It's pretty amazing what people can come up with. Seed companies are now selling seed tapes. The seeds are glued to paper and you simply roll out the paper, bury it, and you've planted your seeds. I've never tried it, but somebody came up with great idea.

Great video. I had some pelleted Turnip seed last year, But wasn't sure about why they are pelleted. Thanks for the info and God Bless!

Thanks for watching and commenting. Some seeds are tough to plant due to their size; the pelleted seeds make it a lot easier.

What is the coat made of? Does the coating provide any other benefit other than easier planting?
I can see how helpful that would be, planting lettuce seed is hit or miss- it all goes in one spot or it goes EVERYWHERE! 😂 thanks for the info!

The coatings are considered proprietary mixes, but most of them have clay as the main ingredient. Organic seed companies do offer organic coatings. The biggest benefit is the how much easier it makes hand or mechanical planting; irregular shaped seeds can jam mechanical planters. I've drop a packet of lettuce seed once; it went everywhere alright. A second benefit would be spotting the seed after you've placed it in the growing medium. Some dark seeded lettuce varieties are hard to see once you put them down. Thanks for watching.
