FINALLY got this thing going off in working order! I’ve been wanting to hear this thing go off since I got it malfunctioning a while back. Surprisingly it was really loud, and makes Darien a sad excuse for a Hurricane. Wonder if it’s because it’s angled downwards or something but either way this thing was on Thunderbolt levels of loud. Good framing. I can see how REALLY BIG the projector is. Admittedly, I was once one of those people who didn't realize how big sirens are. They're just perched atop buildings and poles, looking small. Seeing a P-50 on the ground changed all that.
How big is the chopper that it needs 50hp to run it?

motor died about 2 weeks ago. I do believe Fulton fixed it.
@@xxwolvzxx2720 It's fixed and up and running, but is due to be replaced by the end of the year by a 2001 -130 or T-128.
@@ArxCyberwolfPC Busmaster99 said it would either be a 2001-130 or a 508. But I have to agree it could also be a T-128.

Officially the last active Hurricane 130 MkII in the U.S.
That we know of. It’s possible there’s others still out there maybe in some small rural town. The Whelen 2000R was thought to be extinct until someone discovered one in some random village in Missouri.
How did I know a recording of this siren would pop up in my feed today? Nice video as always Mitch.

In a news report of Made In Wisconsin, some part in the ASC video, you can see one hurricane still in there. So maybe that's a sign that ACA is coming back...
While Id defiantly like to see that happen, I'd say the closest we'll get is them still providing support for older ACA sirens. I don't really see them reviving ACA when they're doing just fine as ASC.
@J19_vlogger74 the older aca sirens don't have battery backup and some might just use too much power for DC capabilities
I really hope that this siren stays in good condition in the future.
I shall personally remove this hurricane and BURN IT in the pits of hell... just kidding, awesome video as always, keep it up

This siren needs some refurbishment which means fixed blower, new paint, and more
A fixed blower is hard there's low amount of parts, eventually the sirens light will burn out and it will get replaced.

I like the Hurricane for how powerful it sounds and the unique wind down, but it seems to get quiet too quickly. I know this is ACA's version of the ThunderBolt, so it is probably the blower turning off.

You know what I like about the hurricane, is because the siren windup is just instant. Aca p-50 takes like 5 seconds to wind up into its original note sound

I’ve honestly never liked the way these sound. The windup is too fast and the wind down is way too slow.

Are there any Plans to replace this Siren?
American Signal does not own it. The city of Milwaukee does, and they will keep repairing it because they have no money to replace it.
A2MS They want to, but Milwaukee does not have enough money to get parts from them/choose not to, instead they keep on replacing a relay, giving the blower more oil and call it a day

You know why it has parts like a thunderbolt? Because it is a thunderbolt but circle horn
Wrong. This siren is a completely different design and has no association with federal signal or the thunderbolt series. It was built to be a competitor of the thunderbolt, but it ended up failing miserably.

@@Thomasveum the hurricane failed in competing with the thunderbolt for sales. There are thousands upon thousands of thunderbolt sirens across the US while there is only one active hurricane still in service and very few that still exist. The hurricane also had a short production run before being replaced by the penetrator series.

It’s still active along with the one at Darien. The blowers are dying though. The Darien one has some glitches.

Only 2 are active and this is one of the 2. One is at Darien and this one at Milwaukee. Darien’s Hurricane’s chopper stopped working apparently... so I think this is the only Hurricane making sound.
As of now, this is the only active hurricane in the world. Darien took theirs down

There's 2 in Greenville Texas that are still standing, but inactive.
There's one in Cincinnati at Werden Electric, who serviced Cincinnati's old sirens. It's still there at the yard, but not for sale.
And there's this one. That makes 4 total, unless I'm missing something.
