Despite growing up near Houston I’ve always been a Red Sox fan. Roger Clemens and 20ks in’86 when I was a kid was one of them. Also loved Oil Can Boyd and Pedro. Sale also one of the greats imo. Glad to see him dominate again! Thanks for the release breakdown.

Chris Sale returning to top form is as simple as being on the roster of a contending team. It does wonders for one’s health. Perhaps the trade was good for both sides as the Sox are having an impressive season as well.

@@PitchingNinjaVideos well, if he used to throw more side arm, then changed and had to have Tommy John, it would make sense the change was intentional. I remember when Smoltz was having elbow issues (a bit older and a lot more miles on the arm than most of these kids having Tommy John) had switched to a more side arm release because he said it took some tension off the elbow and allowed him to keep going a little bit longer until it was obvious he needed to have the surgery.

Anyone that doubted Chris Sale knows damn well the doubt didnt come from rational thinking. Sale had some fluke injuries that weren't a sign of his body breaking down. Ronald Acunas had 2 very bad injuries & no one would just write him off. I know Boston Fans had to suffer through Sales Injuries but why Boston decided to give up on him when he was getting back to form makes no sense. Also Sale has Closer Stuff & can move to the bullpen if he wants to like Smoltz did. I'm glad we got him.

That arm slot overlay, what year in Boston was it from? I'm curious whether it went up from the start while in Boston or if he was possibly compensating for an injured elbow that had yet to be fully realized. It was a long process from first decline in stuff to when he went under the knife.
I was very skeptical of the Sale trade for Atlanta. If he stays healthy, that may go down as AA's best trade ever.
Sales injuries were not a constant thing & weren't from his body breaking down. Ronald Acuna's had a worse Injury record than Sale & no one would turn down Acuna.

Curious what you think a pitcher like Rodon could do to get through the first inning without getting hammered?
Good question. Some of it is varying pitches early. Rodon said he is relying a bit too much on his fastball to set the tone early in games instead of mixing up his pitching arsenal from the onset. And that seems right. He does seem to throw more crisp offspeed pitches later in games.
@@PitchingNinjaVideosThanks for the reply. It'll be interesting to see how he varies it up going forward. He currently reminds me a lot of 2022 Gerrit Cole where he'd have a good outing aside from that one inning where all hell breaks loose.
