    The half break is a standard vernacular jazz move that you see in all sorts of vintage solo routines. It is also a super flexible step that you can use as a transition or within a partnership. In this video, we'll go over the basic half, the syncopated, the shuffle step, and SO MANY VARIATIONS!

    Hey Laura, i have heard of a move called 'Break The Eight', is it an extension of the break? or something different?

    This looks like it could easily be tap dancing, is there a lot of overlap between Lindy Hop and tap?

      Great question - there is a TON of overlap between tap dancing and solo jazz dance. We have a lot of the same figures, but they are generally simplified. For example, Lindy Hoppers frequently don't put the shuffle in the half break.
