The thing is EVERYONE needs to be caring about this because at any point YOU could become disabled. You could be in a car accident or become ill and be disabled for life, meaning one day you could be one of us and wish you had stood up for us. We are just like uou. People with lives who shouldnt have to decide between eating or having meds.
As a person with disabilities. I appreciate you talking about how woefully inadequate the CDB is.

I don't think I realized how abjectly cruel Canadian culture truly was until the pandemic. As a long-time Liberal Party supporter, I am disgusted by their lack of support and the pitiful #CanadianDisabilityBenefit. I am also [consistently] disgusted with the government of #Ontario. We all own this shame, we are abandoning our disabled friends, family, neighbours to starvation, despair, hopelessness.
I feel the same. I don't recognize my country any more. Its like they don't give a damn. They had no problem rolling out the CERB in 4 months to just about the whole country in 2020. $2000 a month to all the working Canadians in the entire country!!! Now they don't want to help the 1.6 million disabled even though Bill C-22 received Royal Assent last year.

YES! Thank you for saying the real facts. Most people reported on this saying $200 for all Disabled Canadians but it's not true it's only those who qualify for the disability tax benefit which is not most disabled Canadians and they only allocated enough for 600,000 people in general. Meaning even if all disabled Canadians did qualify for the tax credit only 600,000 of the over 1.2million would even get it!! This government has us disabled people begging for pennies and no one is fighting for us. Thank you for telling people what is happening to us.

My sister was on disability, she starved to death because by the time she paid her rent, there was nothing left for the bus to travel to medical appointments or food. Most of here meds werent covered and those ones she needed the most. Needless to say I'm enraged, she died at 44. Her birthday is in two months.

To maintain an income well below the poverty for those with disabilities is disgusting. I don't blame the Liberals, because EVERY party is to blame. None of the parties have stepped up to speak on behalf of Canadian Veterans or disabled.

I think you’re just starting to realize how little people with disabilities are valued in our society. At best we are an afterthought or a fun thing to rally around for a month and create pins and ribbons for, but at worst we’re expensive nuisances that remind people how vulnerable and fallible the body is. People with disabilities are rarely ever seen as people, which is why it’s easy to underfund their needs and keep in poverty.
With the price of everything going up $200.00 more a month is not going to help people with disabilities at all. They are living in poverty now.

I was cut off my pension in Jan bc I can’t keep jumping through their hoops , so I’ve been living on 703.$ a month being my sons caregiver yet , and on my deathbed ,, they say there is help out there , but I haven’t seen any from anywhere in 16+ yrs
But yet I’ve seen videos of ppl whining to b put on disability, bc they are just lazy

I'm favoured, Getting my own Truck has always been my Dream for my business. I just acquired 2 recently, earning $72K weekly has been really helpful. I can now give back to the locals in my community and also support Charity Organizations.

As a canadian with a disability I know this won't help. My member of Parliament where I live sent letters of concern that I had regarding the caregiver disability tax credit twice to Chrystia Freeland and she couldn't even have the common courtesy to send a reply. That is our government in a nutshell.

I have noticed a pattern when dealing with both the provincial and federal governments over the years. They seem to think that because I am disabled I must be stupid.
I've been living off of 1152 a month. And there are probably people living off of less. So far we've been let down, slapped in the face, and insulted and it's been like this for years.
I am on disability it q horrible situation to ve in and no it's not my fault I was hit by a car that left me with forever Injures I have 2 college degree which I can not do that career anymore due to my I juries I sustained. I know there a stigma that we are lazy and just go on disability trust me it's no life to live. You can not have any fun can not buy propper food because you are struggle just to pay rent morage and utilities and gas. People ask why not go get a job there lots of jobs out there. Well I'll tell you some of us are unable to work due to our Injuries. I can not even afford physio or massage thst would help me. And no being on disability does not cover those
Disabilities are never anyone's fault. Some are born with conditions, some are injured at work, some have PTSD from military service overseas, there are so many reasons a person is disabled.
I meant that I don't do drugs snd don't drink and I didn't cause my accident. The accident was deemed bot my fault

I think you're confusing immigrants with refugees. Immigrants don't get anything and it costs thousands to come here. Refugees on the other hand, come here with nothing and given something to get them started but its not a monthly amount for the rest of their lives.

God bless you Sid for speaking up on the inadequate funding of the CDB. Everyone deserves to live with dignity, inclusion and respect. I think more people should stand up for this because disability can happen to anyone! Fully fund the CDB!

I was so incredibly heartbroken when the budget was announced. I’m currently on disability in Ontario and living off 1k a month. I can barely afford groceries I can’t work and I need to spend more on things to make it easier for me to live on my own. I also won’t qualify for the federal benefit as only 600k people will be able to get it. This doesn’t help any of us. It’s more convenient for us to just die

I am so discussed I work with a man who has no hands and he is such an asset to our team ! Always positive looks at challenges not a a defeat ! He is inspiring and a lovey man . We are sooo fortunate to have him on our team super supers smart !
But there are others who physically and mental challenges surpass full time employment opportunities but a strong desire to be part of society and contribute!

No. You are eligible ONLY if you get the disability tax credit. More than likely it will be clawed back from monthly benefits like child tax benefit was. Only took what 7 decades to undo that fiasco.

Yea, you should see the hoops people with disabilities who are unable to work have to jump through to get the federal tax deduction for having a disability. Nearly impossible, you have to be for most intents and purposes equivalent in ability to a 4yr old and have FIVE doctors sign off on that to get a FREEKING TAX BREAK.

I didn’t even want to vote for Trudeau 8 years ago. First I didn’t agree with the carbon tax, second I didn’t agree how he was going to keep borrowing money since the interest rates were low at the time and third he didn’t even mentioned how the money was going to be paid back. I knew it was going to be a disaster but not to this level but many people fell for him. I keep telling people, this is not a free for all. You want services your paying up the wazzou through taxes or in another way. Point being there’s no free ride in either direction.
I’m on a disability pension and I get between 1000-5000 monthly because I can’t work because I have autism mind u I did this when I was 18 I’m now 31

A more equitable distribution of wealth is required so that this great liberal democracy can help all people in Canada live and die with some dignity and respect.

Prime Minister Trudeau is winning. The government has allocated $6.1 billion over six years and $1.4 billion ongoing, including the costs to deliver the benefit. This funding would provide for a maximum benefit amount of $2,400 per year.
Well it is $200/moth from the Feds with the expectation that the province match so it is $400/month with no cuts to existing benefits to the disabled.
On the Disability Tax Credit. So if you don't qualify for it, too bad.
