I read Fr. Ference’s article on the vocation of Flannery O’Connor. What a beautiful picture of taking one’s gifts and quietly, but persistently using them for the glory of God. I’ve read “Comforts of Home” and am slowly working through “Wise Blood.” Thank you for making this series and for mentioning her.
Padre Barron, I just want to thank you for all the work you do. I have learned a great deal about God and the Catholic faith by watching your videos. You are my go to source whenever I need a theological question answered. Gracias Padre, y que Dios lo bendiga.
you know, this is going to sound random, but thank you, Bishop Barron, for wearing your clerics out in public. Priests at my parish do not do so, especially in light of recent events. Thank you for doing so. I never understood why a priest would not wear their clerics in public, or a friar not wear his habit. Would a married man or woman not wear their wedding ring in public? It is a sign of their vocation (and a possible evangelization opportunity!)
Enjoying these video clips on the filming of "Pivotal Players"... Excited to learn more about each of them. Keep up the great work! Peace & Blessings...
fragwagon I'll see you in hell. You know you let kids get hurt? Its ur fault and ever catholic who turned the back and let these "men of god" have there way with little boys and girls . Thank god the catholic church is dying in the usa. Bye bye.
Our solidarity as Catholics is maybe more important than ever in recent history. We know this is the true Church of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let us all continue to pray for His Excellency, Bishop Barron, and our Catholic Church and each other. God bless you all! 😊
I find her work very challenging because I miss some of the references and have a bit of trouble with some of the language she uses. Still, it is easy to see the great talent and the power of observation.
My experience was not unlike that of Conor O'Brien. He read these dark yegt very comic storiess and assumed the author to be a bitter alcoholic, if memory serves. I just assumed the writer was an atheist. But the sheer power of the writing seized me and never let go. She had been dead a mere year or so. I was quite young, perhaps twelve, and was being tutored in literature by a writer herself, winner of a Guggenheim and a one-time resident at Yaddo, as O'Connor had been. Since that time so many decades ago, I have read everything I came across, the letters and occasional prose. She lived to write; wanting to move up north, her lupus confined her to a home on a dairy farm with her mother, there finding her true voice in the sharply curtailed life of a lupus patient.the She belongs on a very short list of truly great Twentieth Century authors, setting about creating characters set to meet their moment of supernatural grace, generally most unwillingly. She was a true genius.
This is not good enough. Why are priests afraid to speak about the devil? He is constantly trying to tear Christians from God and there are next to no warnings from our pastoral leaders. We need to talk openly about these things, the devil constantly trying to corrupt the church, abortion, the rise of Islamic terrorism and the embrace of Muslims from the left wing politics and media. All of this needs to be brought to light over and over again.
Bishop Robert Barron So your response is to blame the devil? Not Once did you even apologize for the crimes committed by the Catholic Church. It's unbelievable how out of touch you guys are.😢
Steve McQueen silly? Are you really going down that road? You can continue to deflect But honestly the only thing we want to hear from Catholic is I'm sorry. Over and over and over. Stop Supporting a child abuse cult. Stop deflecting, Stop attacking those that question your religion, stop and take a long look at ur self . You and all Catholics have blood on your hand.
