Thankyou for the instruction on boar brushes and thermal brushes...its basic but memorable...and I.needed that...keep up the.beautiful basics...thanks again...Cheers! Ena
Soy cosmetologa hace ya 31 años y no sabía la diferencia, gracias porque tus vídeos me hacen mejorar y ser más profecional,me encantaría que dieran un seminario de manejo de negocio.
I start out with a paddle brush! Then alternate between boar brush and finish of for lift with the thermal brush on my own hair!! It works great!! I have tons of hair but kinda wavy a each hair strand is thin! But i have tons of hair! This works for me!!
Awesome! When I'm drying hair I work the same way. Wrap dry with the paddle brush to remove moisture then come in with my round brush and a dryer OR flat iron to add shine, bevel or curls. Thanks for the comment
Great tips! In order to create a shiny but yet bouncy appearance on courser, curlier hair, is there by any chance that a boar bristle brush can be used first in each section to give the hair that smooth and shiny look then go back with a thermal round brush to give the hair a bouncy appearance as well as the shine created from the boar bristle round brush? Would that be a safe technique?😃
This is really informative! My hair is the same as your model and I was really wondering what brush would be better. I do have both and my preferred outcome is straight and polished with the ends curled to add definition to my layers. I did notice that the thermal brush had a lot less tension than the boar bristle brush. I am planning on doing a full blowout with the thermal brush just to see how it works with straightening.
Boar hair bristle brushes are always going to be the best , the way you properly utilize them though is different you can actually get way more body and volume with boar hair than thermal . You have to work in reverse though ends to root vs root to ends
Hi Sam I love your videos. I learnt a lot from you and you are an inspiration for me. I want to learn how you use the blow dryer. I mean the bllow dryer buttons, its heat settings cos its quite confusing. When you guys use blow dryer, the clients are quite comfortable but when I use it even on my sis, she complains it burning hot. Need help!!
Hi. thanx for the much needed info, but i wanted to know is it better to use a brush that is ceramic or tourmaline and boar bristles or just a wooden boar brush instead to blow out tightly coily hair?
hey Andrew, nice video, you explain it very nicely. Did you work at the NYC trade show this past March for Redken? You look so familiar , I believe you were working with the retail at the Redken section.
I tend to use my thermals more on my clients because I feel I can get it through their hair better but this makes me want to use my boar brushes more :)
I tried a boar bristle brush and it felt like it scratched my scalp. Is that how it's supposed to feel like? That brush is probably older than me, maybe it's worn out?
Most round brushes aren't very comfortable directly on the scalp... we just released three new brushes that have ball tipped bristles though and they are amazing on the scalp! They are the Artist Series Spiral Thermal Brush. I personally do not think this video teaches how to maximize use of a round brush? You don't use the round hardly at all. I see pulling more than twirling the brush which is why you use round and not straight. I don't see any teaching on how to efficiently swirl to get maximum volume, lift and polish. You minus we'll use a regular brush for the way you are doing this.
It's hard to say honestly but the heat of the dryer is significantly lower than the iron. Also, it's a very different finish. This method is going to give a softer and fuller look to the hair where the iron will give a smoother tighter look.
True Inez! Our bad :-) We had prepped the hair with Redken Satin Wear for thermal protection on Hailey... it's one of our "go-to" products because it doesn't leave the hair feeling oily. www.redken.com/products/styling/heat-styling/satinwear-04-blow-dry-prepping-lotion
That is some serious heat damage! I have fine hair and I blow dry my hair only once or twice a week and too for less than 5 mins on low heat(Yes, I do use some heavy duty heat protectant Every.Single.Time) and still it seems like too much damage. I also experience some major hair fall while blow drying. Maybe it's just me!
Been using the wrong round brush for my extremely coarse and textured hair. UGH no wonder!!! Thank you!
I love that the camera doesn't go too close. I never knew why other demos have to go too close, it shows us less of the technique

Thanks for the informative video. This helped me decide that a boar brush will ultimately bring the results I want.
Thank you so much for sharing this with us! This helps me to like the thermo brushes again. German hugs for that!
Hugs to you in Germany!
Finely I found answer to my question 🤗 not just words about brushes. Now I know which brush I need. Thnx👏🏻

I want to know that which brush will be better for mens hair of size 5 cm to 6 cm
Whats that hair dryer? Would I get the same results as the ceramic round brush if I use the boar brush and rollers?
Actually useful info !!! Thanks !
Hey Andrew, can you make a video on how you do your hair? It's quite nice.
Thanks Jasper... we will pass this on to Andrew!
Gracias por sus videos son muy utiles
Super helpful video! :)

It's the 1" Joan :-)
@@samvillahair Thank you!

what kind of blow dryer is that
you're really helpful..thanks

Knowing how to do this and not having the home salon I need is torture.

Can this be done on thicker curlier hair too, would it be the same technique
Absolutely. The boar brushes will stretch our curlier hair better than if you were to use the thermal round brush.
@andrewcarruthers are you left handed
Very helpful

i have very thick long hair and my hair is usually very flat without any volume so which brush is best for me?
brush on the right
thanks!
He natural hair doesnt look coarse , unruly or challenging it's just slightly wavy and without volume on the top
Love Andrew
Great!!!
Wouldn't it be less damaging to the hair if you were to just curl it with an iron rather than spend all that time on one piece with high heat ?

"coarse, challenging, unruly hair" -_-
That was really ignorant to say, there's nothing challenging with coarse hair... You just have to use different techniques and styling tools.
it is more difficult to style coarse hair. Please don't be so sensitive about this.It is only the truth.
@@TheEC35 There's no such thing as bad weather; only the wrong clothing and protection.
@@toomuchinformation what a silly comment. Freezing cold and rainy weather is bad weather regardless of your clothing.
It lives by its own rules and is more difficult to get under control.

I will try to do it with Woodglut plans.
i thought i was the only one that caught that... unruly?😑
I caught my hair in thermal brush and I had to cut them :-( that brush isn't easy to use at all
What kind of thermal brush are you using? If you use a thermal brush with seams, that is what tends to happen.
Don't ever call course hair challenging...its just different. It's offensive.
