What a man. Jack & James are the epitome of motorcycle racing knowledge. Absolutely cannot fathom as to why he was dropped. I really miss his commentary.
Thanks Neil, really kind of you. When you listen to the same comms team for so long they BECOME the broadcast and it's always an adjustment when time moves them on :-)
Jack and James, to me, was BSB. It was part of the experience. It's not been the same since and I miss Jack dearly. Thank you for this podcast, it was wonderful to hear/watch.
Ahhh Jack Burnicle nobody sounds like Jack he's just the ultimate commentator just perfect with Wit . So miss hearing him an absolute pro so so good , other commentators could learn a lot from Jack I have nothing but the greatest admiration for this guy wish he was still doing the job in BSB . Superb interview very relaxed and a pleasure to watch great job guys so much fun to watch .👌👍
Jack and James are the Murray Walker of bike racing.. Voices you trust, extremely knowledgeable, and occasionally human, making hilarious faux pas... long life and good health to them both...
Really miss Jack on BSB. What a lovely fella though. A friend of mine used to race on the BSB calendar. Used to see Jack walking round the paddock regular and had the odd chat with him. He understands the sport more than most commentators. Top Bloke 👍👊👊
Absolutely wonderful that, Jack the soothing voice of racing. Him and James together, an absolute fabulous pair, each fed the other. Miss his commentary skills. 👍
@@OffTrack_Podcast you rightly deserve the Gold medal this week Dave. Not only did you let Jack get on with his story uninterrupted, when his memory slightly faded you were right in there with the names and facts. Properly well done.
One of the great mysteries, why did Jack get dumped by Eurosport/Discovery? He should still be doing BSB, his calm commentary is totally at odds with the crap we get far too often on TV.
Another great interview, and as pretty much everyone else does, I miss Jack doing the BSB comms with Whit, the chemistry and banter between the two of them just added something to the races that isn’t there anymore, and that’s no disrespect to Steve Day who does a great job, but I really wish they could put Jack back in there with James, I really miss that humour between the two of them. Hope Jack is doing well though, great commentator.
Brilliant interview! Felt like sitting in the pub with a couple of mates. Jack was amazing - infectious laugh and a wealth of knowledge. His recollection on the George Best story was truly moving. Fantastic. Thanks again! PS: I was one of the listeners yelling to my car stereo “Jakob Smrz!” I remember Burnicle and Whit referring to him once as Jacob Smith… 😂😂
Thank you Dave, so lovely to hear Jack’s dulcet voice. His sincere innocence and honesty are virtues to aim for. As you both spoke about, akin to Jules, Toby and Neil back in the day, I looked forward too equally.
Miss the legendary team of Jack and Jamie Whitham. I find a lot of the comentary cold now Huen I just find grating and beyond annoying. Thank you for having Jack on and really look forward to a follow up. Also maybe you should Jack and Jamie on together, now that would be one hilarious pod cast! together,
Great to see/listen to Jack, really miss his commentry, can barely listen to the current WSBK commentators on the ITV coverage. make it boderline unwatchable. Keep well Jack.
Ah Jack the man a fountain of knowledge. I remember a mx mag Dirt bike and he was a photographer i think back in 82 or so. Will watch this later. Whit could take the piss out of Jack in a gentle way. Miss him on the telly box
I’m watching this in bits, as and when I can…..work etc , just got to the Chrissy #69 bit….I’m with Jack…I started crying as he mentioned it, I never met Chrissy, but I started following his progress in the championship year…I’ve always been a big Joey Dunlop fan…and I remember that morning I heard the news of his passing , that was unbearable, but Chrissy passing away after that crash hit me so much harder, I was at the time , a 54 yr old seen it all done a lot of it guy…but for a good few weeks , I cried my bloody eyes out over that lads death….and to this day…I still do, he was just a bloody lovely great lad, who raced a motorcycle…👍🇮🇲💖
Wow - Jack Burnicle - wonderful! Thank you, thank you, thank you sir. I miss your history lesson that accompanied every event introduction ...and the occasional Murrayism with every broadcast. Sadly, I feel the coverage is lacking these days - it;s far too sanitised. Where's Charlie Hiscott gone by the way?? Another great who seems to have disappeared. Jack, sincerely, I really miss your BSB/WSB contribution and, may I say, I still get the goosebumps when I hear your coverage of the Hill/Hopper showdown. Thank you.
The greatest voice of motorcycle racing, on TV in my lifetime….and with Whit, the greatest and funniest duo….miss those days….👍👌🇮🇲. Ps it was Rob Orme….👍😜
Cracking couple of hours in great company, had me chuckling more than once, he forgot to mention when a new broadcast company took over, and on day one a few gremlins made their presence uncomfortably known, and Jack had another open Mike moment, I got chance to reprimand him in a very tongue in cheek way outside garage 39 at Donington, Whits response and the look on Jack's face always make me laugh, always a pleasure to bump into Jack, and like lots will say, I still miss him being there, and who knew we share a love of poached eggs on toast, looking forward to the next one with Jack already. You just keep giving us fab shows 😊
Jack did swear once. He called the anchorman on wsbk a 'ginger w@#£er', not knowing the mike was hot. It was great :D Miss listening to Jack and Jamie - felt like you were watching bikes with your mates when they were commentating.
Another great interview 👍 I live not far from Jack, just down the road from Jack's they used to have a road race on the prom I had some great racers down there, all kerbs and no run off.
Great interview.. I would just like to say I wanted a cap signed by max biaggi at Donington when he was in motogp.. i knocked on his motorhome door .. he answered and invited me in.. spent 15 minutes with me and did a proper signature.. thank you max
Lots of mentions in here about world endurance. How about doing some interviews with UK riders who have been successful in endurance racing? I think you should get Terry Rymer on. Terry got right into endurance back in the day and was massively successful but slipped under the radar here because no-one could care less. There has to be a great interview there.
Thank Andrew! Funnily enough i was chatting with Terry at Cadwell about coming on again and sadly he's not too fussed about it. The audio show is still out there from a couple of years ago but we'll keep working on both him and Stalker ;-)
Miss Jack in bsb, Nothing wrong with Steve day but he ain’t no jack burnicle, next time try get the dream team back together do jack and Whit together.
Some of the names to fill in the gaps: Rob Orme was the ex-125 rider/early co-commentator Brendan Roberts was the Ducati man who collided with Neukirchner - he was shunted way too fast into the chicane after a collision in the braking zone with Makoto Tamada and had nowhere to go to avoid a big accident. It effectively ended Roberts's career too. Brett MacLeod was the South African rider lost at Kyalami (1999) and Michael Paquay was the young Belgian rider lost at Monza (1998) Lastly, the Slovenian WSBK rider and later endurance rider on the plane with Lavilla will have been Igor Jerman, of Nurburgring '99 oil spill infamy!
Thank you so much 🙏🏼 Brendan was the fella who pushed Billby to his R6 Cup Championship and I remember Paquay as he was JT’s teammate. Rob Orme, that’s the fella 🙌🏼
1:29:16 Racing intelligence, aka racecraft. Absolutely true. Some people speak that language and others don't. And it doesn't equate to being fast. You can be fast and not have any racecraft, likewise you can have racecraft and not be fast. Marquez is a perfect example of someone who, specifically in his heyday didn't have any racecraft but had plenty of speed. And it's the same for cars, Vettel and Verstappen lack in racecraft meanwhile drivers like Alonso and Lewis definitely don't. In BSB Tommy is a great example of someone who has an extremely high level of racecraft. His positioning of the bike during overtakes is incredible
Just finished watching. A really good episode. Before I worked in the BSB paddock, back in the very early 90's I did a few years working in the British MX series. Had a running joke with one of the riders that they better perform so as to get a mention in Jack's TMX column, Burnicle's Beat and not Ralph Remembers.
Great memories of tuning into Wsbk with Jack on the mic! This Motec vs Magnetti is really not helping the Brits make it to world level. Bsbk used to be a great stepping stone, not anymore. As a result, the Bsbk series, as good as it is, is becoming more insular. Are the governing bodies not interested in getting Brits to world level? In years gone by, your Bridewells, Irwins and the like would have had a crack by now.
The gulf is too wide at the moment, David, that’s for sure. From a business point of view it’s not ideal for the series to use its young talent but from a personal and professional point of view it’d be great for the fans to see riders get their chance. Glenn will never step up, he’s happy in BSB making a good living. Tommy, well, let’s see what happens there. Difficult to see when/if Rory Charlie or Max will get their chance. I suspect they’re next our best hopes.
Jack and James's, keith, jules are like the two Ronnie's and Morecombe and wise of commentating absolutely brilliant, God knows why got rid of Jack big mistake ❤
This was awesome to hear about Jack these days, and Im still not over him getting the push from tv coverage. I can content myself now, maybe it was the man bun that got him the road. MY EYES!! Did you leave his house stoned!
Good man, bad stuff! When you do your next episode take a pair of scissors with you! On another note, its weird how people perceive things. Cadwell has taken a lot of grief, I thought it was of the best days racing i ve ever watched!
What a man. Jack & James are the epitome of motorcycle racing knowledge. Absolutely cannot fathom as to why he was dropped. I really miss his commentary.
Miss Jack and James together. they were so funny together.
Absolute legend,BSB commentary hasn’t been the same without him! 🙏🏽
A cracking interview and insight into Jacks life; along with Keith and Jules, Jack and Whit represent the best of British and miss listening to them.
My pleasure, Shaun 🙏🏼

Kind words as always, CM 🙏🏼 thank you so very much and glad you enjoyed it 🙌🏼
Jack is an absolute star and i miss his commentary with Jamie, they were brillliant together.

Jack was one of the best ever commentators, great man .
Miss Jack from BSB, mega commentator.
The wonderful Jack Burnicle, the best. Great podcast guys, you must get him back 😊
What a brilliant interview Dave. This bought back to mind lots of things I had forgot.
Again this week's best bike podcast.
Thank you, Peter! Glad to have the gold medal this week 😁
@@OffTrack_Podcast you rightly deserve the Gold medal this week Dave. Not only did you let Jack get on with his story uninterrupted, when his memory slightly faded you were right in there with the names and facts. Properly well done.
Absolute legend. Miss his commentary at bsb.
Watching the racing is not the same without Jack and Whit together

Thank you Dave, so lovely to hear Jack’s dulcet voice. His sincere innocence and honesty are virtues to aim for. As you both spoke about, akin to Jules, Toby and Neil back in the day, I looked forward too equally.
Sat on a north Norfolk beach listening to Jack absolutely brilliant 👍
Miss the legendary team of Jack and Jamie Whitham. I find a lot of the comentary cold now Huen I just find grating and beyond annoying. Thank you for having Jack on and really look forward to a follow up. Also maybe you should Jack and Jamie on together, now that would be one hilarious pod cast!
together,
Listened at work mega podcast, lovely to hear jacks voice again like an old friend you’ve never met 👍👍
Great to see/listen to Jack, really miss his commentry, can barely listen to the current WSBK commentators on the ITV coverage. make it boderline unwatchable. Keep well Jack.
Absolutely agree they are hard to listen too
While Toseland was a great rider, his presenting is horrendous I watch WSB on mute 🔇
Ah Jack the man a fountain of knowledge. I remember a mx mag Dirt bike and he was a photographer i think back in 82 or so.
Will watch this later.
Whit could take the piss out of Jack in a gentle way. Miss him on the telly box
I miss Jack so much commentating with Whit on BSB. Those were the good old days. Please come back to BSB if you can Jack!

Lovely story 😁 and thanks Ian, see you at Oulton 🙌🏼
Will there ever be a reunion of Jack and James on a BSB race?! Please!
Brilliant 👍 Jack was the voice of bsb ❤

One of the best motorcycle commentators there ever was, modern day commentators should take a leaf out of his book, miss him.
The best voice and great coms, much missed
Absolutely brilliant Jack enjoyed every minute
Jack is the voice of WSB and BSB.
The voice of motorcycle. Great interview thanks….
You’re welcome, Gordon 🙏🏼
Fabulous, looking forward to the next one with Jack. Great to hear he's a Bob Marley fan too 👍

Thanks Adrian 👌🏼
What a wonderful human he is.
125 guy was Rob Orme
Well I didn't know that. I knew he was a Teessider but not that he was a Billingham lad to boot like me.
Paquette from belgium whas killed in monza in super sport
Jack and James's, keith, jules are like the two Ronnie's and Morecombe and wise of commentating absolutely brilliant, God knows why got rid of Jack big mistake ❤
