Also, that breakdown at 2:48 is one of the heaviest things I've ever had the pleasure of hearing.

It's funny but neat how these guys and another one of my favorite bands Textures, pretty much played exact patterns from Bleed as homage. That song alone really did have a huge lasting impact in metal, though.

Zev finally looks comfortable after 2 parts. What a sick performance by Spiritbox as a whole, but major props to him after having to sight read these songs along with keeping time to a complex track/click.
I had no idea that Spiritbox had no permanent drummer until now. I was already impressed how Zev made some of the complex parts look easy, but if he's sight reading then I'm honestly blown away. Great performance!
You could have easily fooled me if you'd told me this guy was their permanent drummer. He was flawless during this set. Surprised there aren't more comments about that tbh
He's such an incredible drummer. And his mixing is so good! I love how he pans the toms to make fills sound so full. God...I just love this band.

I believe the story is that he recorded it and then somehow lost his video before the whole thing was stitched together and had to recreate it.
Jesus.. these videos perfectly showcase how flawless Courtney's vocal technique is. No visible tension when doing the screaming and seamless transition between singing/screaming. Between that, mike's guitar collection, and the a+ production this is prob my favorite live set of 2020!
I also enjoy Bill’s bass playing and Zev is great on the drums (I read that his original recording was lost so he had to re-do it all again, which is why he’s looking so serious).
I'm late to the Spiritbox party, but as an old metal guy going on 54, this band has the goods to go a long way. Each showing their talents here in this 3-part Liquid Metal sampling. Courtney is not only an immense talent - her personality, charisma, and passion make her the ultimate female lead singer/screamer, IMO
Yes, Courtney is amazing, we all know how fucking incredible her vocals are......but god damm, I can't describe how much I love the strings of this band. As a guitarist myself Mike inspire me SO MUCH....technical and so creative!

Can’t remember the last time I’ve enjoyed a band so much. Every song is a banger. Every person in the band is on point. 2020 was a horrible year but I’m happy to see spiritbox get the recognition they deserve. No doubt they’re gonna be huge one day.

I have been listening to this band pretty much everyday. Her vocals all around are incredible, she can sing and scream at great lengths. The music speaks to me in some way I can’t describe.

This literally sounds like a studio track. How did they perform that flawlessly and who the hell produced a live track to sound this good?
When you do live in the studio you have access to all the same tools as the album, but you do it in one take, and less layers. They record direct into DAW to a click track and add the backing tracks from the album if necessary. They can tweak pitchy moments, fix out of time hits on the drums ect ect, mix it with all the all the same plugins and signal chains as the album is or whatever else they want, and master it as well.
Not saying this is what they are doing BTW, but post processing of live recordings has been done forever. That famous Kiss live album had most of the tracks replaced in post apparently because it was such a mess.
Also if this was direct to air, which I'm assuming it is, all that post processing isn't possible, but the band is obviously on point, so that makes it easier, they also all recorded in separate isolated and treated rooms, probably into great equipment. The guitarist and probably the bassist also are using Kempers which are top of the line digital modeling amps, so they can basically plug an XLR cable directly into the desk and give the engineer a sound that's already completely processed and literally needs no mixing, set the levels and done, same result night after night into any mixer or PA system. Also the studio is probably fully set up and ready to go.
Live on stage is very difficult to get sounding right, and is fraught with problems for which there are only band aid solutions and compromises. All those issues except the potential for the performers to mess up, (which rarely happens at this level) , are gone in a studio like this. There was a time when this was what bands did for an album in the days of 2 or 4 track tape. Live, but in isolated booths, straight to tape, and mastered straight to disk.
I like these recordings, because they have the live performances, polished but not so much gloss that you lose the human element as is common on most albums now. But without all the horrific sound issues you get on stage. I rarely like stage recordings unless they're fixed in post.
Dudes have more flashing lights and knobs going on than the OG Enterprise.

Ever since I stumbled upon Blessed be, I've thought the same thing. That song helped me get through a troubling time in my life and I agree with the other comments about how insanely well done this recording is...sound was awesome, vocals were awesome...more please. Oh, and come and play in North Carolina soon.
Mike Stringer is an elegance genius, but you have to send a ton of props to Bill Crook here too. The bass is such an integral aspect of the "heaviness" so well done as an entire mix.

32, nearly 33 years on this Earth, and I have NEVER had music speak to me in the way The Mara Effect does. If there were a perfect album in existence it would be The Mara Effect. The emotions evoked in the songs, I have rarely felt but somehow " I love you, I always will... Please release me I'm tired" hit me in a place I never knew existed in my soul.
I discovered Spiritbox two years ago, and I can't think of a day since that I haven't listened to them. It's something unexplainable, much like Lateralus by Tool. Just something that draws me in.
I hope they're around forever.

Just found your band. Been a metal fan for 30 years and I'll tell you now that you sound better than the singer in arch enemy. You clean voice is superb reminds me of the singer of lacuna coil.

Every element of Spiritbox is so fantastic on so many levels. It's like they make sure every note is put there with thought. They don't bury any party of the band in the mix, especially Bill's phenomenal bass sound (many bands don't even sound like they have a bass player).
