You can replace both plugs from the right of the bike by removing the plastic bit holding the wire harness, zip tie that out of the way and use two universal joints to reach down to the plugs. Don’t even need to remove the tank after the plastic bit is discarded (eg the second time you replace the plugs you only need to remove right fairing and have the right tool)
Well I'll be saving this video to my phone and hopefully never have to refer to it at the Turon River crossing. Well done boys. Dave's real talent, giving the Professor a real run for his money. Well filmed Lance. Clubby, bursting with commentary talent. A very useful video, but scares the crap out of me. :)
Ditto...my thoughts exactly. Surely any pre-requisite for a proper 'adventure' bike is that it can be easily maintained in the field. From what I've seen, this isn't the case with the T7. Shame.
I though on buying a T7, but since I live in a remote area and I must do my bike maintenance, after watching the video I've decided that I better keep my KLR. This is a job I never want to do.
A very thorough job indeed! Glad to see someone else do this before I have to attempt it. Now, if someone can come up with a half-hour workaround method for the plugs, it would also be greatly appreciated!
Adam Reiman and his mate completely flooded a t7 in a river, they didnt take out the spark plugs, they just lifted up the bike and drained out the air filter. Then rode away...t7's are awesome.
I usually look for oil and filters servicing, spark plugs, and somo other usual things, that plays a very important part of my decision when i change my bike, brands should look easy of manteinance too... I'm going to take a look to the new transalp, gs750 and 790...
Good video but not good design in my opinion. An adventure bike is likely to need trailside repairs including de-watering and ease of access to some parts like plugs is important.
I'm noticing all new adventures bikes are loosing the sense of true adventure. I think that in Europe or North America you can easily find a good workshop to do hard job if you have problems with your bike. But for example here in Peru, we only have good workshops in the capital. That means that If you have a problem you have to send the bike to a city which is 3 days away. I just miss the times when bikes were more simple.
Yes, I'm miss the simplicity of my xt 660 too....I've changed the right spark plug this morning, the left one will wait for another day, it's terrible to take out the coils....
Darned, I just bought a T7. I'm not looking forward to that job. I just sold an oil cooled BMW R1200GSA and complained about how complicated a clutch job would be. Plug changes were easy! Well, at least it is simple to change the plugs on my Ducatis and my Husky.
Wow a ton of work to remove sparkplugs, had I know I might not have bought the T7 coming from a boxer GS where sparplug removal takes about 2 min - but then again the T 7 is such a joy it might just be worth it ;-)
Don’t get discouraged to get a T7 by watching this , there are better and easier ways to do this , just search T7 spark plug mod . This is great video but not something you wanna do on the side of the road
Hi Valter. We got the plugs out and put new spark plugs in. Job done. I'm sure there's always a another way to do everything. If you have a better way we are happy to view your video on the subject. Happy riding.
All that to change plugs, that is insane. I wouldn't touch that job until the bike had 100,000 miles on it and it won't start any more. Thats twice as bad as KLR 650 plug change and twice as many.. Drop the radiator, no way. Do I even want to know what it takes to do a valve shim inspection? If only we could bring back the Yamaha 250 2 stroke, no valves, easy plug change, air filter change. My opinion on the T7 just took a big nose dive.
Appreciate the video, nonetheless this is absolutely ridiculous 🙄 Not a fan at all.. you guys at Yamaha should re-watch this. I honestly don't know if I'll get the Tenere .. I might wait for the Honda. Just saying 😌 🤷 !!

The #1 cylinder coil will NOT come out without moving the ABS pump out of the way

I’ve just decided I will sell mine before 20k so I never have to do this..... lol

I'm so so glad I found your video gents. Clear concise and well filmed. Based on what I have seen I will not be buying a Tenere.
That's it, I'll keep my 1986 tenere.
Thanks Dave for those kind words , it’s was clubby that inspired me to go for it :):) and Lance was my wingman on the side :):)

Came for a spark plug video change, instead seen half of bike dissembled.
Great video, very comprehensive. What's the make of tail rack on the bike? Very neat.
B&B Off ROad Engineering
“It’s just access” 50 screws later and parts going all different directions 😝 not a simple job.
I do thank you for the video. Should help later on.
🤔 dump the ABS mess
Thanks for the info! I like my CRF450L a lot more now.
Jesus Christ, would it be easier just to drop the motor? Bloody hell, all my bikes I can replace the plugs on the side of the road.
what do you ride buddy? this is total bullshit, I fancied a T7 but not after seeing this.
The brand and numbers on the sparkplugg? ( Iridium) thanks from Sweden
Adam Reiman and his mate completely flooded a t7 in a river, they didnt take out the spark plugs, they just lifted up the bike and drained out the air filter. Then rode away...t7's are awesome.
Great Job Me Aussie Cuzzins! Thanks From a Texan Tenere Owner!!!
Nice stickers and colours.

NGK Laser Iridium LMAR8BI-991909
@@offroadexplorer thanks mate will get some.
Love my T7. But.....this is ridiculous. What about shim check & adjustment? What will I replace my T7 with? Maybe I should have kept my XT660!

Difficult but not nearly as difficult as the AT!
Nice work gents, thanks for the instructions. Note to self; NEVER swamp this bike!
14:36 that's what she said.
Great work but that's bloody ridiculous to change plugs, great bike but I'll buy something that was designed when people still had some sense.
Vintage it is
Your loss
One problem you don’t get with a boxer engine, you can change the plugs in minutes.
you'll have plenty of time the bmw will be broken down often enough.
@@roadwarrior8560 really?
Gee imagine if you dropped it in a river and had to do that on the side of a track on a adventure ride . the Tenere 660 you would do it in 5 minutes
this video is not correct. You are putting too many pieces to change spark plugs.
Hi Valter. We got the plugs out and put new spark plugs in. Job done. I'm sure there's always a another way to do everything. If you have a better way we are happy to view your video on the subject. Happy riding.
You’ve created work for yourselves here. There is a MUCH easier method. No tank nor radiator removal required.
Once I complete this, I’m gonna get the tattoo of it across my chest

I like to have a few beers working on my bike.but I wont be on this job when the time comes.
How ofter should i change the plugs does anyone know thanks
Hmmm...no torque wrench?
Otherwise great video
oh my god that's so much effort ?
Respect
That’s ridiculous
I was going to buy one not now though🤪
I'm at 30000 miles still factory plugs 😢
I'll take a 1200GS Air Head any day thanks!!!!!!!
Half a pizza!!?? Really!? Or youre too fast, or dont know what, but a pizza doesnt last more than 30 minutes here hahha.
Can you imagine dropping your bike in the river? OMG.
What a fecking nightmare
No way.
Appreciate the video, nonetheless this is absolutely ridiculous 🙄

I honestly don't know if I'll get the Tenere .. I might wait for the Honda.
Just saying 😌 🤷 !!
Fook I hope I never have to dewater this thing track side.....
This isn’t good.
Just another ❌ against the T7
😲 dear lord lol..
GS 😂😂😂
jesus fucking christ
that's really stupid design...
Terribile🙄
No need to remove the radiator my friend.
What about the rear wheel to make the bike lighter to work on? 🤣🤣
