Lmao. Bruh as a man stop trying to play victim 😂😂. She Checked her son and talked to the mother and justified the mother’s feelings she Got her son whom needed it together .
Loretta Devine is one of my favorite actresses. She nailed this monologue! No one could have done that scene like her. Great writing teamed with a true performer makes for high-quality cinema. Loretta should have won an Emmy a long time ago. This was a sample of her many unrecognized award-winning performances. When will writers, directors, and performers of color be recognized for the incomparable work they do?
It’s so true a mother’s job is 24/7, even when YOU SLEEP. Even when the children grow up, her job still isn’t over. “A mother’s job is never over until she’s laying in the ground and living with god.” Even then she’ll always being watching over her babies. They deserve the utmost respect and appreciation.
Loretta Devine should have so many Emmys! Between Grey's Anatomy, Being Mary Jane and this; my goodness! The writing is superb and I hope it helped some parents learn to co-parent and to stop intentionally hurting each other.
I'm living this right now. My son is struggling with addiction. And while he's out there doing what he's doing, my granddaughter's mom works full time. During the summer I care for my granddaughter free of charge. That way it makes easier her mom to get ahead in life. I don't make excuses for my son and the choices he makes. But I will help with whatever I can. We have a great relationship! And on the other end, I am my son's support as he fights to stay clean!
@@sbrooks729Right, and Mama sent a "warning shot" when she tried to talk greasy after she kept him from retaliating, "You keep on running your mouth, and I just might let him."

I'm glad that the writer of this story allowed this to happen... Often times the rebuke is one sided... I'm glad Loretta did this for both parties because both men and women need to see this perspective... And I'm also glad that she corrected her son when often times in society it is often portrayed that oh my son can't do no wrong... And that is absolutely false! Love all of this!
When I heard this on fb. I felt this. Because I just lost my job because my baby been sick and all the weight on me with no help. But God bless me with another and an increase in pay. I'm gone send this to my old boss and I hope she feel this.
I wish I heard this years ago when I was in Kentucky pregnant with my fiancee's unborn son without him because he chose to stay with his parents in Huntington west Virginia instead
Not to take away from the power in this scene, but I always laugh just a little when she says, "Me and Bill, we'll take him" and the camera cuts to Bill and the expression on his face is like, "who is 'we'?" LOL

AGREED, because listen you have to effectively co-parent but men do not understand the freedom that they have. I understand choices but you as a man and a woman you made THIS choice together. Men go off get another woman have freedom to start over, while the mother has to raise this child by herself. Now paying child support and showing up every 6 months is not repeat NOT raising your child. You leave a woman behind, pop up with a new one and she's giving suggestions??? I mean what do you think you deserve??? Understanding? Kindness? Oh ok you want respect, well the last time I checked respect is earned not given. Not just because your a man and definitely not just because your the father. Having a child is about sacrifice. One person should not be doing all the sacrificing. So yes if you out pursuing your "dreams", falling in love and finding a new life and popping in when u feel like it. Yes!!! Your going to get the worse attitude i got and that should be understandable
Say it again!!!! Because this scene right here, oh boy 😒😒😒 how you barely giving any money, you live on the other side of the country AND we only see u every 6.months. She should of knocked his ass out for being a absent ass father and then demanding some respect.
It's not just mothers though my mom left my dad with 4 children and he treated us so well and then when I was 14 she waltzed her ass into our lives after disappearing and asked my father to do paternity tests and he found out non of us were his but he still treated us no different but my "mother" had the nerve to try to break up our family to get us to know our biological fathers .....this should be called a parents job is never done not the donor
