I love my meliora powder. I am lucky enough to have a refill shop close enough to visit every few months so I don't really have to deal with their packaging. For powder storage, a glass jar might be better for humid areas to prevent clumping. I actually use an old travel mug (the kind with a hole in the lid to drink from) and pour directly into the drum. A four second pour is about one tablespoon 😊
After I’m done with my last pack of sheets I’m trying a powder. I can’t remember if you review Blueland, I’ll have to go back and look. But Meliora, Charlie’s Soap and Mollys were on my list to look into. The one thing I read about Charlie’s soap is to use a 2nd rinse cycle to get out any leftover powder. Seems wasteful on water and kinda defeats part of the purpose of using it. With everyone talking about Meliora, I think I’ll give that serious consideration. Thanx for all the hard work!
I'm a huge fan of Meliora! I get their lavender laundry detergent, unscented laundry detergent (for kitchen stuff so our food doesn't smell/taste like soap), and the oxygen booster/brightener. I've also tried their solid dish soap block, which was great if you like solid dish soap. I've never tried the other brands in this video, though I've been very curious about the eco egg.
Have you looked into Happi Earth? It is an Australian brand of concentrated soapnut derived detergent. I ordered some to try and have used it for 2 moderately dirty loads, it worked well but it would be great to see your take.
I had my Eco egg and dryer balls for several years. Sadly Eco Egg and the other 'eco/green ' brands I have tried are not strong enough for hubby's work clothes as a diesel mechanic. I do use a 'conventional' laundry detergent brand for his work clothes. However, I do use Ecosyore brand for every else. Eco store is an eco friendly brand. The detergent is concentrated and a 750ml/26 fl oz container lasts 3 months. The packaging is made from plant plastic. Suggested dose/serving size is 3 pumps but half to one pump is all I use.
Well done creating this, it must have taken alot of time over several weeks/months to test everything. I wondered if you came across any eco whitening products? I do a white only wash and find my whites get grey/stained, so currently using oxy white powder - I felt the chemicals used are worth it to extend the life of the clothes, but I feel bad about using it!
@TheSimpleEnvironmentalist thank you for the recommendation, I just had a look at their website and their oxygen brightener can also be used for cleaning (aswell as washing)... deffo on the list for when my current one runs out 🙂
With the ecoegg the plastic egg can last up to 10years I use to use them but sadly they are currently out of business at the moment from last time I heard
Etee is a eco brand that sells laundry powder that is supposed to be highly concentrated. They say that you only need to use one teaspoon for a load. Would love to see your thoughts on that.
I live in an RV and do not have space for that much. Nor do I have time to make DIYs and I love to support small businesses! but maybe one day :) it's okay to not make stuff from scratch
Most powders don’t dissolve in my machine even when I use way less than they recommend, I’ve had to switch to liquid which is such a shame. Love your videos 👍✌️🙏❤
I have had the non-dissolving issue sometimes, which I think is because I use cold water to wash my items. So I use a little warm water to dilute the sheets with before-hand, and stir it with a tiny wire whisk and add to my detergent compartment of my washer. That works out well for me
I just dissolve my laundry powder in hot water BEFORE it goes in the machine. Regarding the eco egg, it would still be releasing detergent during the rinse cycles, so you'll end up with detergent residue all over your 'clean' clothes (unless you pause the machine just before the rinse cycle to remove the egg).
I looked into the TM laundry sheets as they piqued my interest and the first ingredient is an alternative name for sodium laurel sulfate. So not the best. Sigh. I'll keep looking. Also I found it scammy that it shows price per load being what it would be if you used 1/2 sheet yet the instructions say use a full sheet and for a boost use two. lol So it's 25 cents a load if you get the 3 pack, 30 cents a load for the single pack, yet they say .15 per load. Ya gotta watch marketers. lol Oh well, if you find a better sheets one, let us know. I'm interested.

Meliora is the best! so many good things to say I can't believe I waited this long to try!
Thinking I will go for a liquid concentrate of some kind after seeing all yours/others reviews👍 trying out rustic strength
liquid concentrates are great! good luck!
I have used the laundry sheets from Sweden and find them to clean well and do not leave much residue on clothing.
do they contain PVA?
@@TheSimpleEnvironmentalist The box I bought in Denmark states this product does have PVA.
@@travelwithingrid7608 i see

true that these may not work on the stinkiest of clothes!

woah really? weird
it's just their online store that is closed, they are still in business!

Going to try Meliora after I run out of dropps!
yayyy hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
When I looked for laundry sheets tm, the site for them says it does have pva. It just lists it at the end as Poly (Vinyl Alcohol)
And when I researcher sheets, they have micro-plastics in them. I ending up trying Molly's powder. I've been very happy with it.
it does??? UGH I even missed that. Sneaky of them glad I never reviewed them
yes exactly why i don't like PVA
@@TheSimpleEnvironmentalist I was looking cause I love the idea of sheets but I've not found one without pva yet.
I’m going to try Meliora after I run out of my laundry sheets!
woohoo hope you enjoy it! Don't forget to use my link :)
@@TheSimpleEnvironmentalist absolutely I will! It’ll be a while from now though because I have quite a few laundry sheets left haha
A lot of things come with those silica gel packets and a couple could be tossed into the powder to keep it from clumping I would think.
good idea!!
My gf almost can’t live without softener what information do you have on softeners? Any natural ones?
I haven't used it in 7 years so I have no experience, sorry!
Does she want it for softening or smell? For softening use vinegar 2tbsp instead of softener , for smell maybe wool dryer balls and essential oils.
Sorry if this is redundant, I did search for your answer. Why do you not make laundry powder yourself? Have you not found a good and effective recipe?

no residue from the eco egg!

The eco egg pellets dont dissolve?
nope! I mean, a little bit over time which is why you replace them after a few months. But they do not dissolve immediately
@TheSimpleEnvironmentalist white ones or the darker ones?

I’m tripping every time u say serving size 😂 I associate that with food only. I just say per load, is serving size an American term?
