I've have owned the XHData D-808 for about two months. MW and SW/SSB performance has been great, I'm very happy with it. My experience with FM has been surprisingly poor compared to my other DSP radios. I bought this radio for SW/SSB and MW and it excels on those bands so I am happy with my purchase. I am surprised that even the Retekess V115 performs significantly better for me on FM than the XHData D-808. I have the 'new amber' edition and I purchased it directly from the XHData website in China, so I assume I have a legitimate radio.
I have the so-called new version of the XHData D808, and I have to say it is a remarkable receiver. All bands perform excellent, depending on your area and experimenting with different antenna options. I only wish it had a switchable AF filter.
Fun video. I see the latest version of this radio has a amber backlight which may be the deciding factor for me to add it to my collection. I also saw a video that showed that the DSP section is now covered with metal and shielded. Radio may be improved some. You may like to try one of the newer ones and compare it.
have you noticed a difference on the new version in SSB. I just received the new version of Xhadata and I have the impression of not being able to calibrate the SSB reception. I receive the transmitters but the words remain impossible to understand
Thank you for the great bandscan, Todd! I'm considering upgrading from my Tecsun PL-660 to the XHData D-808 or the Tecsun PL-680. I can't tell if there is much of a difference between the two Tecsun radios. I'm hoping that you can confirm that. I'm mainly wanting to upgrade because the frequencies are off a bit now on the PL-660. About 1 kHz on SW and even .1 mHz on FM. I know there is supposed to be a fix for that, but it isn't working for me. I wish more AM stations in my home state of Louisiana played music, but they're mostly religious or talk with some sports here and there. The DeKalb, Illinois and Eugene, Oregon areas seem to have good music stations, though.
The 680 is the same radio as the 660, just in a different enclosure. The D-808 may not be as fun to tune in SSB chats. The Tecuns make that happen fast. The 808 is lighter, and easier to carry.
Same situation here in the Tampa Bay Area, the AM broadcast stations are terrible, no music, no Jazz, just talk, news and Latina music (which is actually pretty good). We need more variety here in Tampa Fl on AM.
Hej Todderbert thanks for the bandscan i have the Sihuadon D-808 and love this radio it is a very good radio and I am also thinking of buying the newer model but then maybe in the gray color take care Todderbert.
I wonder if the 2023 verdion of the d808 is still a great performer for selectivity and sensitivity on AM as the earlier version is. I've read conflicting repoerts. Some think they cheaped out with the new version.

I tested mine with a grundig WR5408 and I can say the Xhdata is more sensitive than Grundig's

My fave SSB radio!📻 The new one has USB-C and orange backlight.
USB C is a big one for me personally. Will use same cable and charger as phone, laptop, and Kindle
Nice that it went with the Type C. The Amber back light is also an upgrade.
@@snowpuppy77 frustrating it doesn't have a chip in it though. It won't work with PD chargers.

It's just my opinion, but the FM SDR display of this portable radio is completely similar to the sanjean ATS-909.

Hmm, I would say buy it from Amazon where it is easy to return if you are not happy. I may try to source one for a comparison test.
