I love your videos and the quality and beauty of furniture you're presenting. I wonder what material they used to stain their furniture because I suspect they would have used something different than what is readily available now. I ask because the coloring is always beautiful.

I suspect that individual makers would have honed and changed the recipes for polishing these pieces over many years but Stalker and Parker's treatise has several pages devoted to exactly this question. David
