Very crucial video for future immigrants. Thank you so much! BTW should I plan for Toronto or Ottawa in terms of expense and job availability?

Jobs opportunities are more in Toronto, but yes Ottwa is a bit cheaper in terms of rent. Even though rent hikes are reaching their very soon.

Thank you for sharing this information. Planning to land soon as newcomers and this is very helpful to know. Besides these regular expenses what else should we plan and save for? Is it okay if we are left with only CA$1500 per month AFTER expenses? Or is that too less? Any tips on where to invest this savings and how much to save as emergency fund?

Glad it was helpful for you, we are working on more such informative videos on current Canada expenses, Income, Savings and Investments. So stay subscribed and share this video with your friends and family too. To answer your question, yes $1500 savings every month is a great amount after all your expenses from which 800 - 1000 CAD you can invest 100 - 200 CAD you can keep for miscellaneous expenses and 400 - 500 CAD you can save for Emergency fund every month. Slowly your emergency fund will grow to a safe number and then rest you can all invest and grow in Stocks, MF or Invest in Real-Estate.

Basic Health Insurance is provided by the government here in Canada but you can definitely purchase Critical Illness and Dental Insurance additionally. plus some employers also do provide coverage.
