Thank you, I do also sprout seeds on paper towels in plastic bag!! I get good germination most seeds; I need to read more about the seeds that need to be cold for a few weeks first; makes sense for some seeds I've tried over the years that didn't come up...now I see why with your information today!! Happy growing, watching you from front range of Colorado today 3/1/424 2 feet of snow here and still going :} one of our spring dumps to give the trees and yards the much needed moisture! God bless and have a great rest of your week.

English Lavender when from a reputable supplier that has fresh seeds don’t need stratification nor light. They will germinate without either at a great rate. They do love the heat though so a germination heat mat is great. Yours will grow faster if you continue to use a heat mat through out their growth before you transplant. They like 80-85

I love your videos! I have learned so much about how to collect and sow seeds from you. My husband says I'm virtual gardening, but I tell him I'm learning!! My goal this year is to only go to the nursery to look! I have successfully collected impatients, wave petunias, coleus, and begonias from my plants from last year, and my germination rate has been so good that I have enough plants for my family and neighbors! I did purchase a few other seeds that I did not have but next year I will have seeds from my new plants to sow. You are definitely my go to person for seed collecting! I also use your suggestion of keeping a list on the Google Sheets which is perfect to organize and add notes for next year. I have even started mixing my own potting mix from your videos. Thank you for sharing all your information! It's much appreciated!!

I'm a first time gardener and I'm trying the winter sow method - although it is known not to grow well in my area. I THINK I see a little green poking through the soil. I just read from a regional FB group that my area will have a better chance with Spanish Lavender (I have English)- but still would be a long shot. If I'm not successful this year, I may try the Spanish Lavender next year.

Hi there, thankyou for making an informative video..I love to listen to people that have experimented with growing seeds..
I live in England & most of the seeds we buy don't need to be put in fridge (the stratification bit)..
I have planted some seeds, but they are still really small, growing slow lol..
I even tried putting them in the fridge &think I ruined them..
But it's about finding what method is best for you, what works for one might not work for another..
This is the first video I have watched, but you saying lavender been quite hard to grow, have you tried rosemary from seed??..I have managed to grow some from cuttings,it took me long enough though..

First time with Lavender this year. I hope the seeds aren't as difficult as dichondra (silver falls). Those are incredibly difficult to germinate. I tried over a hundred harvested from prior season so they were fresh and only 3 germinated. I recycled the soil and they finally germinated many months later in other plant pots. Very very unpredictable plants and they grow ultra slowly to boot. I even tried with a heated mat and still nada until months later.

I am not even all the way through your video and have already found it so informative. This is my first time starting lavender from seed and you have answered most, if not all of my questions. Prior to viewing your video, I did stratify my seeds for much longer than you did but I'm not really sure that matters. Many others say 4-6 weeks of stratification. This process is supposed to replicate winter which is several months anyway. My questions began once I was germinating my seeds. I did as you did and was worried about how long my germinated seeds were taking to grow. I actually brought them with me to and from work so I could keep an eye on them. I now know that what I've done should be successful and I will return to view your video time and time again. Thank you! Kathy

Hi, similarly to my delphinium seeds, I did the moist towel method in the fridge for 4 weeks. None of them germinated in the towel but I sowed them in a jiffy starter kit. After a week, I do have have of the cells germinated with at least 1 sprout even though I put 3-4 seeds per cells. So not as high a rate compared to my delphiniums, but maybe they will continue to sprout over the coming weeks. When should I remove the humidity dome for lavender?

Gardening is a hobby but it doesn't have to be an expensive hobby. There are so many ways to save money while gardening. Speaking of which, I haven't done it myself, but I've heard that if you had a willow tree, you could make your own rooting hormone with it. Please look into that. Maybe you can find a cheap willow tree on Facebook Marketplace. Or better yet, see if you can find someone that has a willow tree and take cuttings of it and root them in water. They root super easily in water! Good luck, my friend. Gardening is truly therapy for the soul! 💞😊
