They had a similar sound. Both leads had a distinctive nasally NY voice. (not a negative) Earlier on their songs didn't sound similar. 64-65 Reperata and Delrons sounded more like the Angels. But as the songs got more sophisticated their sound was similar to the Shangri-las. Sadly, girl groups were not successful by 68. Motown was a whole different ballgame. Supremes were given the best material and could not fail. But even (IMO) better groups like the Marvelettes and Martha & the Vandellas were becoming overlooked.

They still sound too much like the Shangrilas. Girl groups, other than the Supremes, were passe by 1968, although this was a nice effort.
