For those of you who think that Austin, "lost his scream," you're completely off. He's changing up the style of his vocals according to the tone of the music that they adjusted to for this album.
Some say they're located in the back of the mind where old memories have been pushed back. Others say the feels are located right beside the heart and extend towards the gut. Since the feels apparently live in different parts of us, I would listen to the song and record your findings for future generations c;
When Aaron sings "How am I supposed to" listen in the background and hear a dun dun dun... dun dun dun with the guitar it's my fav part of the song and it's so tiny idk
one of my favorites off this record, I'm pretty sure it's about Austin's experience in high school, idk I could be wrong "These are the hardest four years of my life.."
You will be in my head everytime I hear this song now.... Plus you are my favourite stranger person for the next 4 hours. Just because of this comment. Hope I dont sound too...creepy :| :\
Former emo garbage truck revisiting all my old music,, my music taste has changed drastically (though my lil middle school self would hate me for saying that) but even if i cant get myself to listen to all these bands 24/7 anymore some of them had beautiful lyrics and sound!! Ive changed as a person so much by letting it go but i'm a lot happier at this point in my life
The last few lines of this song really got to me. Because I remember an interview in which he said his mom always compared life to a book. Different experiences making up chapters. And how he always thought that meant to appreciate every moment and to know that things couldn't end if they didn't feel complete. And... I just love Austin's philosophies so much.
I know what you've been through, this hell was my life. You have to keep pushing, I've seen through your eyes. Your days are like pages, the chapters unread. You have to keep turning, your book has no end.
For some reason, this song brings me back to high school with like 2 acquaintances (which I wasn't allowed to hang out with after school) and growing up in state's custody. It was hell. I started cutting... "The scars on my body, they don't even bleed! I only do this for you to see!"...
This was the first song i ever heard from this band. I was in hot topic and the song started playing and i had to know who it was. The lady working there had to search for their playlist it took forever but finally she found who the band was. Im so happy i walked in there that day i have a new favorite band now :)
I already loved this song but after reading the lyrics it makes me feel closer to this song. This so explains my most difficult years as an adult to the T. :3 Thank God for music.
I love it when I see people saying shit like "ugh can't scream, total shit." That's funny cause I didn't know that having a youtube/google plus account made you a aficionado on vocals. The vocals on this album are great it's like when people said the new The Devil Wears Prada album was shit because "he couldn't scream anymore" and sounded raspy. Having those little imperfections (voice cracks, breaths etc) add emotion to it and depth to the whole sound. Gives a greater impact to the listener because the vocalist is able to show how meaningful and close these lyrics are to them. So seriously grow the fuck up.
killerhippo10 vocalist change their style all of the time. Corey Taylor Mr. Neck himself even said he changed his over time. It all depends on what the artist their self wants and prefers. If things didn't change over time then life and music would be pretty fucking boring.
Yeah I didn't even think of them but it's so right! I mean people tend to hate change like in their case people didn't like it when they lost Jonny. Especially when they continued to have a inconsistent line up. But I'm pretty pleased with the current line up hell there hasn't been a time I didn't like it they're just a great band.
So many people saying Austin sounds shit. I think his vocals in all of Restoring force is brilliant. So it wasn't what you expected, so what? They can't please everybody. But don't go spreading your 'opinion' all over the comments where people get butthurt and start arguments. It's pointless. If you don't like the song, move on to something you do like. If you like this song, stay and have a whale of a time listening to it. Same goes for every song really. I don't like a lot of songs but I don't go on the comments and spread around how 'shit' it is because there are people who love that song. WHY DO WE NEED TO START ARGUMENTS ABOUT IT!?
It's amazing how much this song speaks to me.. Like really. I live with my dad & what he sees, is a happy 13-almost-14-year old girl with no worries or problems at all. When in reality, she's a girl who had been broken for so long she doesn't know what it feels like to be fixed. A girl with cuts on her wrist that were originally motivated by the actions & words of the unknowing mouths of others. He has no clue. He doesn't even see my scars.
I like this album because it has plenty of variety. In the flood and their self titled album the songs were distinct, but they all sounded at least somewhat similar. I think Of Mice and Men experimented with several new sounds and it turned out great
I have gotten to the point now where I just can't go through the comment section of ANY video on youtube without cringing. Btw I LOVE this whole album.
For those of you who think that Austin, "lost his scream," you're completely off. He's changing up the style of his vocals according to the tone of the music that they adjusted to for this album.
It rather sounds more like fried vocals, or raspy vocals than screams. at the very least it's very borderline between fried vocals, and fry screaming
can't lose what you never had. Austin is garbage. always has been. always will be.
threeflip911 K thanks for your opinion that wasn't exactly on topic but okay, that's your opinion.
threeflip911 you can go fuck your self . like really??? if your really gonna be an ass why dont you go take your fucking ugly ass somewhere else
Alyssa Green kinda ironic you would say that...
Ugg.. The lyrics are punching me right in the feels...
samee
Where exactly is the feels located? I would also like to have mine pulverized
Some say they're located in the back of the mind where old memories have been pushed back. Others say the feels are located right beside the heart and extend towards the gut. Since the feels apparently live in different parts of us, I would listen to the song and record your findings for future generations c;
Phillip Patakos lol
Sonim guessing your scars don't bleed?
"This is not a home,
they don't even see me."
I always thought it said 'they dont even feed me' ;u;

THE CONCH HAS SPOKEN!!!
they should sell a conch that everytime you pull the string, it plays a song from the album.
mafiaalejandro "The conch has spoken!"
The way I would spiral into Squidwards insanity when the conch kept playing the 1 mid song
Can I just point out how he says:
I know what you've been through, this hell WAS my life.
He got through it. It WAS his life.
Things do get better.
When he said “THESE ARE THE HARDEST 4 YEARS OF MY LIFE!!!!” I felt that
Well yeah but you don't know his reasoning just saying he had it rough
When Aaron sings "How am I supposed to" listen in the background and hear a dun dun dun... dun dun dun with the guitar it's my fav part of the song and it's so tiny idk
dude get a sound system and play this sound system CX
Your icon👌🏻👌🏻😍
My favorite has to be the beginning or the break down or outro
one of my favorites off this record, I'm pretty sure it's about Austin's experience in high school, idk I could be wrong "These are the hardest four years of my life.."
It's clearly about twerking before it was maintream. uuuurbody knows austin twerked for four years before it started to trend.
Not to dissapoint you, but I got a feeling that's telling we aren't in the vicinity of each other.
Anon Fagit not dissapointed at all. It's okay.
erik lausund no.
Shiiiet she's on to me. She realized my first comment was a hoax...
Austin's screams are fucking awesome in this song! For real, I had a huge smile on my face legit.
Four thousand years I tried to get the heavenly mother attention

you are very majestic Zoe Lock

+Dread Naught djentlemen? Dude, you just made my year.
Haha I'm glad to be of service!
This song is in Drop A for anybody who plays guitar or bass.
By far my favorite song on the album from just the lyrical standpoint.
Out of all of Mice & Men's songs, this one is my fav..!
I know what you've been through,
this hell was my life.
You have to keep pushing,
I've seen through your eyes.
Your days are like pages,
the chapters unread.
You have to keep turning,
your book has no end.

This is one of my favorite albums of all time.
Aaron does probably the best cleans I've ever heard.
2:29 made me so happy. Fuck, it's going to be hard for any band to top this album. It's so good, and I was expecting it to be mediocre at best.
MOTHPIT!!

second & sebrig really breaks my heart but at the same time motivates me, yknow??
I already loved this song but after reading the lyrics it makes me feel closer to this song. This so explains my most difficult years as an adult to the T. :3 Thank God for music.
Beauty and pain mixed perfectly

either way you don't need to be a fucking aficionado on vocals to see that his screams aren't what they used to be

Anju Caruso like dance gavin dance!

ProDeimonk opinions can be wrong sometimes or made from biased purpose. i think you mean personal preference.

The distant guitar in the beginning is perf.
I used this as my title for my movie script and people thought it was a really good title and how it fit into the story. Thanks Austin c:
This song is just just a master piece
This is by far the best album Of Mice & Men has ever made. I cannot stop listening to it! I'm in love.
Moth pit introduced me to such an amazing song.
The lyrics are genuine, the music is well written, the production is on point. It's awesome music.
This song rocks. Hardcore.
probably my fav OM&M song
It's amazing how much this song speaks to me.. Like really. I live with my dad & what he sees, is a happy 13-almost-14-year old girl with no worries or problems at all. I like this album because it has plenty of variety. In the flood and their self titled album the songs were distinct, but they all sounded at least somewhat similar. I think Of Mice and Men experimented with several new sounds and it turned out great
