- Clifton Ryan The Mighty Bomber is the King of 1964. Bomber migrated to Trinidad from Grenada.

Before Calypsoians were Monarchs they were Kings. Clifton Ryan The Mighty Bomber is the King of 1964. In 1956 Bomber migrated to Trinidad from Grenada.
He started entering calypso competitions in Trinidad the following year. In 1960 Bomber was invited by the Mighty Sparrow to sing at the Original Young Brigade Tent.
In 1964 he created history when he defeated the Mighty Sparrow, winning the National Calypso King Competition.
The life and works that The Mighty Bomber has made to the development of the calypso art form is a reminder of the importance of the advancing of one's talent and sharing it for the benefit of many.

Mighty Bomber- Clifton Ryan (1928-2021). One of the last living legends in Calypso. Won the Calypso Monarch in 1964 with "James & Joan" (Dyin, Dyin- Darlin, Darlin) & "Bomber's Dream"- Peace In The World. I believe he composed Mervyn Hodge "Sniper's" "Portrait of Trinidad"- 1965 Calypso Monarch. As far as I remember, for a while Mr. Ryan went blind & I believe Dr. Eric Williams gave him a piece of land. R.I.P. Bomber
