When I first I re-watched the video today, I didn't notice that the first layer didn't move/slide down at all when you propped up the mold on the other side. I wish there was a tutorial on this soap. I've tried it like three times so far and I can do the layers, but I think I get the angle of the risers wrong and I may pour too much soap for the first layer, which messes everything up. I feel like the height may change between the first pour and the second, and the second and third are the same, the fourth is slightly lower and the fifth is level. I also think I must use different colors. I keep hoping to do a candy cane pattern and without the mica lines (because I fail at those) it just looks like a weird M. I wouldn't want your recipe, because I know those are near and dear to a soapers heart, but boy, I would surely pay you for a tutorial because honestly, I've spent so much money trying to make this method work! LOL. Either way. I will try again, and hopefully will succeed! Also, yes that song is perfect, its a fantastic ear worm!

SoapsblySly O I have had that happen once. I waited until the soap had set too long and I sprinkled the mica too thick. I think the trick is to sprinkle when the soap is very wet and if in doubt, give the mica a fine spritz of alcohol before pouring the next layer.

Didnt know you could do that with HP soap. So many questions. How long do you have to wait before applying the next layer? And how do you know your curing time?
I love this!! So beautiful, I am new to soap making but I’m wondering how long did you let it set in between each layer? It looked really set each time you turned it. I’d love to try but I don’t want to be inpatient if I have to wait for each layer to set and ruin it. I get so excited lol
I've tried the design, and while I have failed at the overall look (I need to be more careful of the height of my risers and using different colors I think), I was able to create the layers without breaking through to the layer below. I waited ten minutes between layers. So I'd stick blend the batter to light trace, pour it in, set a ten minute timer, wash the stuff I'd need to mix the next layer and after ten minutes mix the next layer to light trace, turn the mold and pour it. You can lightly kinda poke the soap batter and if your finger comes out with batter on it, its not set yet. When its set, the soap batter also gets kind of a more matte look.
Caitlin Thompson it absolutely depends on the fragrance and the soap recipe. You have to judge for yourself. Give the mold a jiggle, the soap shouldn't move before pouring another layer. I try to use a fragrance that accelerates just a bit so that I'm not sitting there for two hours waiting for soap to set. If I have to wait longer than 5-10 minutes between layers, that's too long for me. Hope that helps!

@@ashleybinford5657 well I figured it out!! The layer has to set before you can put the second layer, or third so on and so forth. So while the layers in between are drying make your next batch and carefully spoon it over.. that's what I've done and it's worked out well hope this helps.😊

My first two layers kind of have mud slide effects Hahahah but the bar will be called Purple Mountain Majesty with shades of purple and lavender. Adding three more layers today to finish it. I just made 1/4 a batch of soap at a time.

Kanchan Munjal hi there! There are many recipes for soap online soapqueen.com or soaping101 are great places to start. I don't give out recipes because I believe soapmaking is something that one should really invest time in learning properly before doing. Hope that helps :)
Its the gold mica she uses to make the mica lines. The soap maker indicated that she mixed the entire batch at once so I assume she used a slow moving recipe and maybe stick blended each layer or split and whisked each layer to get it a little thicker for each pour. As long as you get a soap batter to emulsion it will move through the stages of trace, EVENTUALLY. A slow moving recipe will take longer and a fast moving recipe with harder oils will take a shorter amount of time, but once a soap hits emulsion it will go through the stages of trace.
Its hard, LOL, I did the same thing. I think the mica lines have to be super, super thin. I'm waiting to get a glitter pump so I can make the mica lines super thin.

homeschool mom thanks! No, with this batch I mixed the oil and lye in one batch and separated off a portion for each color.

I made a slanted desing but after unmolding and cutting the pieces fell apart from each other total failure 😑
