What a great surprise, Dave! A complete train with oldies, but goodies for your collection! You have such great fans, and you deserve it! You bring a lot repair knowledge and humour to your videos. I enjoy every video you release.

A very nice contribution to your train collection, with plenty of goodies, for sure. It is certainly good to have friends like that. It will be neat to see that locomotive running, pulling all of those 'new' cars. An excellent video, as always.

That was a nice mystery box, Dave. It must be great to have friends who are so thoughtful to make sacrifices with their collection. The 600 volt rated 12 gauge electrical building wire is over overkill. It will be a pain to use for wiring a layout, even if it's stranded. It's hard to work with and incompatible with making terminations to smaller gauge wire unless you plan to use wirenuts for every tap or splice you make. You'll have much better results with terminations using 16 gauge bus wires and 18-gauge feeders. The blue T tap wire connectors (suitcases) are made to only work in a range of 14-18 gauge size. 16-gauge primary wire is sold at Lowe's or Home Depot. It's inexpensive, comes in different colors on 30' rolls, and is pre tinned. It's better suited to low voltage wiring. There is such a thing as improper wiring even for model railroading. You'll soon realize this when it comes to making taps and terminations. I used 16-gauge bus wires and 18-gauge speaker wire feeders T tapped to the bus with suitcases. It makes wiring quick, easy, and reliable. I tested each track section connection with a railsounds tender to ensure proper terminations before complete continuous assembly of track.

I feel like there are millions of mpc republic steel gondolas out there. As far as rolling stock I swear it has to be one of the most produced ever. Still a cool car. And most I see are blue so it’s cool to see a green one.

Now who of us doesn't enjoy watching someone opening up unexpected goodie boxes?
Fun video Dave, short but VERY sweet! And I can understand your' dying with the heat, I've done the same this year. It's been an inferno and my Chugger Barn was uninhabitable for most of the summer even with four fans and a swamp cooler. Thank goodness the weather's breaking and I can look forward to a fun fall!
    Thanks for posting!

Really awesome mystery boxes you got! I really like the Lionel 8040 that Michael sent you as well as some other cars like the great northern hopper which I have one of those in my collection I think?

Those Lionel MPC 8040 are great runners,Dave. I have one with a PRR rattle tender that I added lights to, as well as a brown NPR gondola and red NPR caboose. My 8040 looks great pulling a Lionel consist or a Marx one.
