Honestly, I think I’d prefer the grainy eyes with the original moulds than whatever the KX pets have got going on 😂 the pets with grainy eyes do honestly look more like G2 pets.
I've been hearing the "grateful" comment floating around with G7 i kinda have to disagree because like, we deserve better. We've GOTTEN better, just because a majority of the fanbase is older now doesn't mean they have to slack off and think it won't be noticable lmao.

Yea i was one of those people when g7 was JUST getting to be leaked and released because ppl were complaining about main fives but now im disagreeing mainly to the fact that they have bad quality and majority of us alumni collectors want better designs. Like holy shit the quality has been getting worse. One thing good about my g7 lps is that their squishy heads are getting harder over time which is good to me.
Why is it like uncanny valley but with LPS… but seriously, yikes. I’m gonna have to be making sure I’m getting screen printed eyes instead of painted on eyes cuz they look so faaaake.
it is worrying me that the quality of these pets are going so poorly so quickly. im glad LPS is back and all but i want the kids who get to grow up with these toys to grow up with *good* quality toys! kids notice these things, kids care, and kids deserve better. and the older fanbase also deserves better because lbr we're the main reason they're getting so much more money, LPS has been gone for long enough that other kids toys have grown in popularity, if it weren't for the older fanbase...i dont know how much money they'd be getting. in regards to these being specifically from Five Below, i think it's good to remember something you even pointed out at the beginning of the video: they're more expensive at five below than anywhere else! so paying more for lower quality is awful to see. the backwards heads scare me a ton too like...aren't the bobble mechanisms picky about being turned?? i recall many of my LPS breaking if their heads got pushed beyond their limits and being so bobbly that they basically could swivel their heads 360 degrees the wave 2 LPS I've gotten so far have all been so squishy (even a bunch of my wave 1 ones are), and vary in paint quality and general plastic color. the only one that looks good is my david bowie german shepherd (thank god for that), but even that one still is super squishy, which just sounds AWFUL for sculpting on and weird for a toy in general

ohhh second comment but i remember picking up a bunch of blind boxes from target with like.. solid eyes? absolutely no graininess at all and the heads were REALLY HARD. no squish at all. i know that theres a little bit of speculation about this wave so i was just adding in my personal experience. probably the best set ive rver got

nah all of them look off AND I NOTICED THE PAINTING!! im a custom maker and the bumpiness for the accessories is very clearly acrylic paint. man i got the g2 shepherd and the poor lad looked awful; i repainted them bc the eye job was that bad
This might be controversial, but I think the new pink wolfcat is super cute! I got it from ToysRUs over here in Canada back in the summer. I do agree that it’s too bad they didn’t paint under her paw, but I think her design/colour and mold are adorable! Maybe I just got lucky with its quality though.

omg that is so weird u should try and find the batch i have 1652 to look at to. It has painted eyes, the old molds, unpainted accessories ( unless needed), and colour like the pixel eye ones. My wolf cat for example has a fully painted paw, darker eyes like the pixel eyes, the rougher plastic, and old mold.
To me it looks like these newer ones were created by trying to make a new master from a previous mold. The issue is that each mold will have slightly less detail- thats why bootlegs are always just sliiiiightly off, theyre using a postmarket product usually to create their mold. Im not an expert- just interested in toymaking- but it looks to me that the problem is when they created the 2024 remaster they should have refined some of the sculpted detail, but it looks like they just didnt. It reminds me of the 1980s my little ponys: in the late 80s some of the early molds were slightly recarved. But they were done with a lot of skill and possibly using the original masters so they dont have a loss of detail, they just have slightly varied poses. Meanwhile there are some bootlegs which have a very slight impression of the original symbol because the bootleg mold captured the layer of paint!
I mistyped slightly so to clarify: the “master” is the original. An expensive metal mold is made which produces what you buy. But if you take the produced cast and make a new mold, it will have slightly less detail because there is always some loss. So if you master -> mold-> cast -> mold -> cast you lose detail. You need to take the master and make the mold out of that OR add the detail back in to the remaster.
Thank god i'm not the only one bothered by these new molds!! I don't get why they made these to even start with, the main reason for G7 was the demand for the og G2 molds to be back, and now we get these molds that are just less detailed versions of the old molds they already have 😭😭 it feels like such a waste of money because obviously it costed money to make these 2024 molds, especially for a company that's in bankruptcy I'd rather have old molds with squishy heads and grainy eyes tbh
I was talking to some people on my lps account on instagram, and they were saying that they think basic fun is purchasing the old molds from hasbro, still which is a cool theory but also i think that they should just buy older lps to make mold of them if thats true
I think making new molds from the old lps may actually be causing these issues, every mold loses slightly more detail. If they were buying the old molds they would be exact.
This new wave is just garbage, the more you unpack the more upset it getting. I’m a HUUGE lps fan that so you know I’m not a hater or anything, it’s just I’m collecting since early childhood and to these days and it’s just hurts me to see how this toys getting more and more cheap. I actually enjoyed the first wave that came out, yea it has some problems too but in general pets looks nice, but THIS, this is just disappointing. They dirty, poorly made, no one cares if it’s actually looks bad, that the colors don’t match, that there’s still side plastic left on them, that the print is BAD. They just packing it hoping kids won’t notice but kids are not dumb either, we all see that our money just spent on GARBAGE. At this point some of them especially like this panda you shown in the video doesn’t look like authentic lps toys, they just looks like those ugly bootlegs that in this case I can justify but NOT the ACTUAL ORIGINAL TOYS.
I recently got a duplicate of the pink wolf cat, they both have the same 2009 mold but one of them has the printed eyes and the other the painted ones. I’m gonna be honest I’ve been pretty lucky and haven’t been getting many misprints or grainy eyes so I’ve enjoyed the printed eyes but the second wolf cat I got with painted eyes looks so goofy.

There definitely is a difference with the quality. The few that I got from the first batch were all pretty good but this newer batch with painted eyes I would assume from a different/new factory have been a gamble. Nonetheless I’m enjoying the experience of the blind boxes.
Also I know the pink wolfcat specifically had the whole stock image misprint on the card, it wasn’t on the card for the original printed eyes but it was on the newer one with painted eyes, not sure if it means anything, maybe just quality control between manufacturers.

I really hope they study the colors and designs used with gen 2 lps further so they can make them more accurate and less saturated. The random slapped on lightbolts have also been bugging me and I don’t know why they didn’t just stick with the eye shine shapes for personality indicators.
I got 9 wave one LPS from these boxes, the eyes ARE SO GRAINY warning for that, I heard it’s better in wave 2 but idk and my wolfcat has a misprint! They didn’t paint the white in her lower eye! Although I want to get all the g7 LPs, I dislike them with a passion, but no matter how low quality they are, I NEEED THEM ALL 👺😊
most of my wave 2 lps look like the 2nd one! harder heads, painted eyes, some paint errors but it feels totally different than wave 1 and early wave 2 pets
I hope Wave 3 both increases the quality control [perferably if there's no more misprints and errors and cracks] and the variety of pets [bees, butterflies, seahorses, pigs, whales, non-exclusive dragons, new pets such as hammerhead sharks and dinosaurs]!
I got a couple of these yesterday and... yeah, their eyes are just strange. I have no idea what they're doing to put them on, but it looks like they put all of the layers on separately; I got a llama where one of the eye colors was escaping from the rest of the eye, overlapping on top of the other eye color, and the eye whites just seemed to be... too low? Definitely uncanny valley-esque effect, no clue what the hell Basic Fun was thinking.
Also I have to say the German shepherd in advertised pics the eyes quality and design shape is perfect but then on the actual toy it's more miss placed and thicker I guess you can say. So it's just upsetting to see that basic fun them selves know what they need to do to have a good look but they choose to release them not as good. This also goes for the lucky paw up blue cat where on advertised pic is so amazing but then in the doll house play set it's terrible eyes designed
Yes!! A lot of the advertising pictures look perfect and should be exactly how the LPS are, but irl they just don’t look right😭 I really don’t know how it could be so lost in translation

I feel like I don't trust KX compared to ES, ES might be grainy but I feel like the eyes have more depth and seem higher in paint quality. The KX ones eyes seem very sticker-eye to me
I bought two of the axolotls. Both the ES codes, intentionally got two incase one was messed up. Was disappointed that both were. The first had like, small pores in the plastic of his face. Looks like the chemical mixing of the plastic was off. The other was good except for one of his eyes looked like it had been partially rubbed away but in like, a factory error way. Doesnt show up on camera. Is this the "grainy" eyes everyone's talking about? Either way very sad. I'm poor and I only want the axolotls right now. But i think I'll be going back and trying my luck again. At least i could potentially have customs. Maybe I'll have better luck with the KX code ones
Oh no I’m sorry you got messed up ones😭😭 crossing my fingers wave 3 will have some quality improvements. But that is a good point, you could always try customizing one. The axolotls are pretty fun to paint :D
I'm not sure I like the alternative paint style, even though the grainyness of the other style is a issue, I feel like they actually have personality, or at least look more "alive" I'd rather grainy paint over flat emptiness
I would like to see more natural colored pets and also a mix of pastel colored pets. The pink wolfcat and pink llama are pastel, the all pink bunny in the winter 5 pack is pastel colored, the lavender/blue husky with the snow leopard and bear is pastel, the capybaras should be more natural colored the colors they chose for the 2 capybaras for wave 2 look unnatural and unpleasant to the eyes. I also would like to see more rabbits done like the black and white rabbit the wave 2 park pets trio tube. That pose is adorable, and I would like to see a speckled rabbit the body is silver with lavender ears, and lavender freckles and dots. More of the cute squirrel pets and I hope for wave 3 they make a racoon, an antelope, a siberian white tiger, a chimpanzee, an okapi, a tree frog, a purple hippo, a pink and purple horse or unicorn, a white wolfcat, a turquoise/aqua axolotl, a russian blue cat, a cream colored otter, a pink, yellow and seafoam green tropical fish, a maine coon cat, a badger and a pink flamingo for wave 3 pets.
My blue and "white" panda was green on the body too! What is happening with these pets!? I will say that the heads on my recent purchases haven't been squishy but I could've just been getting lucky with the squishy heads... 😭😭😭😭
I have a problem with the wave 2 capybara,and the green and purple possum ,who designed them 😭 like why are they making them look so cute but the colors look terrible on them ,the two pack with the gray llama and pink possum are so cute but the green and purple blind box possum makes me feel sad because the quality of the plastic and the colors don’t look good,it would’ve looked better if they just changed the green to a darker purple or even a blue, but they picked puke green instead 😭,edit: I also don’t like the green color on the woodpecker,I love green but it’s not a good color when it’s bright neon looking like snot
It looks like they are trying to step away from the grainy eyes and do a more clean look, which is nice. Its like fixed one problem and then made so many more... Using all white for the toys sounds like they are trying to cut corners for sure, but you would think that getting them painted by hand would still have some sort of cost to it. I hope that they get someone else to do quality control. It shouldn't be you guys that have to go "hey so this looks really bad did you even check these before they were shipped?" It feels like the one who does the quality control just goes "Okay so it has the same colors and the eyes. Good enough send it out these are for kids anyways." But yeah this is all a really bad sign. And all after them getting out of bankruptcy too. This is noooooot a good look when you have to appeal to investors and fans...
Ya I think stepping away from the grainy look is smart since that’s a complaint that most people have, and it would be GREAT, but the print application is so much worse with these guys so far. Nothing seems lined up properly, especially on the eyes :(

That glossy wolf cat just straight up looks fake to me. The older one might have grainy eyes but at least she looks like an actual lps

I hope Wave 3 both increases the quality control [perferably if there's no more misprints and errors and cracks] and the variety of pets [bees, butterflies, seahorses, pigs, whales, non-exclusive dragons, new pets such as hammerhead sharks and dinosaurs]!

I got a couple of these yesterday and... yeah, their eyes are just strange. I have no idea what they're doing to put them on, but it looks like they put all of the layers on separately; I got a llama where one of the eye colors was escaping from the rest of the eye, overlapping on top of the other eye color, and the eye whites just seemed to be... too low? Definitely uncanny valley-esque effect, no clue what the hell Basic Fun was thinking.

Also I have to say the German shepherd in advertised pics the eyes quality and design shape is perfect but then on the actual toy it's more miss placed and thicker I guess you can say. So it's just upsetting to see that basic fun them selves know what they need to do to have a good look but they choose to release them not as good. This also goes for the lucky paw up blue cat where on advertised pic is so amazing but then in the doll house play set it's terrible eyes designed
Yes!! A lot of the advertising pictures look perfect and should be exactly how the LPS are, but irl they just don’t look right😭 I really don’t know how it could be so lost in translation

ive noticed that about that exact wolfcat, something about it looks fake and most pets with the 2024 number have that odd look to them; im not sure how to explain it but i have two of that newer wolfcat and she looks VERY fake,

I bought two of the axolotls. Both the ES codes, intentionally got two incase one was messed up. Was disappointed that both were. The first had like, small pores in the plastic of his face. Looks like the chemical mixing of the plastic was off. The other was good except for one of his eyes looked like it had been partially rubbed away but in like, a factory error way. Doesnt show up on camera. Is this the "grainy" eyes everyone's talking about? Either way very sad. I'm poor and I only want the axolotls right now. But i think I'll be going back and trying my luck again. At least i could potentially have customs. Maybe I'll have better luck with the KX code ones
Oh no I’m sorry you got messed up ones😭😭 crossing my fingers wave 3 will have some quality improvements. But that is a good point, you could always try customizing one. The axolotls are pretty fun to paint :D
I'm not sure I like the alternative paint style, even though the grainyness of the other style is a issue, I feel like they actually have personality, or at least look more "alive"

I would like to see more natural colored pets and also a mix of pastel colored pets. The pink wolfcat and pink llama are pastel, the all pink bunny in the winter 5 pack is pastel colored, the lavender/blue husky with the snow leopard and bear is pastel, the capybaras should be more natural colored the colors they chose for the 2 capybaras for wave 2 look unnatural and unpleasant to the eyes. I also would like to see more rabbits done like the black and white rabbit the wave 2 park pets trio tube. That pose is adorable, and I would like to see a speckled rabbit the body is silver with lavender ears, and lavender freckles and dots. More of the cute squirrel pets and I hope for wave 3 they make a racoon, an antelope, a siberian white tiger, a chimpanzee, an okapi, a tree frog, a purple hippo, a pink and purple horse or unicorn, a white wolfcat, a turquoise/aqua axolotl, a russian blue cat, a cream colored otter, a pink, yellow and seafoam green tropical fish, a maine coon cat, a badger and a pink flamingo for wave 3 pets.

I have a problem with the wave 2 capybara,and the green and purple possum ,who designed them 😭 like why are they making them look so cute but the colors look terrible on them ,the two pack with the gray llama and pink possum are so cute but the green and purple blind box possum makes me feel sad because the quality of the plastic and the colors don’t look good,it would’ve looked better if they just changed the green to a darker purple or even a blue, but they picked puke green instead 😭,edit: I also don’t like the green color on the woodpecker,I love green but it’s not a good color when it’s bright neon looking like snot

It looks like they are trying to step away from the grainy eyes and do a more clean look, which is nice. Its like fixed one problem and then made so many more... Using all white for the toys sounds like they are trying to cut corners for sure, but you would think that getting them painted by hand would still have some sort of cost to it. I hope that they get someone else to do quality control. It shouldn't be you guys that have to go "hey so this looks really bad did you even check these before they were shipped?" It feels like the one who does the quality control just goes "Okay so it has the same colors and the eyes. Good enough send it out these are for kids anyways."
But yeah this is all a really bad sign. And all after them getting out of bankruptcy too. This is noooooot a good look when you have to appeal to investors and fans...
Ya I think stepping away from the grainy look is smart since that’s a complaint that most people have, and it would be GREAT, but the print application is so much worse with these guys so far. Nothing seems lined up properly, especially on the eyes :(
