I'm building a 1974 Westfalia for a trip after college. I'm gonna go from Idaho to the Oregon coast, then down the coast to SoCal. Your videos keep me motivated and I can't wait to get going! Thanks for all you do, maybe one day we will meet on the road!
Being a new viewer, I'm so glad to see my dream being lived out by Ben. Bless him, I'm a firm believer, don't start a full on career until you turn 40 years old. With pollution and climate change you can accumulate toxins that can load the years on your health. You could become much less able to meet the demands of road life in your older years. I worked hard for 32 years and my dream still is VW camper traveling, except now on a much lighter scale than Ben's epic journey. I may never get my opportunity to travel at any capacity due to illness, so this adventure Ben is documenting is as close as anyone can get to the real thing.

In several of your videos I notice your PVC water tank on the roof. I am considering the same sort of water holding system for my van and am wondering of all the options available, what made you settle on this design for your water, and how is it working out for you? does the sun heat the water to a pleasant temperature for showering an how is the water pressure? I just recently found your channel and have been watching your journey from beginning to end :)
hey thanks for watching the show. We scrapped the PVC design as it tended to break often with contact with trees. It worked for a while - we tried several designs and were constrained by all the parts needed not being available. Pressure isn't great unless you have a top top and can angle the pipe. If you go for a PVC pipe, make sure that the exit valve is on the bottom of the pipe, not in the center so that you can get all of the water out. Now we use a road shower (www.roadshower.com) which is better, stronger and can be presurized to it make a "real shower" much more expensive though so depends on your budget. we will make a video and blog post about this subject later this year. Hope that helps.

yes we agree. Half of the people in this video were Mexican, half USA. The hosts are from UK, Australia and Peru. We can only show what the local scene is like in each of the places that we go to. We pick up a bunch of different people from all different nationalities, colors / religions in this series. Go watch it, sounds like it is just your sort of thing.
if that guy thinks the electric motor is easier to fix when i breaksdown than the original he is out of his mind. if that broke down in the middle of costa rica you would be toast.
Its all about the money at the USA, that hipster image, old vw buses, is not something available at the poor Latin american countries, What I can confirm for sure is that you can enjoy life with or without money, but of course would be easier to achieve that kind of happiness that you see in this particular video if you have US dollars, Regards from México
