    Tip from our old-somewhat eccentric- pediatrician. My little sister had a lot of warts on her hands. He told my parents to let her pick the strawberries in our garden. It worked! The warts disappeared. Apparently the strawberry leaves contain an anti-wart ingredient. I have no idea how but it worked.

    • @kellyp6675
      @kellyp6675 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      Strawberries and their leaves are high in salicylate. Salicylic acid is the primary ingredient in OTC wart remover.

      How did you process the strawberries, were they cooked, or external ? I suffer from warts and nothing is working for them.

    • @belight123
      @belight123 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      @@debrabrooks6138 you could make a hand salve, I'm thinking about doing it, actually. You would need to harvest the strawberry leaves, put them in a mason jar (it needs a good seal, trust me), and then fill the jar with all the leaves then cover with an oil. You can use olive oil, grape-seed oil, jojoba oil, sunflower, canola, etc (it will be used topical, so it should be fine if you choose one of these).
      You can do a rush job and put it in a water bath if you want the leaves to extract out faster, or you could just go the regular route and cover all the leaves with the oil (fill it all the way up and cover the leaves) and then set it in a window sill that doesn't get direct sun for 4-6 weeks for the oil to infuse.
      Once infused, strain off the leaves and keep the oil that's now infused. From there, you can make a salve.
      Use one cup of infused oil and 1/4 cup of beeswax. Melt them together in a small sauce pan that you don't care to get wax in, (an old one or second-hand one would be best) and then let them melt together, don't over heat it.
      Once it's all melted, transfer the liquid to small jars for personal use. If you have some salve tins that would be cool too. I just bought some tins online so I can make my own salves. This is a salve that I will try and the recipe stays the same, 1 cup oil to 1/4 cup beeswax.
      God luck!

    interesting. I moved into a new place in november 2021. They had raised beds for a garden. I was planting tomatoes, peppers, carrots and radishes when I discovered that there were a couple strawberry plants growing next to the shed. It was nice, got a few ripe strawberries last year. I kept the plants watered and fed them with banana peel water over the summer. This year, after sending out many runners last year, the plants are doing very well and there are dozens of flowers. It will be nice to try the leaves as I didnt know that was a thing.
    Also, while weeding a raised bed(mostly grasses) I discovered the previous owner had planted asparagus. BONUS!

    Strawberry leaf tea is really good for gout also. I used to make up tea blends for work, one of my coworkers liked it and told me I had a magic potion because it took his gout pain away. Tonight, I just took my partner's discarded tops and added them to my tossed green salad. I wanted more greens and we were out. Everything good in the greens is something that can benefit us both! Like you aid, even throwing them in meatballs, etc. I subbed to you. In the 70's, my ex and I had a huge garden and I never thought of eating the berry greens. Yet I ate dandilion green salad from my mil and wine from it! WOW! I just felt like I was born again tonight! Thank You once again! I take about 22 supplements a day and because we live in a tiny apt. I never have been able to grow anything. BUT...from now on I will eat every top that comes gratis free with my strawberry!

They just popped em in their mouth, leaves and all, and I thought well, it's like a beautiful garnish put right there by God... and they made me wonder...hmmm most other fruits, when picked, don't have leaves left on...I wonder what nutrition is in them... maybe that's why they stay on when picked. Thank you for sharing what I suspected. Ill be eating my strawberries WITH the pretty garnish from Yah from now on! 🍓

    Wanted to give you a tip I learned and love it. Try it out . After collecting your tea leafs clean dry and put in zip lock bag strait into freezer for 8 to overnight then using your hands squeeze them very very well then spread out thin layers and dry them well( that process breaks the cells and will give your tea super flavor when they dry). There also a fermenting process also. But this is much easier and try side by side this way and plain dry leaf tea, Its amazing

    We have June bearing plants in one area. The the ever bearing in another space. We love both. The everbearing aren't big producers after the main season but they are enough for a surprise shortcat occasionally. Then my husband picks the few almost daily, late into the fall. Thats his special treat for me. They spike my spirit, a reminder that God provides all the time. I must make tea. Our daughter in law is into making jams an jellies. So good.

    I am overwintering my strawberries in the house...lol! I didn’t get them planted because I grew them from seed and they were small and it’s started to get cold so I just never planted them! I’m gonna give some of the leaves a try! They are now nice and luscious! Thanks!😊

      I’m making some sauerkraut today and going to blend my black raspberry/habanero hot sauce that I have had fermenting for a few months! It smells delicious and has quite a bit of heat! I wish I would’ve harvested more black raspberries but the birds love them so much so I had to let them eat a few! Lol!
      Have a great day! I will be watching a few more of your videos! Thanks for putting them out there!😊💗

      I always use dandelion leaves in my salad and occasionally will tear up a young grape leaf. They are a bit tart but you want young tender leaves. I have not added strawberry leaves to salad yet but I would make sure they were tore or cut up small because they can be rather tough.

      @@RainCountryHomestead in my backyard here in Florida I have tons and tons of grape leaves. In fact I would call it an invasive plant at this point LOL. And I've always known we could make stuffed grape leaves. But I never thought about drying them or using in salad. I bet with a good olive oil vinaigrette this would be really awesome!
