man after seeing this they need to make a sequel to spinal tap with all these old rockers trying to squeeze the last dimes out of there careers that peeked 30 years ago its more than appropriate commentary just as it was when the original came out back in the day plus when you get these 3 together its guaranteed laughs
True story: I sing and play drums. Someone's party I said, you know "Hotel California?" because I was going to do keyboards. guy said "yes." He lied. (it's a 3 feel in 4. High hat is like a waltz) Had to ignore him the rest of the song. Drummers in a nutshell. Not even the first time I've heard it entirely wrong in paying gigs. Not my money, though. Also: "One does not simply invent new and inappropriate drum fills for 'Hotel California.' "

If there's ever an Improv Comedy Hall of Fame, Spinal Tap should the first inductees. Pure genius! They have absolutely perfected that inane, wannabe intellectual, meaningless, Rock Star interviewee, psychobabble. It's understandable why some musicians cried actual tears of sadness when they saw the Spinal Tap movie.
Fascinating. Sometimes the artists themselves struggle to communicate their intent and their opinions. These rock legends do not. They just say the first things that come into their heads and do so without regard to who might watch the interview. Very brave to the point of being bold.
Stunningly high intelligence at display. I love how Nigel is a half-tick slow in his delivery on long-winded, convoluted misapprehensions of history and philosophy. Must drive the others' quick minds crazy, yet I think Guest gets some joy out of doing that to them as his own second-level joke. This video really highlights McKean's brilliance.
comedic geniuses, improvising quotable hilarity left right and centre, bouncing off each other in character they deserve respect for not bursting into laughter. And the music as ironic as it still rocks. I love nigel.
Not only was it one of the bloodiest wars, but it went down on record as the drunkest war ever fought.. and thank God for that. If not for the brutal hangovers- they'd probably still be fighting today...and if you've never fired a gun repeatedly for hours with a splitting headache- stopping only to vomit- it's not a lot of fun. Believe me. Then again there are some historians who suggest were it not for the drinking, they might never have started fighting in the first place.
"...and it was a weird time signature...what was it?...it was 4/4" lol That is the most common signature in history! Love the "Tap. Tonight I am gonna rock you tonight!
"What was that unusual time signature?" "It was 4/4" .....also known as "common time" So damn funny. Guest is truly a genius but they are all AMAZINGLY gifted!
From MSNBC: "Michael McKean, best known for playing Lenny in the '70s hit TV comedy "Laverne and Shirley" and David St. Hubbins in the mockumentary film "This Is Spinal Tap," was hospitalized on Tuesday after being hit by a car in New York. The actor, 64, suffered a broken leg and facial lacerations after being struck when a car jumped a curb at the intersection of W. 86 St. and Broadway. He is being treated at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital, according to NBC New York."
@@haeuptlingaberja4927 I saw them live in Boston when the movie was released. They were about 45 minutes late onstage. Finally, Michael McKean walked out on stage, asked the crowd if anyone in the audience had an extra guitar cable., It was hilarious..
OMG! I totally missed the Irish-Indian War in history class. Thank goodness Spinal Tap is here to set the record straight. When the Indians went to Ellis Island to get their Christian names, one can clearly see how the tensions between the indigenous Americans and the Irish were highly sparkable and erupted into the bloody culture clash. So bloody and culturally clashy was this conflict, to this day, history writers are too pained to chronicle it for school children.
"In ancient times... Hundreds of years before the spanish landing, lived a strange race of people... the indians... No one knows who they were or where they've go !"
"In all our years, we never heard anyone say, 'Turn it down!'"
"Well, we wouldn't have heard it anyway."
Yeah, that's kind of the point, lol
Lololol😂😂😂

I was cracking up watching the movie WITHOUT SOUND OR TITLES in a bar.
Stone sober.
this was filmed before chuck had to switch to an acoustic guitar due to electromagnetic sensitivity.
"chuck"?
@@kipperfeast McKean played Chuck on Better call saul

Haha probably. Although I think their strongest suit is their patience with each other
these guys are absolute geniuses of conversational improvisation. where talking complete rubbish for hours is art.
comedic geniuses, improvising quotable hilarity left right and centre, bouncing off each other in character they deserve respect for not bursting into laughter. And the music as ironic as it still rocks. I love nigel.
I love this almost as much as the movie itself, hilarious as hell!
Derek Smalls' 'Does this look infected?' shirt is epic.
The other shirt reads Sepsis.
Yet another classic addition to the Spinal Tap legacy!
I have been well and truly rocked.
I appreciate TH-cam recommendations....great footage. Now searching for big bottoms..
'We played short and sweet... for two hours'
I think it takes at least that long to get over the idea they *pay you,* sometimes ridiculously well, even, to have fun!
lol
"it's important to wear a conundrum in this day and age"
"they pass them out at schools now"
Where did that come from? Genius! 😄😄😄
"We played 'Short and Sweet" for two hours. I scarred me internally."
Join a band. You have the conversations every day.
I instantly laughed when I saw Christopher Guest in the wig...that shows you how funny that character is
drumzmagoo LORD BARON Christopher Guest. Even funnier when you know this 😂
I think its supposed to be like John Paul Jones.
These guys play off each other so well! Couldn't stop laughing!
6:31 "No offense intended. None taken. None mended."
I laughed so hard :)

Jazz is the music of fear ;-)
"...and it was a weird time signature...what was it?...it was 4/4" lol That is the most common signature in history! Love the "Tap. Tonight I am gonna rock you tonight!
autistic much
Tremendous - more Tap!
"We know now, even if you're dead, you're not"....... lol

Damn, this is AWESOME!
Holy balls man, these guys are genius.
Odd time signature...

This is one of the funniest things I've ever heard!
The IRISH / INDIAN wars . (why no mention of that in history books ?? )
Changing seats for each topic😂😂
Still absolutely bloody hilarious!!!
Brilliant!
You want to "has" jazz..... One of my favorite Derek lines ever!! 1:17-1:20.
lmao great improv as all three of them are such talented guys/actors/writers/impresionists
I grew up in one room at a time.

Hahaha Nigel always citing his "research"!!!
was interesting to learn about the irish-indian wars these guys really know what theyre talking about.
Forgot about the Irish-Indian war..... Man I am in desperate need of a sequel.
"It didn't hurt the beast, dunno how that worked" I could imagine Karl Pilkington saying that

Guest could do a great Jeff Beck even without makeup, but with production it would be spot on. Wish there was an audience for it.
BRILLIANT!
I’m going to buy a second hand cd player so I can watch my cherished cd This is Spinal Tap, I need it now more than ever 😂
lol, "Do you want to hear Jazz"? epic!!
7:26, Nigel's mind has been blown.
"you think you want to has jazz"
SO CLASSIC......much love Tee with LIONS NAMED LEO...[the band}..
Geronimo's real name was Gershowitz before he changed it at Ellis Island...ROTFLMAO!!!

Copacetic Nirvana gave similar interviews.
@Copacetic when is the amazing part?
I can't stand their whining.
and their drummer. lol
"...real life situations....Stardust!" Genius!
I could listen to these guys for days..
Feel bad for you if you weren't in a band in the 80's and have no frame of reference.
Did this type of thing go away?
I still see it all the time, lol.
I was, and I am still floored. We were smart-arses and thought ourselves clever, but we never had these comedic chops. Epic.

Harry Shearer = legend
When Nige is so serious describing something... and I'm actually buying into it... then you start laughing... he's so stupid! he's endearing
Are these guys in the RnRhof yet?
I think its disgusting that they put rap in at all.
by definition, it doesn't even qualify. :)

Not only was this funny, but informative, too. I now know a lot more about the history of America XD
It's important to wear a conundrum in this day and age.
American history according to Spinal Tap. I almost choked at my desk I was laughing so much. They have not lost their touch it seems roflmao !!!!!
