Tourist: Hey kid, when does it stop raining here in Scotland?
Kid: Why are you asking me? I'm only 8.

Thank you for creating such helpful videos like this. Informative without being patronising. A pleasure to watch and learn.

Thank you for this video about street photography. I tend to shoot with a focal length of f/1.4 to f/1.8, which seems too shallow. Your idea of 2.8 allows for more action in the photo. I feel encouraged to seek more opportunities of street photography.

Great insight into kit, setting etc. Love the candids and agree asking a random person for a picture feels strange to begin with, but never had anyone say no!

Thanks Jeff, I wish I could say the same, lost a few great shots because of people saying no, but you don't ask, you don't get 👍

I like the way you speak to the viewers. I's so clear for me. Keep speaking like that 😀 I subscribed ...

I agree catching a photo of someone taking a picture tells more of a story. As does shooting through the crowd. Great video!

Hi Marc, I'm a little confused, you mention in the piece that your Nifty Fifty on a Canon crop sensor is equivalent to around 31mm, I have just purchased the Tamron 100 x 400mm telephoto and I'm under the impression on my Canon crop sensor the equifalent reach is 160 x 560mm, could you please help with my confusion.
    Regards,
    Shaun x

Hi Shaun, this should answer your questions th-cam.com/video/HelicJbAjng/w-d-xo.html there's also a free download explaining sensor sizes and focal lengths. Also it's not the nifty fifty I am using in the video. Hope that helps 👍

      Big Thanx Marc, got it.
I didn't realize you where using a zoom lens, not a prime (Nifty Fifty) and would have to zoom out from 50mm to 31mm, as mentioned in the “Edinburgh Fringe” vlog and 35mm to 22mm mentioned in the “Sensor Sizes Explained” vlog, to get the equivalent field of view using an APS-C with a 1.6 (Canon) crop factor, compared to a full frame sensor.
Hope your with me, your right it is complicated to explain and understand, it gets even more interesting when we talk about EF and EF-S mounts!! Mind you once you get it for one manufacturer you get it for the rest Nikon, Sony, Pentax etc.
I also appreciate I only seem to get more reach on the Tamron telephoto lens because I'm using an EF mount lens on a EF-S mount body and benefit from the 1.6 crop factor.
Anyway keep up the good work it's really appreciated.
I'm in the Canterbury area and would appreciate a heads up if your doing anything you think I might be interested in (Second Shooter, Video Shooter etc) anything really.
      Regards,
      Shaun x

street photoghraphy- in a sense of photographing random people, is something I never tried before. May be cause of the nature and culture of countries I been to or may be cause I felt it bit intrusive! But I liked your perspective on the subject and worth a try

Well would you Adam and Eve it Marc - I myself was in Edinburgh for a day the first week in September! I missed you by a few days at most. Drat! Now wouldn't that have been weird ... me seeing a chap taking pictures and realising that it was you! I think I might have dropped my camera in surprise!!! Took a clutch of pics myself ... not quite up to your standard but I will put one or two which I think may have some merit onto the TSOP Facebook page in due course (I'm amazed at how many pics I have to bin at the mo!?). Curiously I was also using a prime 50 mm lens, but on a Canon crop frame camera - APS-C - and I was using manual mode throughout, with ISO mostly on auto. And yes, Edinburgh is a fabulous city (fab architecture) - especially the old quarter. Wish I'd seen your great tutorial vid before I had gotten there though! Much enjoyed.

Thanks Mike, well I saw Martin Parr there doing the same as me. Now for me, that was something, near on based my disatation on his work back in the 90's! Was great to chat to him about photography.
Look forward to seeing some shots on the FB group 👍👍

Hey I am looking out to buy a entry level DSLR
I am confused with which one to buy either Nikon d3400 or Nikon d5300 they both cost around same 500$ but d3400 comes with 18-55mm and 70-300mm lens but d5300 comes with only 18-55mm kit lens
So finally which one to buy?...🤔🤔

I liked your film... except for the guy "squeezing the cat"; maybe if I had known that tune(?). Regrettably, Fringe 2020 has been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and "social-distancing rules" will hamper and inhibit close photography of people, sadly.
"Of course, photography being photography one has to be a little more creative to get the desired picture", I hear you say. Be well, Marc!

Is that Anya Taylor-Joy? Looks like her. Perhaps that's why she is wearing the mask. Maybe she didn't want to get recognized.
