Rachel: your business thinking is quite correct. You lose some, you gain some. Anyone that buys that particular chest will just love it. That is always a very grateful thing to experience for a creator. Your projects are always very nice for any home. Carol from California
Ms Rachel I luv both of your projects. You did a great job of revamping them. The first one was perfect before you added the gold wax, yet it still was very nice with the gold wax. I believe in Less is More. The chest turned out beautiful. Fantastic job on rescuing it. The minute you brought that out, I knew it was going to be a bleeder. PRIME PRIME PRIME is my motto. I do the same kind of upcycling you do and I know I never really get back the time/money I put into my pieces when I sell them but I do it mostly for the experience and for the fun of it. I find that it relaxes me when I am doing it and it makes me feel like I am NOT CONTRIBUTING to the landfills when I rescue these type of pieces.
I do the same thing with wood scraps. My husband does a lot of woodworking and has some gorgeous woods that have little pieces left. He throws them away and I dig them out of his trash for deco podging over or using in other crafts I make. He has threatened to make his trash Shanna proof. LOL All of the wood he uses is at least 150 yrs old. Can't let it just be thrown away.
I love the project 1 piece. I agree the extra gold is a little much, but if it doesn’t sell, you can alway repaint. For the chest, I would like to see some dark wax to tone down the crinoline, but I am surprised that I like the print you put on it. You did an awesome job fixing it up.❤
I know the feeling when there comes a time we spend more time on a piece then expected but it happens. I create for relaxation and to make a few $, all in all it works out for me and my customers! I LOVED the chest, awesome job!
My gosh, i love your projects but the chest was truly awesome. It is amazing to me how well you execute your vision for each project. I wish I had your patience! I do think removing the paint from the tack heads was inspired!
Agree Rachael, the eternal gold kinda diminishes the pretty gold patina highlight of the raised details. And that treasure box is awesome. Well done! ❤❤❤
Very cute love it.. was so happy I seen your cat , I was so worried something happen to her. I love black and white cats. I jus love cats. Have a wonderful day Racheal
Love the little chest and did like the first project better without the gold wax but still like it. Gave me ideas for similar thrift pieces I picked up. Always enjoy your makeovers. ❤
I love the chest. I know it took you a long time to remove the paint from those round balls ( whatever they are called), but it did make a big difference. Looks really good ❤
Rachel, I absolutely loved both projects today. The 1st project turned out beautiful before and after, but honestly think the gold at the end is just a little too bold against the softness of the rest of the piece. Oh my word, the time you have invested in the treasure chest is unbelievable. That stinks when you are in business to make money but sure am glad you took the time that you did. Whoever is lucky enough to purchase this from you Will have a treasure chest. Your creative vision amazes me. You will be well armed and ready for treasure chest #2. hehe We got to see Salty! Our pretty little kitty. I sure miss our little tuxedo cat. Have you heard on the offer that you made? Still have all kinds of body parts crossed for you. LOL When you wax something, does it attract dust like an oil finish does? And do you just barely dust it to leave the wax intact? Have an awesome weekend, my friend and we will see you on Wednesday.

Love the projects ❤❤❤chest was my favorite
I love both of them. I have a habit of adding too much of the gold highlights to items so trying to embrace the Less is More approach.
