount your own experiences in life. We all too often don’t have the confidence to share our experiences because we think we need more information or more time spent on the mountain. You don’t need to be an expert at x,y,z. But you are an expert at you. Be confident in you.
Hey Brett, I looked through our filters and searched for a comment from you-I couldn’t find anything. If you tried to leave a comment but it disappeared we had nothing to do with it. TH-cam has become very censorious over the years and YT will block certain language-but usually you can tell that YT is blocking your post because the edit screen just stalls and/or it usually gives you an error screen.
@@GrittyGearAndPodcast I didn't think you had anything to do with it .. it was kind of a long comment for me I usually don't comment much .. heck I'm getting old I might of forgot to hit the reply button .. . enjoy your stuff you guys are killing it .. literally lol

Very informative. I’m going to Colorado in September for elk and black bear that’s what turned me onto your videos trying to learn all I can.
Great conversation!

Yo! Any updates on the film school?
We decided we did not have the time to do it this year. We will have everything prepared to launch sometime next year 👍
