I’d say finesse wins more tournaments bc of the pressure on the lakes. Power fishing often will tell you where they are. My $.02 b4 watching

Brian, I decided to get back into fishing after thirty years. I used to fish with my dad when I was a kid. I've been watching your videos to get back up to speed. Your videos are very informative and you're a great host.

My man! Nice one there at the end!!!
That said, I'm a Looooong time Floridian and I can attest to you that those of us seasoned vets of these waters do in fact use Worms regularly, likey more than ANY other type of bait.
For me it all started with the Creme Brulle of worms… Culprit! I've caught vastly more bass on Culprit worms than any other bait ever in my 40+ years bass fishing. That said, I've developed a tendency to use stick worms more due to the simple fact I can cast them about 35% farther being as they don't have flappy tails acting like a parachute slowing them down.
I use pretty much every type of bait you can imagine, but Worms are the absolute, most proven commodity and tends to produce more BIG'Ns than anything else.
I'm looking forward to meeting you in the 14th & 15th of January!

Speed Worm, or that style, is one of my go-tos. I throw a stick a lot too. Yesterday, a Trick worm style was the thing. Weightless. I'm a bank angler, so I have to be versatile with my combos, and adapt them to where I happen to be fishing. You probably know we have some huge fish in very small ponds. Many of them see a lot of baits, so I like to show them something different. Good luck out there!

I love Culprit worms. When I'm in tight spots and don't need a lot of casting distance, I prefer Culprit over just about everything else - quite similar to you. I also like robo worms and creme. Old school, I know.

When you introduced these two topics, I immediately thought of "crankbaits" vs "soft plastics". For what it's worth, those are the two lure types that came to mind.

BRO I have a spot here in Florida that I'll catch a couple fish on 6-8 different setups. To me, that's the best. Catching fish throwing everything 🤣👌

Greico!! That guy can set a hook like very few others. You two work well together. I assume you're on the Hillsborough? Glad to hear you're enjoying your time down here; our bass can be weird when a cold front blows through, but it's great being able to throw a frog and power fish 12 months a year. That being said, I am That Guy you may think doesn't exist down here: I almost always have a 6-lb spinning rod with me. It's a great set-up for a lot of the ponds that I fish. Florida bass fishing is way more than the huge grass-filled lakes in the middle of the state. Hope you and Christian team up again soon; I really enjoyed this. Thanks and very Merry Christmas to you and your family.

I dunno, it completely depends on the body of water and the day. Power fishing has caught me much bigger bass overall, but with the relentless amount of pressure on these lakes every single day, you gotta be sble to think outside the box and use lures that no one else is using or haven’t thought to use etc. This past year I actually took my power fishing rods and every single one of them i downsized the line I was using. I mostly threw 17 and 20lb line. I went down to 12 and 14 lb, and put 17lb on only my fluoro flipping rod. It made a world of difference. Completely changes the action of these lures and most definitely draws more strikes. I had to start setting drag lower and actually fighting a big fish to wear it down. Its good stuff.

I mean it’s not about the gear it’s about the style. Obviously certain gear works better for certain styles. But it’s mainly the approach, not the bait. I can fish a jog fast, or a zoom fluke fast, and that’ll be power fishing. I can put that same fluke on a drop shot and it’ll be finesse. Now I can’t finesse a spinnnerbait, or a crankbait, so those are power fishing baits almost always.
Kevin Van Dam is power fishing
    Aaron Martens is finesse

You sold me on the Senko for pitching. Up to that point I only pitched and flipped jig/craws or just craws. I caught in September pitching a Senko. I'll still switch them up and even a lizard sometimes.

I think it comes down to the fisherman's preference.. outside of nature doing what it naturally does..and I personally caught my biggest fish so far power fishing.. but I havent finessed fish since I was 13 to be honest & I just got back into fishing since those lockdowns..

Not really into the American way of fishing... You use a heavy action rod with 50lbs line (in Europe we use it to catch 100pound catfish with that) to catch a 2-10 pound fish... You reel it in like a maniac like whoa it could ever brake your line or something...
