'the most natural talent in every discipline' .... that was this man ..... had he concentrated solely on bowling he could have become an ATG fast bowler . .... if that was in batting , he could have become at the least a 'border line ATG' batsman.
He already was a brilliant all round fielder & safe catcher .... was a superb captain too.
Kapil's calibre was such he could get into any team for just his bowling or just his batting.

I remember this inning. Imran Khan once said "Kaps never realized what a great batsman he was". But this was a masterpiece. Cannot imagine how much would have been his price in modern day IPL.
Yeah may be if he had concentrated more to play defensively rather than taking risk in every ball, his batting avg would have been way higher than his actual bat avg.

Viv batted at 3 facing new ball most of the times, not at 7 or 8.
Average is more important in test cricket than Strike rate. Sehwag had a better Test strike rate than Sachin, doesn't mean he was better.

Not many people know that Kapil was the
1st man to take not only 200 but also 250 wickets in ODIs. From 1988 to 1994, he was the world's leading wicket taker in ODIs, ahead of Botham, Imran, Hadlee, Marshall etc.
Kapil is the only captain to take 9 wickets in an innings.
Only man to claim 400 wickets and score 5000 runs, also only man to claim 400 wickets and 4000 runs in Tests.
(Though Sobers is said to be the greatest all rounder, he managed only 235 wickets in 93 tests at a horrible strike rate of 87 and a poor avg of 34, Sobers also has no 10 wicket hauls and only 6 five wicket hauls.
If you think Kallis was the best, then he has only 292 wickets in a whopping 166 tests at a not so good strike rate of 69 and a poor avg of 32, also again he has no 10 wicket hauls and only 5 five wicket hauls)

Yuvi was an all-rounder for t20 matches.
Agarkar, Pathan were full time bowlers who bowled 10 overs in odi and they used to bat also.
Robin Singh also used to bowl full time and do batting .
At present, Ravindra Jadeja is close to be a all-rounder but he is not very consistent with bowling.
People always talks about MS, Sachin, Dada, and virat... but the real hero is KAPIL... becs of him indian cricket has become famous.
