We hope you enjoy this cover of Best Day of my Life as performed by our Shambhala School Grade 6/7 class of 2021/2023 with the guidance of our Music Director, Mr. Jason Campbell. Students originally performed this piece during a recording session at the school on February 22nd, 2022. We encourage you to check out the other great students performances shared via livestream on May 2nd, 2022 as part of Sun Rocks! LIVE 2022. Our year end music performance is currently scheduled to happen in person at Shambhala School on Wednesday, June 8th, 2022.
The Shambhala School Music Program is designed to involve the students in the performance and appreciation of music in a meaningful and disciplined fashion. We develop the young performer’s talent, ability, self-confidence, creativity and fun attitude towards the performance of music through participation in an active and dynamic program.
The Shambhala Music Program fosters a love and appreciation of popular music. We learn to play, perform, listen to, analyze, and discuss music from the 1940's to the 2020's. We study the music theory required to follow lead sheets, analyze chord progressions and improve songwriting. In addition to theory and academics, this is a performance class. As such, the class learns to function as a band or in some cases, to collaborate within smaller ensembles. This group prepares music for performance and presents at least two concerts per year. Student song selections cover a variety of styles including rock, jazz, blues, folk and world music.
Music, visual arts, and drama are a valued part of the Shambhala School curriculum. Arts integration deepen student learning and give the students a powerful voice for communicating to an expanding audience. As part of our Arts programming at Shambhala School, middle school students enjoy Music and Art with professional artists three times a week. In addition, in the Spring of the year middle school students put on a dramatic production of a Shakespeare play.
