At this point, I'll take whatever I can get of hearing Kevin's voice. I grew up on reruns of BTAS and Batman Beyond, as well as the JLA and JLU. So, for me, his voice brings me back to the happier times of my childhood. Kevin will always be my Batman, just as Mark will always be my Joker.
That makes sense. I have some mixed feelings on the new show from what I've seen, but I need to let it play out for a bit before I make any final assessments. Do you have any thoughts on the new show so far, based on what they've shown?
@@FlipFlopComics Don't bother Batman Caped Crusader is so woke it's awful I stopped watching after 2 episdes, They totally f'd it up and changed every character except for Batman and Alfred. Good animation though.

I remember my initial impression of this short was that it was set in the DCAU, cuz I thought Batman was wearing his Justice League/Justice League Unlimited costume due the extra pointy bat ears. Then of course I learned it was based on the original 1939 Batsuit, though it definitely still has a DCAU-like appearance. Glad that Kevin was willing to do this, even though he only got one line to say plus a few grunts. I know Batman's usually a man of few words (unless you count Adam West's version, heh), but it's always nice to hear Kevin getting some decent amount of lines to work with (RIP).
I noticed that, too. 👍 I think they designed the JL suit like that to pay homage to the original Batman design. It's a very cool short, and I love to hear Conroy belting out his interpretation of The Bat. I wish they would have stuck to this theme and vibe in the new series. A black and white version with a bit of a monster/horror feel. Like the old Dracula movies. I'm very disappointed with the new show. Do you like it? Thanks for watching and commenting! 🦇👊🦇
@@FlipFlopComics If you mean Caped Crusader, no I haven't yet. Yeah I know it's getting mixed reactions from the fandom. Some do seem to like it though. I'd probably be more interested in watching it myself if Kevin was still alive and involved with it. He'll always be my go-to Batman voice. Anyway, as for the JL Batsuit, I think it was actually the Batman Beyond costume that inspired the longer bat ears look for the mask, though maybe it was also partly based on the OG comic book design.
I heard that this was a tease for Caped Crusader. I kinda want the show tie in with that short, like Hugo Strange returning and explaining how he survived.

@cell718 Hey man, I did. I liked Batman and the new voice. The show, in my opinion, falls short. I know some people like it, and that is cool, but for me, it's a contradiction of itself. It was supposed to take place in the 1930s/40s, but it does not stick to the social norms of that era. They forced a lot of stuff in there that doesn't fit the era and takes away from what could have been a great old school take on the Dark Knight. What do you think?
Good thing the grapple line's hook spikes always curve gently around someone's wrists whenever he needs to use them to rescue someone, but easily smash into, penetrate, and hold in solid stone, wood, or even metal when he needs to climb. In real life, the poor woman would probably have been skewered or had her arm sliced off...
If only caped Crusader was actually this good. It’s like someone tried to remake this and make an awful copy, a pale imitation. These two minutes are better than the 120 of the entire show. The music, the art, the acting, the directing, the writing, the style. It actually feels like the 40s.
💯 I have the same exact feedback. The show does not place you in the right era. It's actually very confusing to watch because it feels like Batman is working with what limited technology he has for the time period, but everyone else is living the social norms of 2024. The world was very different in 1930/40 with respect to men and women hierarchy, but they are using today's norms, which isn't accurate. A missed opportunity to highlight the Dark Knight in his early days. Thanks for watching and commenting! 🦇👊🦇

This should've been the template for Batman: Caped Crusader. The monochrome, grainy aesthetic fits more with '30s-40s noir than bright colors. And somehow, a four minute short from ten years ago looks more fluid and has better use of shadow and light than a twentyfive-minute episode. Seriously, the show looks extremely bland to me, yet, according to Bruce Timm, it's supposed to be a love letter to the Dark Knight's roots.
@MegaZeta Bruce Timm often spoke about how he loves the 1930s era Batman idea for a show, and he poured his love into that short. I think that was his baby, and he was able to create it without any intervention from the higher-ups as it was simply a short. The Caped Crusader strayed so far from that initial concept. It shows a lack of love and, more importantly, a lot of hands in the pot focused on making it more inclusive instead of a time-honored piece. I wonder if a season two will be approved?
