The step recovery diode was invented at HP back in the 1960s. HP used to sell ceramic packaged ones which had a frequency comb cutoff as high as 350GHz and average output of 0.3W. They were qualified for manned space applications.

Long time ago i played with low power FM transmitters and one time in my hand came unknown diode that generated strong 50 Hz modulated noise in my FM radio reciever. All i need is to touch one side of that diode with soldering iron.
Yep! The ressonators in an edge coupled filter needs to be lambda/2.. so start with this and adjust do get exactly frequency. To play and get a feeling you can use agilent genesis. But, the feeling I got playing around with tape was much greater.. try it yourself!

😯😯
Does the diode behave weirdly if you connect in the opposite direction? 🙂
Maybe 😄
😯
very nice application of the PIN diode, which software did you use to design the BPF?
This filter I made by hand using copper tape 🤣
@@AllElectronicsChannel just trial and error?

Qucs works reasonably well for simulating this
