I think the F-14 is one of the most beautiful pieces of machinery humans ever designed. Incredible work on the model, sir.

I'm blown away with the detail, it means a lot to me because my uncle Jack flew the F4 in Vietnam, in 1969 I was 9 and Jack was home for Xmas and I was in awe. Thank you for great content. 🙏🇺🇸

I did this kit some months ago. I did it with Eduards big ED Photo etch and aftermarket decals for "Jolly Rogers". This kit is still my favourite kit til this day.

I’ve only had good results with Academy kits. They don’t have a lot of the detail of Tamiya and Hasegawa but the engineering is first rate.

Very excellent. I hadn't thought of using clear orange. I'm thinking of using pastel chalk on mine for that discoloration. I'm currently building this myself and I haven't attached the wings yet. I put those pivot cards into place, and I figured I'd slide the wings onto those cards after I've painted them.

Dude, I've just found your avenue...about 2 weeks ago...smooth is all I can say...appreciate your time...
This is my third go around with this build... the details with which you go to in these adventures is second to none...also the background music...plus your jigs...
Being forced to stay low, by are environment as of late...has caused me to become homebound...
Your escapes in time are well worth it...
Keep them coming if you can...
    Thanks again dude...

I used to spend my lunch break sitting at the foot of Miramar Naval Air Station strip to watch these come back from the desert. They would loop around the tower and come back around to land. They would open out their wings and throw the plane on it's side to brake. You could just sit and listen to them throttling to land. Can't tell me they weren't having a blast!

    Hello!
I came across your videos yesterday by accident but today became a subscriber. Thank you for doing these videos. Seeing fighter planes and jets reminds me of when I was a kid and we’d visit my cousins in another city. My cousins had a den/rec room with a lot of planes and helicopters hanging from the ceiling. To me, as a 5 years old kid, it was like going to a model aviation exhibit.
I’ve dabbled a little in model aircraft when I was a teen, but it’s not really my thing. Cars in 1/24, 1/64 & 1/87 scales are my thing. However, I do enjoy watching others build planes, jets, helicopters, etc., so I am enjoying your videos.
Wishing you all the best with your shop. Hobby shops that I could actually visit are getting scarce here in the US. They either go out of business or go exclusively with online shopping.

To this day, the Tomcat remains the best looking heavy US fighter. Those curves, that wide bay between the engines (even though it wasn't exactly the best idea under certain conditions), the angles... I think only Russia's Flanker stands up to it in terms of looks.

I'm happening on different f-14 model videos as I just ordered a Tamiya F-14A Jolly Roger kit. I'm also thinking of making it in flight (I shall see how easy it is to seal its wheel flaps). What I like about its kit is that it has fully adjustable sweep wings. I'm into 3D printing and design....so I'm going to be doing my stand as a 3D print. Have in mind a Jolly Rogers base, a gimbal that lets you change the axis of the fuselage (that will screw in the underside of the fuselage inbetween the front and back Phoenix podsz).

Great job Andy! I was in the Pukin' Dogs in the mid-90s & had a blast (made deployments on the Ike & George Washington). You did a good job of capturing the personality of the Tomcat & the mottled grey look of being well-used but still reasonably clean. Even though 1:72 isn't my favorite scale, there's still just as much work as 1:48. Too bad you didn't use the photo reece TARPS pod (if the kit came with one?).

Hi, at 3:40, you mention about follow the instructions when you should not have? Then you cut off a piece of the pivot. You said in order to remove the wings once the fusalodge in assembled just off center of the center of the hole so the wing can be taken out,(off). My question is does the wing need to be removed for the build? Could you explain this a bit? I have this model and have opened the package. Have not started it yet. Hope to in the next few weeks. I am just wondering about the pivot wing. Does it need to be removed, if so why does it need to be removed. My model is DOYUSHA. It is all in a print I do not understand. Very high detail. Trying to learn how to build this model. Thank you so much, great build.

Carrier air wing 6 had the "AE" tailcode. I know this because I flew S-3A Vikings in VS-28, also in air wing 6. We deployed with the VF-143 "Pukin' Dogs" aboard USS Independence (CV-62) in 1983/4. Inside baseball: we had 2 fighter squadrons, with tail number series 1** and 2**. Attack squadrons, the AEW detachment, helo squadrons, all had tail numbers beginning with sequential even hundred numbers. My VS-28 had tail codes in the 7** series. More inside baseball: every squadron had a "double-nuts" plane with tail number ending in "00". These were decorated more elaborately, and were designated as the "CAG Bird". The carrier air group commander was theoretically supposed to be able to fly every type, so each squadron had a plane for him. Although I never ever saw our CAG in an S-3, he was a fighter jock through & through.
VF-143 lost an airplane during one of our workup exercises. I remember being in the SAR on-scene commander plane, orbiting overhead, until the helo arrived to fish the crew out of the water. One of them didn't make it.
The weathering job on this model looks great. If anything, it's a bit understated. Our aircraft got EXTREMELY oily and ratty looking. Nice one! Subscription added...
