I never got into shaving because I've always used an epilator or just tweezers. Takes a bit more time, but I feel like they're more effective than shaving~
i had the same issue with Quip and my tight teeth. i even tried wrapping the floss a couple times around each end, which was a bit time consuming and made the floss stay taut a little longer than just pinching the single strand. i also noticed the same issue as you with the natural floss breaking easily with my right teeth😞
There with you! I use the Orthomechanics Easy Flosser. It uses more floss per use than quip, but it stays in place really well! I've never had to use more than one piece of floss in one flossing session. I don't think the packaging was zero waste, but I've had it for 3 years with no issues whatsoever!
Also I use Glide floss with it (not zero waste but I need it - tight teeth like you said). I just take the floss roll out of the Glide container and pop it into the Easy Flosser
Target sells recycled bath tissue & it's great! Unfortunately, it's packaged in plastic, but it's store drop off recyclable plastic. I suppose that plastic is most protective.
For deodorant, you can use AHA or BHA toners or serums. You can use a few drops or sprays of skincare products that have these as the main active ingredients. I have had success with salycitic acid toner pads like Stridex but I'm moving to make less waste by either pouring some salycitic acid toner into a small spray bottle that I already have. Or, for a more sustainable option, I could use an acid from The Ordinary (they sell acid serums in glass bottles with glass pipettes). Salycitic acid goes into your pores to kill bacteria, not just surface bacteria, so using it twice a day keeps me stink free. Lume deodorant uses majestic acid, but you could just get a man epic acid serum from The Ordinary and skip most of the plastic.
I have sensitive teeth and I'm also sensitive to SLS which is in most toothpastes, so literally the only one I can use is Sensodyne. I tried toothpaste tabs and got on fine with them but after a few weeks my tooth sensitivity started coming back so I had to go back to Sensodyne which was disappointing from an eco perspective! 😕
I would definitely check out products with xylitol and or nano-hydroxyapatite for your teeth. Better than fluoride in my perspective. Can you send a link on the coconut crush shampoo bar, I can’t find it.
I would love some sources on those ingredients if you have them! Otherwise i'm going to trust my dentist... Here is the coconut crush :) the-coconut-crush-2.myshopify.com/
Geo Organics is available in toothpaste tabs, powder and mouthwash in Australia/ Oceania. Might be available in other countries. Haven’t tried the toothpaste but have checked the ingredients list and it’s a good option. If your sodium sensitive check all ingredients online from all companies brands and don’t give kids adult toothpaste. There are also chemicals band in the US and Europe that aren’t banned in other countries including Australia. Toms of maines original formula is one of those. Can’t remember the name will need to look it up. Under no circumstances is that toothpaste to be given to children. Bi-carb soda/ sodium bicarbonate/ bicarbonate soda (food grade) is a common ingredient that’s safe and whitens teeth and freshens breath try to get something with this. Also check abrasiveness on some aluminium foil (you can save some for this purpose) it shouldn’t be too abrasive this will help you choose a toothpaste that’s not damaging to your teeth. You can also read all the ingredients and what those chemicals are online to make an informed decision for you before you purchase. A good brand will be transparent about the ingredients. Sorry for the bombardment.
you can use a mimikaki stick, it's spoon-shaped and made of bamboo. there are also silicon swabs. i've never used either so i can't recommend anything :)
I think it’s like.. fluoride flooding water systems, where it’s had a history of findings of already existing.. so I’m searching to weigh the issue too.
Just a warning about reusable pads. Do not wear them when flying. I've been flagged when going through airport security scanners. It's the press studs which holds them in place which triggers the scanner. Because of this, I will use single use pads for travel. Buying 1 pack of panty liners a year is not going to upset me as much as having TSA question me.
I like the idea of toothpaste tabs but a tube of paste (Toms or David’s) will last 6+mos so I can’t justify the high cost of tabs even to try out. I like my bamboo brush but haven’t yet tried a plastic free bristle one. I switched over to a wooden hairbrush and it was the BEST choice for my hair plus plastic free. I swap back and forth between Earthling bars and commercial curly hair products, it depends on my mood but much like toothpaste it takes about 6+ mos to use up a bottle of shampoo (I’ve gotten down to 1 wash a week regularly and occasionally 2) so I am not feeling guilty about it lol.
There are a few brands I use that are 100% recycled toilet paper. Yes they do come in a plastic wrap, but they are more affordable for me. Kroger sells Simple Truth 100% Recycled. Target sells EverSpring 100% Recycled. And if you have a Whole Foods their 365 brand has 100% Recycled Toilet Paper. Hope this helps anyone who wants to try to be better but can't break the bank.
I also live a environmentally friendly lifestyle. It's nice to know others do too. Cloth paper products including toilet paper, vegan, reusable shopping bags, barefoot lifestyle. I'm in the minority and I just wish all humans would adopt the desire to be environmentally friendly.

You are also swapping out as needed. I have found that swapping these items as I used up my existing ones it has been about the same cost. But also most people are using way more than is actually necessary, for example I use a bottle of shampoo over 6+ mos but my fiancé uses the same bottle of shampoo (with way shorter hair) in like 2mos. The only pricy swap I made was reusable pads and underwear but it was very worth it.
Native deodorant never works for me 😭 maybe a small smell reduction, but almost nothing. Ethique deodorant actually works for me?? Well, off and on, to some extent. At least it works better for me than Native. I want to like Native so bad!
I wish one of the eco-friendly brands would make a fragrance free antiperspirant. I don't care for deodorants as much and would really like a brand that is also Cruelty-free with eco-friendly packaging.
@@kleptomelly don't like the feeling of sweat? My first time wearing deodorant was so unnerving! So I get it. It's a really odd feeling the sweat drip down! 🤢😱 Lol
Native used to work for me until unilever bought them and changed the ingredients! Ethique was fine but I found their solid deodorant bars hard for me to use. I like Humble currently and they come in both plastic and compostable paper stick forms!
I really don’t like these types of videos because they’re just another type of consumption. I wish you’d talk about how to take real ACTION. Like how to leave comments on pipeline projects, how to contact your mayor, or county commissioner, or whatever, about getting recycling and composting programs put in place.
Check out the rest of Emma's videos, she has a lot on how to reduce consumption and a fair bit on activism as well! I don't really see a problem with talking about swaps like this because we all need to use stuff like soap and toothbrushes, so why not make a more eco friendly choice?

So honored to be part of your low-waste shower routine.. and did you say FAVORITE shampoo + conditioner?! 🥹😭💙 Thank you Emma!!!
ALWAYS!! YES literally my fav!!! It's so soft, works so well, and it doesn't get more zero waste than refills :) Thank YOU!!
my absolute favorite as well ❤🎉
Honestly I had such bad shopping habits in my mid to late teens, I am still using up unopened shampoo and bodywash products.
wow!! But for real, the most eco thing you can do is use that up, good work!
I would add maybe saving water? (the gray water bucket method) I have a ton of plants so it really helps with water usage here!
😄
yes for sure this was just swaps to buy but there are so many habits you can implement!
Great video Emma! Also I love your hair color!!

That’s true about the bidet cold water attachment. Hot water would not come automatically.
