    I miss these types of videos so much. Please do more of these. The camera gear info videos are great, but we love you for your personality and watching you shoot and doing the in depth explanations!

    I love the 7-foot Umbrella, but you need to try that 53-inch Silver Deep Umbrella! It's been my go-to modifier in the studio.

    You’re one of the few TH-camrs that I know will always drop quality content that I’ve never been disappointed in.
    I had won the Westcott 7’ white umbrella from a photography contest years ago and still love it. The distance and angles that I use it at prevents the flat lighting look. Nice video bro 💪🏽

    The camera stuff arent the only videos we watch, you're always informative whether you're talking about a photography accessory, lighting, or shooting methods. You have a passion for this, thats why alot of us watch everything you release.

    As someone who is looking to up their game and learn off camera flash I appreciate the content you've been putting out. You hit a wide array of people and probably have no idea what impact you have on people.

    Manny, loved the "inverse square space" pun. I have several of these 7' umbrellas, mine have the white rather than silver lining giving a bit softer look. I use it for small groups (mostly families) of up to ~8 people. If I'm shooting more than that I use 2 umbrellas angled slightly inward. I love the look of these umbrellas - flat even soft shadowless light that flatters everyone. I use them outside a lot even in a moderate wind by using a heavy stand with weights - seems to work most of the time. Nice video (as usual).

    I love the Westcott 7ft umbrella. Maybe at some point I should get me the silver one too but I love the white one especially with the diffusion sock. It a favorite for sure but like you said it’s hard to take out on out door shoots as it doesn’t take much of a wind… same with V Flats. I enjoy these types of videos as well. Sure I love gear but it’s more about the photography that inspires me.

    Umbrellas are super underrated. As an event shooter with time constrictions, I simply don't have time to erect and collapse softboxes (nor deal with the bulk and weight, umbrellas are light and compact). I have to get flattering light quickly and umbrellas are great for this. You just need a little practice with them so that you can understand how to feather them a bit more for some additional control (even deriving a semi rembrandt look and not just flat light). Size is important, but even smaller ones brought in closer to the model can create a very different look, still very soft with less spill.
    I like the 7ft shoot through by Westcott, you can basically make it feel like you have brought a window into an area with gorgeous daylight spilling through. And yes bang for buck they are fantastic. I pretty much shoot only umbrellas these days.

  • @Flamamacue
    @Flamamacue 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Umbrellas in general are massively underrated and Big Modifier doesn't want you to know it. Cheap, easy and quick but not as sexy as a softbox.
    Another favourite use is using a big translucent umbrella as a scrim. Quickest scrim you will set up in your life and it works a treat for one or two people outside, just point it towards the wind if possible and bag it.

    Hi, thank you for this video, being mostly sports and wildlife focused photographer I didn’t payed a lot attention to lighting stuff, but recently i have tried to do some headshot photography and really liked it, so now i’m looking for studio photography tips, gear etc videos. And once again i really liked this one, so thanks again!🔥

    I've gotten my best portraits (and especially headshots with the westcott hiliter)with that exact same westcott umbrella. The quality of light is crazy if you have a big enough studio to use it.

    I do a lot of the same looks as what you do here, but with a 60 inch umbrella with and without a sock. As much as I'd love to do a 7 footer, I just don't have the ceiling height or space for such a monster. The 60 inch is plenty huge enough for my needs.
