I don’t judge animation by how shiny and fluid it is, but by it’s ability to successfully convey the emotions of characters and the atmosphere of a scene efficiently. And Lotgh nails that, because even though it’s limited it’s well-directed.

    Some thoughts about Annerose:
Despite Reinhard indirectly being the cause of Kircheis's death, Annerose continued to act in the best interests of her dearest little brother. By removing herself from Reinhard's life, and with Kircheis's death, he is left with little option but to struggle forward and move on with his life, with nothing in the past to tie him down. Some people have misintepreted this scene to mean that Annerose has now become cold towards Reinhard, while in reality it's quite the opposite. Thanks to Annerose, he can now continue on with his mission without falling into despair or forgetting the values of justice and fairness that Kircheis espoused.

Reinhard accepted Fahrenheit into his group because he was a temporary subordinate to him back in the Overture to a new war movie (in the battle of Astarte) along with Merkatz, but both were forced to join Braunschweig’s league.
From Reinhard’s experience with him he knows that Fahrenheit has good judgement and that he would’ve joined him from the start if it was up to him.

Welcome to LOTGH. The show that isn’t afraid to make the bold moves in terms of writing. One of the many reasons I love it!

To admit to Kircheis that he let himself be "manipulated" by Oberstein is not something Reinhard's pride would ever allow. You can call it stupid, but that is the reason he claimed responsibility for the Westerland incident and tried to justify it to himself (and Kircheis).

We could see changes in certain aspects of Reinhard's behavior soon after the tragedy. How will it change going forward and like Yang wondered at the end of the episode, will Reinhard be another Rudolf von Goldenbaum.
Also, yes you're right on about your description of Oberstein. A detail that you might have missed is that when Ansbach made the first shot, Oberstein immediately got in front of Reinhard in an effort to protect him. And, had Kircheis been allowed to keep his weapon on contrary to Oberstein's advice to Reinhard, the death might have been prevented. And about Lichtenlade, while he had intentions of going against Reinhard now that Braunschwig was out of the way, he was not the one behind Ansbach's assassination attempt. Oberstein merely used the assassination as an opportunity to accuse Lichtenlade and move him out of the picture cus eventually he'll become an enemy.
Looking forward to the rest of the show!

The first season is widely considered the worst, which really says more about the quality of the rest of the series than anything else.

Welcome to LoGH man! First season was bit flawed because of dumb noblemen, but show will incrase in quailty now, and you'll see why it's regarded as masterpiece. And battles will become much more interesting!
