NISSAN GU PATROL - Frontrunner Slimline II Install

- A quick breakdown on the Frontrunner roof rack. This ends up taking longer than expected due to Nissan changing the gutter in the GU models. Later models have a straight gutter line, Nick's is a 2002 which required 4x 120mm legs [included] and 4x 130mm legs to compensate.

Can't believe you sorted the rack issue. I had to take mine back to an "approved" installer who told me it was "fine"... I've made my own shims but it totally put me off the company altogether

With the Patrol how did you wire up the audio controller on the steering wheel I see you have the factory controller like me...
These companies who make this stuff shound know the GQ is different to the GU, no excuse at all. Jimmy!
What size legs did you end up using where? Just about to install my platform and have 3x pairs of 120mm and 1x pair of 130mm. Cheers Jason
If the gutter line drops towards the front you'll need the longer ones there. If all 8 legs aren't touching the gutter then spaces may be needed.
My favourite part was when you threw the installation notes away but then were reading them in the next cut

Now that you have had the rack for awhile now how do you rate it now.
Looking at one for myself frontrunner or the rhino rack platform can't decide which one.
We've had one one the jeep for years, the patrol was next in line. LOVE the racks, and the accessory range is ridiculous.
It's never been an issue because in SA there are so few patrols they've probably never taken the time to design specific components. It's hard to find any gear off the shelf for a Patrol, period. Hugely frustrating.
What are you on about mate. Hard to get parts for a gq/gu patrol where have you been sleeping.
How much height did the rack add to the car do you know?
From the highest point of the patrol roof it added 95mm to the highest part of the rack.

Did you know most 4x4 can only put 100kgs on top of ypur 4x4 .. yes they can carry more .. broken windows and bent bodys say no but insurance wont pay for damage lol
I just don’t trust taking this modular aluminium roof rack off roading I don’t think they will last
Going on 6 years now using the Front Runner rack on our Jeep, treated it with utter disrespect at times, all over Australia. We trust them. 🤘
