    Man, that Logan is a beast!

      He's decent. But he's pretty average compared to most serious fighters.

      He definitely knows how to use his size advantage, that extra height and weight makes tossing folks around a lot easier.

    • @vordermark89

      @@zachrabun7161 he doesn't do so well around people his size or the more experienced fighters. Plus he had a problem where at demos like this when the rest of us are going 40 to 60 percent he was going 100 Because he didn't know how to chill out and put on a show. 100% is for tournament. Demos are for practice and showing off

      @@vordermark89 fair point, it is certainly fun to watch regardless. Will definitely be digging more into the channel. I've heard of HEMA, but this is on a whole other level! I had no idea people were doing stuff like this, especially in America.
      I imagine the cost of the gear can be a bit of a barrier to entry. How much would you say it costs for someone to get kitted out, roughly?

      @@zachrabun7161 it's still crazy to me that people don't know about the sport 😂 it's been in. The US for the better part of 10 to 12 years. There's easily a team in every state, if not more.
      Unfortunately it's even harder to get gear right now with the war in Ukraine and whatnot. Most of the mass production armorer's are from that area. But an average suit these days is gonna be 7 grand at the cheapest all the way up to 12k

    Are those plate tails on the back of the helmet, a historical piece of armour or something that was introduced recently?

    • @vordermark89
      @vordermark89 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes and no. Those were made quickly to imitate lobster tail neck protection. There are a few historical sources, but the way I made these ones probably isn't historically accurate. We just needed fast quick neck protection

    What is the scoring criteria for this? I am seeing a lot of slashes with swords that do nothing to plate and is essentially just a waste of time compared to stabbing at the gaps and grappling. Even if we consider the effect on the fighters themselves like in MMA, nothing is happening essentially so cutting is a total waste of time.
    The axe fights were fine though.

    • @vordermark89
      @vordermark89 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thrusting is illegal in the sport. It's already dangerous. Plus the weapons are blunted.

      @@vordermark89 I see, we thrust all the time in HEMA so I was surprised. Nice axe work though but I see the one guy was going too far as I am told it was a demo. A shame.
      And yeah, I know you guys won’t be cutting with sharp edges. I was just pointing out that cuts even if they are edged won’t cut plate so I was wondering if those scored.

    • @vordermark89
      @vordermark89 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Subutai_Khan so the premise of our sport rules are based off of 14th century tournament rules. They did not thrust either unless the head of the tournament set that as a rule. Their tournaments were meant as a morale building exersize and practice for war. A lot of times they used clubs or whale jawbones instead of actual weapons.

      These were supposed to be fun demos that we were under contract to fill. So we don't go hard because if people get hurt we have to work twice as hard to put on a good show. Plus there were girls and complete noobs. Absolutely no reason to go that hard
